The word 'nice' has it's roots in Middle English, meaning someone who is stupid, or ignorant.
People don't trust fake, insincere, incompetent people who aren't masters of their craft AKA experts.
Rapport comes from other person feeling like you can help them get what they want and take back control of their lives, not from benign commonalities that are completely irrelevant to the task at hand.
The trusted expert and authority figure wins over the 'nice guy' approach 100 percent of the time.
Thanks for the time and effort you put into these, Adam, the content is superbly practical, and you can tell that this is a way of life for you, not just a cash grab by some fake guru who couldn't sell a roof to save his life.
I hate people like that, but you, I like, my man, you're a monster salesperson and a massive contributor to the industry.

Your response was incredibly well articulated and super helpful. Thanks for teaching me about the Middle English roots of the word 'nice' - I had no idea.
Appreciate you dude. Thanks for the support and for adding so much value with this comment.
It's people like you that the industry needs more of.
      Sending my best your way.

This completely makes sense. There is a certain tipping point where building rapport seems to go too far. I'm guilty of leaving a sales call feeling like it went really well and that the prospect liked me alot after some extended conversation, but it usually doesn't convert to a sale.

@@TheRoofStrategist Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I have to confess, I'm in hardscape sales not roofing, but much of this applies to us, too. Just like roofing, no one gets excited about replacing their retaining wall 😂

Adam I truly get what you're saying. I am not a roof salesman but your sales techniques are helping. I'm in the door-to-door sales business for Internet, and I don't have people coming to me telling me they have problems, I'm knocking on doors and trying to draw out of them if they're having problems. I do find myself being very concerned about leaving a lasting impression, trying to be the friendly guy, and I think they know that and I think they use that to turn me down, because I'm a nice guy and I can take it. But the truth is I need sales!

Hi Adam, I started a solar co and I do great work, but I am not good at selling/closing. Different people have different strengths, and different approaches.. what YOU do and say connects with my experience. Your videos (like this one) help me more clearly understand what I am doing wrong. Thank you for the insight.

Hey Adam man, I love and appreciate your content, I love that you address all aspects of the lifestyle - and not just the technical, sales process stuff. But this constant camera zoom in and zoom out, and slow zoom in, in your editing process, gives me a headache for some reason

Hi Sr. How's it going? This is a lot easier than getting a reply on Facebook from you, I hope all is well, brother, I have a question, If I have solar installers and panels for many states, and I have a team of my own that can get appointments for the solar consultation, how on earth can I find the solar sales team, without the solar guys being sketchy and taking our appointments to other companies depending on the bigger commission they can get paid for it? I really want to know, this haunts me at night 😢
