      They did send that NBA ref to prison for "Fixing Games". Why not have the Police/Sheriff/Law Enforcement at the various games, for reasons other than crowd control? Have the LEO talk to the refs/umpires BEFORE each game, inform the refs,"We'll be reviewing every call, after the game. If we notice any impropriety, i your crews officiating, we will charge you. arrest you, incarcerate you. Just a word of warning folks. Fixing sporting events is ILLEGAL. Now let's have a cleanly called, honestly officiated game." Of course if a DC, State politician lost a large sum of money due to a bad call, there'd be wall to wall, Congressional hearings. IMO. Have you ever noticed the "Spread" on football games, is almost perfect,every week? The upsets do come, but they're very few, in the total amount of games.

    I feel like the Myles Jack call is an interesting one, because it's not just about a bad call but also some larger questions about how to handle situations like that. I feel like what it comes down to is, if there's two possible outcomes, one is reversible and the other isn't, and the referees are anything but certain of the call in the moment, they should ALWAYS err on the side of the reversible call, which in this case would be not blowing the play dead. I know that's not a perfect solution either because of the ambiguous replay rules (specifically that they favor the original call), but there's just such an imbalance of possible outomes in these kinds of cases that it feels like that needs to be taken into major consideration in making those calls.

      Don’t forget that the referee can let the play go to its natural conclusion and then come back and say “the ruling on the field is that the player was down by contact” and THEN they can go to review. If review shows the players wasn’t down by contact they can then allow the entire touchdown run to be allowed since they never whistled the play dead on the field.

    People who aren’t Saint fans will never truly understand the pain of the “Nola No Call” that 2018 Saints team was the best and most complete team we’ve ever had even better than ‘09 and 11’ teams….the year we won the super bowl in 09’ we averaged 31 points a game, and lost 3 games to DAL, CAR, & TB the year we got robbed 18’ we averaged 31 points a game and lost to the same 3 teams DAL,CAR, & TB….think about that for a second!!! To make things worse Brees legacy was changed forever I truly believe if we didn’t get robbed we would’ve destroyed that Patriots team and than what would Brees legacy be with 2 SB victories over Peyton & Brady???? Problem is, the league defends ref screwups to the point of pure insanity. Look at the rules for making a catch now; that entire multi-paragraph section that requires zoom ins and watching the motions of the ball exists SOLELY because the refs botched a Calvin Johnson catch.
      You see it in other sports, too; the refs screw up and rather than punishing the refs, the league makes up complicated rules to cover the situation, because apparently that's better than admitting your guy blew it.

    I am of the opinion, NFL, NBA, MLB, are like Pro Wrestling, are Exhibitions, NOT, true competitions. The ONE difference being Pro Wrestling has BETTER officiating. If any one ever read the book, the NBA ref, who was incarcerated for "Fixing Games", you'll remember, he said, he wasn't the only ref involved. That the NBA Champion was predetermined, BEFORE the season started. I was a rabid sports fan until 1979, when I watched the Steelers/Oilers game mentioned in this video. The entire nation saw it was a TD. The longer I watched, after that, I noticed SO many bad calls in all pro sports, I gradually decided that the games, regardless of the sport (except Golf) were fixed. Don't get me going on the NCAA Basketball Tournament, or their Football "Play Off" (they could've invited the TOP 16 teams & had the entire thing over in a month. All the other NCAA Football Divisions have a Play Off system, why not their Top Division?) ANY time there is as much $$$ involved as there is now, corruption, cheating, fixed games, etc, are bound to happen.) I have watched 1 Super Bowl since the year the Saints won, that was when the NFL allowed the KC Chiefs to win.Haven't watched the World Series since 2005, haven't watched the NBA Playoffs or Championship , since the year both Boston (who I never liked) & OKC were both, obviously HOSED so Miami (read LeBron) CHeat, could win a Championship. I agree the Patriot dynasty was a complete set up, as well. I only watch highlights of the NFL,if I watch at all. Very sad, IMO.

      So, here’s the thing…it’s a good call, and that sucks. I’m a Packer fan, and I’m saying Dez caught the ball. Please keep that in mind. The way the rule of possession was written at the time, it was the correct application of the rule, making the catch not a catch.
      So what I’m saying is that common sense says that Dez caught the ball. The rule, at the time, said that it wasn’t a catch. Therefore, the rule legislated common sense out of the play, and that’s the ridiculous part.

      There were clear penalties the Steelers committed on their long touchdowns that were uncalled despite being more egregious compared to penalties called against the Hawks for the same thing. 2001 Jacksonville vs Browns. Browns pass on 4th and 2 with 1 minute left. The ball is caught. The Browns hurry up and the quarterback pump fakes then grounds the ball, that is intentional grounding. Refs go to review the intentional grounding call and come back with...incomplete pass on the previous play! Wait what? Yup they claim the review booth buzzed them before the play but the refs missed it, so they went back to review two plays prior. The fans got pissed and started going ballistic, so the refs just decided to end the game with 38 seconds left. They just decided to end it. The NFL had to tell them 20 minutes later that they can't do that and to get the teams back out and finish the game. I think that mess qualifies as the worst ref call in NFL history.

    • @jasonmohn1472
      @jasonmohn1472 2 роки тому

      @@jackofallgamesTV Are you saying the ref gave him diabetes? Cause that's what he died of, so pretty sure manslaughter is out. Also that was just an accident, ref threw a flag on the play and Brown was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It sucks but that is life. Brown did get $25 MILLION and got to play 3 more seasons. So pretty sure you're making a bigger deal about this than should be.

      @jackofallgamesTV 2 роки тому

      @@jasonmohn1472 sorry, I should have put my .) to indicate it was mostly joking.
      But seriously it was a fluke accident, mean it not caused by carelessness, aka gross neglegence. It could have happened with any ref and any player. Also the long time it took for Brown to die made it not direct enough to be manslaughter. Diabetes plus the long term eye injury combined to kill him.
      But he did rob him of his livelihood. But that's what NFL insurance is for.
      At worst legally, if a player safety procedure to not throw in the general direction of a player was in place, it could have been gross negligent injurious behavior. (assault is not the right term because that would imply intent in aiming for the eye.). But it was a windy day, so the range is longer. An unfortunate incident.

    Charles Woodson stripped the ball out of Brady's hands. Greg Biekert recovered it. With 1:50 left to play the Raiders could easily run out the clock. It was called a fumble so the refs had to have irrefutable evidence to overturn the call. So the refs huddled up and came up with the worst BS call ever. It wasn't really a surprise because Rice and Brown were held on every play and the refs would not call it. It was 100% biased play calling from beginning to end. If you watch carefully you will see bad calls over and over in playoff games. If they call games fairly it is sport. If the NFL picks winners and losers it is a show... Like professional wrestling.
