To the person requesting more videos featuring Zato, your wish has been granted. On the subject of this video/matches: The amount of damage Slayer inflicts on Zato - with his low HP and 0 guts is quite painful to watch. It's scary to know that due to Slayer's much higher return (damage) and reward for initiating its offense, the Zato player can lose the game at any time - even if in an extremely advantageous position. Now, I'm not the one to call for nerfs, but for heaven's sake ASW, please reduce Slayer's damage...
Slayer downplayers will continue to say that his damage is justified because he has poor defense. Like ok fair enough, but the fact that he can just erase entire characters' health bars in a few hits is still ridiculous and beyond frustrating to play against. Not even hating on Slayer either, I think he's a cool character.
Slayer needs it to be hard to get in, for starters. Like his K Mappa is stupid and practically plays neutral for him, there’s no reason not to spam it. Additionally, I do think his damage is stupid but it’s because of his RISC buildup. Leave his actual damage statistics alone but slash his RISC buildup when his attacks are blocked.
Tbf there are a lot of characters that can win seemingly randomly, it's the nature of Strive. I do think slayer is slightly overtuned rn though. I think his health is too high and he has too much access to positive, and he doesn't build you enough burst on hit since his combos are lots of big hits rather than a ton of little ones. Maybe you could make 632146S like 15 hits instead of one? That might fuck up the clean hit though idk.
@@zurgtm7715Your stance regarding Slayer is more than justified - I do believe he does a bit too much damage - as even incredibly simple combos can deal 50% damage to some characters. Moreover, having poor defense does not justify high reward for fairly low effort; Asuka probably had/has the worst defense in the game, and he turns into the absolute worst character in the game with no Mana Shield, but Gobou, and I also, still felt that he deserved all the nerfs he got in the balance patch - because poor defense is no excuse when the character's win condition is too advantageous - even if it was very hard to pull off effectively (Asuka's "Solitaire"). Now it is very, _very_ rare that I complain about a character, but I feel the biggest issue with Slayer is the accessibility to the damage he inflicts - in the older games, Slayer dealt a large amount of damage, similar to that in GGST - the difference between Slayer in the previous games compared to his GGST version, is that Slayer in the older games was a very technical character - hard to use, hard to master, and was mechanically difficult to operate; his GGST iteration is much easier, and while Slayer's huge damage in the previous titles was gatekept by the character's difficulty - in GGST, he appears to be what some would call a, "anybody can cook" character. Also, with the risk it builds up with its attacks and moves, Slayer should have been more technical than Asuka - again, too much return for too little effort. Now if you play a character that builds risk faster than average like Zato, I-No, Chipp, or Asuka - taking your turn back against Slayer's offense will determine your success in the round/or set... Chipp's Risk rating is the highest I believe, at 40.0; now I completely understand why they appear to dodge the Slayer match-up...
@@waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 As an I-No main myself, yeah, the Slayer matchup is very frustrating at times. Feels like I have to sweat my ass off to win, meanwhile if I mess up even once it just completely turns the match in his favor. I don't even avoid Slayer players either, I enjoy the challenge and want to improve my skills, but getting promoted to higher floors only to get instantly stomped by Slayer players is quite disheartening.
@@gs4011 While not making as much lore sense, I think nerfing his HP would make more sense balance-wise Slayer can take a lot of risks as-is, and he only needs to guess once to decimate you I also personally don't like K Mappa.. like at all but that's just me being a hater

But I got to celestial because of him. And I'm winning a lot of matches ever since he came out. It makes sense for him to do a lot of damage because he's a very handy character. If anything, I think he needs a buff because his overhead is a bit slow. People just need to block more and get used to the matchup!
Slayers core principles since accent core has been doing high damage and being easy to play. Slayer is new people will learn to counter him just like accent core and rev so stop whining like its the end of strive those players are only playing him to go up in ranked are going to stagnate and face players who are going to constantly whoop their ass and are either going to move to the next dlc character when they get bored,go back to their original main, or keep playing Slayer and getting better with him because they actually enjoy playing the character.
Buff Lord Slayer lol. If people are having fun with the character. There is no point in arguing whether the character is a gorilla or not. Right above comments point out how he is a very helpful character for celestial. Arc system seems to be more aware of having fun with people getting bodied.

Gorilla strive is not a competitive game. That is, of course, you can compete using gorillas from the meta, but technical and risk characters like Millia are not needed here. Nothing has changed for 3 years now. The meta of the game is braindead cheap garbage with broken damage, or a broken autopilot that just skips neutral and cuts you off in the corner. these are two extremes in this game. and Millia is stuck somewhere in the middle, powerless against them. Garbage game. the worst thing they could have done to the series. narrow, variable-free tunnel and gutted gameplay. don't mind me. I'm a fake, just like your game. Strive is fake guilty gear. I just can’t believe that after a masterly xx or even xrd, they released this shame. It’s not surprising that this dirty game has gathered the worst and most prejudiced community around it.
