This was the first computer game i ever played. It was the summer i came of age. I listened to a lot of motley crue and played this game along with space quest. Whenever in hear home sweet home, it reminds of that summer
This was the first computer game I ever played. I had played a few 8-bit cartridge games on Atari or Nintendo before, but never on a PC. My mom, my sister and I played it as a group. It took us a few months to complete it, as we were completely guessing on what to do and had to discover each step by trial and error and we only spent about half an hour per day playing it. On a later playthrough, I got a bizarre glitch by sheer accident and fortunately had the presence of mind to save the game in the moment. I fell off the fisherman's pier just as the scene changed from the land end of the pier to the sea end. When the scene changed, Rosella was standing on the pier in a bizarre and gravity defying pose. If she moved, she did these impossible dance motions. I finally figured out what had happened when I typed in the "look around" command and was told by the game that I was swimming beside the pier, rather than doing an unnatural dance on top of it. It turns out that the "dance" was swimming motions when not in the water!
Oh wow, I love that glitch! Yeah this might be the first adventure game I really remember playing as a kid, myself. And yep, played it with my dad and brother. One of the greatest of all time.
While I have very vague memories of King's Quest 1, this is the first King's Quest game I really remember playing for any stretch of time. Fun to get to watch it played through fully as I'm sure I never actually finished it as a kid lol
I used to play this every Saturday as a kid on the family computer. My favorite KQ game. 34:00 - I play this occasionally even now and I always choose to save the mission of snagging the fruit until after nightfall as well. The swamp scene looks so enchanting under the stars.
I prefer the proportions from the previous game, though of course, this games graphics are better overall. As for the fruit, are we supposed to think its not known about by many? Why is such a rare and precious resource available to the royalty of Daventry at all?
It's a very fair question, Jonathan. I'm also curious as to what happened to Graham in the first place that only this fruit can cure him. If I were a conspiracy theory guy I'd start to suspect Genesta considering it works out pretty well for her that Rosella has to come to her land to get the fruit.
Well I really enjoyed KQ3, it was more the concept I enjoyed. KQ5 is my favorite of the official releases. The fan made remake of KQ3 is my favorite. Updated graphics and point and click interface
Agreed, if the execution was a bit different KQ3 would be higher up in my personal ranking. 3 covers a lot of ground, as well, as you go all over Manannan's place + do the spells, the nearby lands, across the sea on the pirate ship, and all the way back to Daventry.
@@shounenbat510 Best part is that I just finished watching a playthrough of Discworld that has both a lady tied for a dragon, referring to it as fun and games, and "fun and games" nudge nudge wink wink.
@@shounenbat510 Discworld is a series of books that all are parody of basic fantasy. The solutions to the puzzles are very strange but make sense once you become more familiar with the Disc. If you are playing by yourself take the time to enjoy all the dialogue and have a hintbook/guide on the side.
1:09:00 how do you get an incredibly heavy pipe organ up a very rickety flight of wooden stairs into an attic space, where the floor itself looks not to be reinforced?
Let's Play With Brigands I can't wait :) You should have had a billion subscribers by now. Again, why the hell does PewDeePie have more than 1 subscriber???
Ok, so I liked this one and the 3rd one, they're not exactly as good as KQVI, but they were worth playing. I played the KQIII remake which was pretty much the same as the original except the typing, the graphics and the voice acting. When they remade KQII they made the gameplay different than the original. Yea, I don't know why they never made a remake of this game with point 'n' click and voice acting, I mean this one where you play Rosella is a lot better than KQVII.
The fruit only grows once in one hundred years. It coincidentally is growing when King Graham is dying. And for some reason, he is the one person in the whole world in the next hundred years that deserves the fruit? He already had adventures and heirs. Oh well, overthinking the plot of games like this is a fruitless exercise.
Heh fruitless, it's a fair point, though. Wouldn't have had KQ5 without it, though, and as a result KQ6. That's probably better than some rando getting saved by the fruit.
**THIS GAME WOULD HAVE BEERN A WHIOLE LOT SHORTER, IF YOU GOT THE APPLE FROM THE TREE, AND THEN WHISKED OFF TO THE WHITE TOWER, WHERE YOU CAN RETURN HOME AGAIN..... THE REST WAS JUST NONSENCE**
Whatever bae. I'ma comandeer your UA-cam channel until we're done. We've played GTA V for far too long. Or I'll start let's play with Jam Jam and be more awesome.
+Fred “BINGO is My Name-O” Flinstone It's what I've come to expect. Honestly I'd be worried if you had had any different reaction to me saying I was eating a gala apple.
An easter egg I learned when I was 10. If you type "Remove clothes" it says "Not in front of the game players!"
And if you say "F**k you" it tells you to play Leisure Suit Larry.

Ha I know exactly what you mean associating music with games and times. Good times and good memories, Juan. Thanks!

Yep you and me both, and glad to hear it!
Another Sierra game, good times! Love the "Astro Chicken" theme from "Space Quest" towards the end!!
+Loneman1 Haha that's where I knew that from, good call.
The Sierra chicken song is called “Chicken Reel,” written by Joseph M. Daly in 1910.
@@ObiWanBillKenobi I absolutely did not know that! Cool info!

Good detail, Obi. I just gave it a spin myself.
LOL, we would play the cleaning music while we cleaned too, amazing

@1:19:15 its like that punky brewster episode where she had to kill a monster by saying she loved it!
That's true. Not enough heroes try playing the love card.
"First time experience fear." What about that time you where tied up to be offered to a dragon?
Nah, that's just fun and games!

When will you be gracing your youtube fans with another livestream??? I love your videos. I finally learned how to post videos from the Xbox One.

Yeah 3 stayed a lot closer to the original than 2 in the fan remakes. And completely agree on KQ4>KQ7 substantially so, ha.

Already did, how embarrassing for you: ua-cam.com/video/c_umNImUvpU/v-deo.html
Never really played the Kings Quest series and I wouldn't be able to get past the EGA graphics lol
+JustaGuy This one's VGA man, come on!
That's VGA?
Maybe 5 was the first VGA.
I think that is the one I played then but I think they remade the earlier ones so not sure which one I actually played.
They did the official VGA remake of 1 (actually the one I played as part of the playlist), not sure if they ever did 2 or 3, Sierra that is.
3:47 You're eating a GAY-la apple? Tony, it's not nice to call gay people FRUITS. For shame, for shame
