    • @sabishiihito
      @sabishiihito Рік тому

      I blame the defense more than Shanahan. Last season (2021) the Bucs went up 35-3 on the Bears in a game, only scored 3 pts the entire 2nd half, and still won 38-3 because the D shut down Chicago's offense. Atlanta was up 3-21 at the half and scored a TD in the 3rd qtr to make it 3-28. The defense needed to do its job.

    • @stevegallo8483
      @stevegallo8483 Рік тому +2

      @@sabishiihito I can agree with that, but running the ball and taking time off the clock would give the defense more time to get their breath when the offense is on the field. Atlanta abandoned the run game in that Super Bowl.

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 Рік тому

      @@sabishiihito Shanahan knew what was wrong with that defense. Ergo, you make in-game changes as needed. What sank Buffalo _this season_ was that very inability. The Bengals came in with plans on O & D & possibly with ones to flip to if/after Buffalo adjusted.
      They never did. Same with Shanahan. He has this _bad tendency_ in the clutch to mentally withdraw into his version of the fetal position & try One All-Encompassing System of Protection when there is No Such Thing. If football was that easy, Matt Canada couldn't suck at it that badly. Shanahan can _get_ you there.
      But he crumples away in the clutch *consistently.* We should be able to see that by now. (It may be why Aaron Rodgers refused to be traded to San-Fran, but I truly do not know that).

      In the _super-bowl?_ Ummm...
      ua-cam.com/video/DJh9lQ8x7qQ/v-deo.html No. & even then, did _he catch_ that interception, make that game-winning field goal, hold the Greatest Show On Turf to under 10 points? Plus he's almost always had a top-10 defense.
      In 5 of nine playoff games, Aaron Rodgers' defenses gave up 37+ points. In 324 _career _*_STARTS,_* Brady's teams only ever gave up that many points *eight times!*
      There's more, but the videos made by the guy who made the one I linked will say it all. He's the _only_ top-tier QB of his era to play on a team with consistently good defense. The Colts with Manning & the Packers with Rodgers had one good year each with the Packers in particular being at or near the bottom consistently. Brees on the Saints?
      Don't make me laugh. Same for Matt Ryan. Never had a _decent_ defense, Brady is like the '85 Bears only because he's the Golden Boy, Brady gets all the attention _they_ deserved. If you score 13 points in a game & win, that's the defense, not you.
      I think there were more than one playoff game where Brady wasn't involved in any of the scoring & they won. He still got the credit for being there, even though so was the water-boy. If anything, Brady has failed far more in the playoffs than succeeded, & besides, this video was about people who made their rep _in the clutch,_ so like, weren't good anytime else (or bad in Fran Tarkenton's case. Sad, he's one of my all-time favorite players).

    Why do we do this with Eli Manning he was an average quarterback that had a couple good runs in the in the playoffs on way to a Superbowl. He played big a couple of times that does not make you clutch a broke clock is right twice a day. I don't see anybody propping up Julian Edelman for only being good during the playoffs. It's a myth that he was clutch if he did not play quarterback literally no one would give a flying s***. And people need to stop acting like they didn't have a historically great defensive line on both of those teams and a flat-out dominant run game. Yeah they're not in position to do anything if not for the defensive line harassing Brady. Eli has absolutely no business being considered for the Hall of Fame

    So one bad play by a player in a Super Bowl makes him a choker? The accusations against Wes Welker and, especially, Jackie Smith, are bullsh*t. Smith is one of only 8 TEs in the Hall of Fame, and had an impeccable career. Yes, he will always be remembered for that play, but it hardly stands as a capsule description of his contributions to the teams he played for. Welker was a 4-time All-Pro, a 5-time Pro Bowler, a 3-time NFL receptions leader, and tied the record for most receptions in a Super Bowl. The incompletion he's cited for here was as much on Brady for throwing a terrible pass to a wide-open receiver. Was the ball catchable? Perhaps, but by any measure it would've been a tough catch. I'd love to see the keyboard warrior who put this film together do better, if he could put down his burrito and diet Sprite long enough to turn off his computer and lift himself out of his desk chair.

    First of all, if Pete Carroll doesn't make a HUGE blunder by calling a terrible play, the second bad play call in a big game in his career, people would be asking... Malcolm who?
    Secondly, I think it's wrong to put Matt Ryan on this list as a choker. However, I think that there are 11 Falcons players from the same game that more than deserve a place on the list... All 11 defensive players. The Falcons had a 25 point lead in the 3rd quarter of that SB when the defense gave up 31 points to lose the game. How do they not make the list yet Ryan does? 🤔

    Labeling Malcolm Butler as a legend is wrong. I think the NFL wanted the Patriots to win that game, so they said, you win this we will find a way to punish you. The second thing is that the league was not happy with Marshawn lynch, so they may also or have said something like this. If Marshawn Lynch is the hero, we will find a way to punish you.

      I don’t think I’ve ever heard that angle. Butler made some shoulder contact? He didn’t grab, played the ball; I’d love to talk trash about that Pats win. I really would. I don’t think that was PI tho.

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 Рік тому

      @@jluchette Don't worry, it wasn't. The defender is allowed to play the ball too. If he goes for the ball, anything he hits to get it is not PI. Had he shoved away a receiver who was _NOT_ in his way for leverage or to prevent *them* from playing the ball, that would have been PI. But nothing in the rules says he has to go _around_ someone in his direct line to the ball.

      If Brady plays 20 years earlier he lasts 3 seasons. Maybe I am exaggerating, but Brady was only a product of the times that helped protect him. Amazing talent, no doubt. Definitely the best of the last 25 years. But, put him in the 80's, non-fantasy football era and he isn't even close. So the GOAT? No. But GOHE (Greatest of His Era) for sure.
