The 86 platform's reputation as a clapmobile definitely precedes it. Even my normie friends that aren't into car culture but want a fun car get scared when I bring them up as something to check out.

I drive a newer GT86, its oem+ with some track time, and i hate seeing such a good starter platform getting just completly shitted on by teenagers because its the only "cool" car they can afford 😑
For track days, this car was made for sending it. How many stanced boys do you see on the track? I have up to 3 degrees of camber, but its for gripping corners. You have no idea what this car is capable of hence no idea why we feel like its such a tragedy when people ruin this car for clout. Rant over.

The G cars especially aren't the fastest land-borne objects in the known universe but that doesn't mean you have to fuck the car up to serve another purpose. I have THE worst 86 seller story: dude buys a 2013 BRZ Limited 6 speed, alcantara/leather, spoiler, fog lights, factory upgraded stereo, brand new. Drives it gently for 9k miles over 4 years. Garage kept and under a car cover when not driven. Never had food in the car. Never driven in rain. Never hooned. Never drifted. Thing was completely mint like new. Sells it for $19k, with just 9k miles and still under factory drivetrain warranty. Sounds amazing? Yeah it was - for the buyer! For me, the seller, I’m kicking myself every day for the last 8 years! I might have to buy a new one again before they stop building them, and just store it in my garage (I have enough cars to drive as is!). If I do, I won’t sell it for $19k when I need the space!
My wife has a ‘18 BRZ limited, 6MT, garage kept and bone stock, only work done so far has been consistent oil changes and new tires. Original brakes are still good after 40k miles. Pretty nice car when treated well.
That shift knob will clean. My current car had a disgusting shift knob like that, thought it was just the material peeling and drove like that for a year and a half. Finally decided to try and clean it just for the hell of it, to my horror it was ALL human gunk from the previous owner.

I miss my 13 BRZ. RIP, but I don't miss the note. Back then my monthly payment was like $450/mo 😂 It was blue and I had Ray's gold STi wheels and vinyl wrapped the top gloss black. I did all that and put a whiteline rear sway bar on it withing the first month of owning it. When the dickhead turned in front of me and it was totaled, I got all my aftermarket parts off. My STi wheel took the brunt of the force and didn't break! I have it in my shop as a center piece 😂
