Great review as always guys! The Caledonia 5 is a fantastic bike. As an owner of a Cal5 AXS Rival I don't see enough change to consider an upgrade although the internal storage is sweet! But definitely recommend it for someone who's looking to get into a new bike!
That frame storage is pretty cool No more seat bag or putting it in my jersey pocket. I’m planning a cross country ride This bike might be a good choice! Nice review, thanks.
Looks great.I’ve had a Caledonia (not cal 5) and comparing mine and the Caledonia other than the storage thing and internal cabling. I was wondering what the difference was. Now my bike is two years old and it has Shimano ultegra drive train. Bikes are like cars. You get a really nice one and the next year they come out with a newer model and hope you’ll drop another 5000.00 after you dropped 4000.00 on the previous model. I’m not trashing Cervelo one bit. It’s a wonderful company and they make a brilliant bike. Do I see myself spending 5000.00 on a new bike. Nah. But I know there are some of us that will. I have two bikes…My Cervelo Caledonia toad bike and my Trek Checkpoint gravel. That’s alll in need. This hobby can really costs. We all know how much we’ll spend on bike stuff.
Hopefully they changed the BB to T47 like the new Aspero! I like this bike because of the geometry but I'd chose the new Aspero over it because of the price.
Nice bike but I still love my R3 which is only 15.9 lbs with size 28c pirelli tires which is nice and compliant and I did 7 MS 150 rides on it. Best bike ever made and it is a rocket!!!! Weeeee
Great video. I have a 2009 Cervelo R3 sl with Campy SR and FFW 60 rim brake wheels and looking for something more compliant with disk brakes.. Its a toss up for me between Dura Ace and Ultegra with from what I see is only a minor weight difference and a carbon vs aluminum stem.. Has me leaning towards the Ultegra
i own caledonia 105 and I would love to upgrade for the integrated cabling and the internal storage, but the pricing is straight up psychotic. I have a yeti sb130 turq with kashima'd everything and it costs less than the ultegra caledonia 5. insane. the canadians have lost their minds on the pricing. $5k for a vietnamese carbon frame with pressfit bb... can literally go online and buy an SWORKS tarmac for $5k.
SRAM Force Axis groupset must be heavy. I have the standard Caledonia with Ultegra mechanical 11 speed with Elite Drive 50D wheels with conti gp5000 tires, tpu tubes and Speedplay pedals (with power) and it weighs 7.8 kg. I would think the Caledonia-5 would be lighter. At 7.98 kg, the extra weight must be from the SRAM groupset.
You can race on either bike, the Soloist is going to be a little bit faster as it's more aero and sports a more aggressive position. Personally I'm waiting for a Soloist-5 to come out within the next couple years.
I thought the S5 was ugly, but this thing takes the cake and is even worse. It looks like the rear end has been "rear ended". Geeeeez. I had a 2010 Cervelo RS and I'd take that bike before I bought one of these. Sorry to be negative, but I'm just speaking my truth. It's probably an ok bike for a lot of folks, but not me. I will say that I've been thinking of getting an R5 or Soloist though.
Road bikes are rarely UDH, and only few flagship gravel bikes have compatibility. There's no T-Type road specific groupset. The new aspero is UDH though.
These days when making bicycles not suppose to be rocket science anymore the prices suppose to be more human. Nice bike but probably doesn't give value for the money.
Why is the flat kit bag designed for butyl tubes? In 2024, no one buys butyl tubes anymore. TPU tubes are far superior - lighter, smaller, faster. And if you are going to buy a $12k bike, $20 more for TPU tubes is not a big deal. Cervelo, you just insulted my intelligence with this knucklehead design.

Nice review, thanks.
The prices are getting stupid these days. Glad that I got the "old" caledonia frame for a discount these year (1200€).
Looks like a Defy. Geo is very similar too. Would be interested to see how they stack up against each other in the real world.

we all gaslight ourselves especially when purchasing the next bike, the next upgrade, even the smallest new bike part/accessory. 🤣
That prices... Its not worth the price...
The Carbon boys are running scared . We'll have 3D custom bikes made for you , like Serotta years ago . That's why the price hike !!!
Hopefully they changed the BB to T47 like the new Aspero! I like this bike because of the geometry but I'd chose the new Aspero over it because of the price.
Holy stack height!
Gravely stack for front wheel slippage on the tarmac .
I wonder how different this bike would be vs the new Aspero with the same wheels and tires.
you mentioned everything except the Soloist. Is it due for as revamp or a demise?

We'll have 3D bikes in a few years . Made to your body measurement, like Serotta did years ago !!

Big difference with the soloist? Can I race on this?

@@MikemoRides great idea. thanks for the answer!

Is this an UDH frame?
It does not have the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger

I have an R5 but looking for an endurance bike. But man why the frame storage?!?!
More aerodynamic storage - you can keep your flat kit inside
The 12 year old was superfluous to this video. Could have just been a solo presenter.
Is randomly came up😢

Just put 2+ TPU tubes in the bag
Cal 5 is taller and "longer"? ua-cam.com/video/Jb-hdAvbbKU/v-deo.html
He means longer wheelbase, not reach
I know this is just an advertisement, but it sounds so scripted and stilted I couldn't get through more than a minute.
Lol yep the soloist is gonna get discontinued
that girl looks twelve. it might be time for her bed time
I thought the same. LOL
