Those Chickens in the chicken coop look mad realistic even though they don't. That pecking is perfection. The flickering candles and torches are epic. Come on this is priceless
This was the first game I played as a kid! My dad had it and I felt all grown up when I completed it! I died coming down that mountain all the time, lol. Tips: Kick the cat to get it to move (it's evil anyhow and will kill you if it can) Grab the map before going down the mountain For the bandit tree house, just type "look inside" first to see if they are asleep or not. If asleep, you can go inside For the 3 bears, you get more points if you do it just like goldilocks, so taste each porridge before the last... then try each bed and sleep in it until papa bear comes in to chuck you out Also, pretty sure you can not feed him... he just punishes you, I believe
Good supplementary tips which I didn't know. The bandit tree tip makes sense but I'm surprised they actually put that in the game, handy! On the cat - I think I had it in my head that the cat got more aggressive if you did that but I guess it will try to trip and kill you regardless whenever given the chance.
Yep this one gave me the creeps when that music would kick up and you'd sit down to attempt to cast a spell properly, rare as it would actually work, heh.
I haven't played any of the King's Quest games in forever, I don't even think I ever played 3 or a few of the others. Found you from your Gabriel Knight 1 playthrough and am working my way through all the old games, enjoying them immensely. Thanks so much for uploading
Excellent, yeah Sierra was arguably my favorite developer when I was a kid so I've got their games pretty well covered by now. Thank you for sticking around after GK1 and watching!
Don't forget to 'check ID' the first time you receive it, else the game is un-win-able later as if you don't, the ID is flagged as 'fake' and you lose.
Mannananan will show up on the ship and kill you if you haven't cat'd him. But he takes something like 8 seconds per screen to show up so you can avoid him. It's a speed-running strat.
@@LetsPlayWithBrigands I did the challenge of turning him into a cat on his first trip away. You have 15 min (give or take a handful of seconds) to do everything and you have to make at least one return trip to the house, to brew a spell, and then return down. The map is absolutely essential.
Rough playthrough. I thinks it's obvious watching a new generation try to play these 1980's games. There was no internet, no guides, nothing. Just your wits and patience. A much better time
I used Dfend Reloaded which is a front end Dosbox application. I believe I literally copied the files for the game from the CD-ROM of the collection/series I have, pasted them to my hard drive, then just told Dfend where the application for the game was and it worked without issue.
@@LetsPlayWithBrigands thanks, I’ll have to go and look all of that up on Google. Do you set up a Virtual Machine to run DosBox? Or does it work in the Windows 10 environment?
The hell i endured in this game trying to get down the mountain shaped me who I am as a person today.
That mountain is real terror.

You didn't have the shovel with you this time, dope. Check your inventory.
Dope!

You forgot sitting in each chair.
I still remember the day I realized you could “put stuff under bed” and avoid being killed. It was a magic moment.
Ha true.
This game taught me so many life skills
Fantastic boombastic! I had this on IBM in 1993!
Yep this one gave me the creeps when that music would kick up and you'd sit down to attempt to cast a spell properly, rare as it would actually work, heh.
That music tone when wiz pops up is well made, creepy. :)
I know, considering they only had 16 colors or so to work with, this game could be effectively creepy with instances like that.
This game is 100% the reason for my superlative typing skills.
I didn't think about that but that's a good point, these typies did hone our skills.
Are you old enough to remember ‘typing class’ in school? Haha these games were much more helpful than that class

if you use the pgup/pgdn/home/end buttons you can move diagonally..helps for stairs.
Good call! It's definitely tricky just using up and down. This was still a bit before mouse compatibility was standard.
Play this game again. Get a perfect score this time.
I used to love kicking the cat, haha
player types: "Kick cat" Narrator: "Hehehehe*
Yep.
So very many of these Sierra games I spent hours on. I got stuck in Police Quest and had to wait a month for the Hint Book I ordered to arrive
Ah that's rough, probably figured out the part you were stuck on before it showed, but luckily you were probably stuck on something else by then.

I’ve only ever played Kings Quest V so I’m enjoying watching all the other ones! You’re so funny too!
Thank you Yuna! Yes 4, 5, and 6 were an excellent stretch of games to me.
I love and prefer the “annoy-y typey versions” over the click ones.
As long as it pauses the action when you begin to type I enjoy them quite a bit more. Finding the correct query can be frustrating sometimes.
Found the hipster.

Haha that's interesting, didn't know that one. Never thought to try leaving without dealing with him first, heh.

Manannan
I could never beat this one
The laboratory was very unforgiving.

Yeah this one is definitely in a class of its own, combining the typing with the incantations it's especially rough.
The Bakgroud is no bad
King quest like police quest 1
How did you get this game to work on a modern computer running a modern operating system? Eg: did you use a VM running DOS, etc?

Yeah especially the spell creation part.
Not true. Pushing Up Roses did it. 🙃
@@ObiWanBillKenobi woow. Respect to him broo.
@@ObiWanBillKenobi She did it with assistance....the spell creation part is not intuitive, or even trial and error based..
@@JPLooney What are you talking about? The spell ingredients, spell instructions, and spell incantations are all completely given in the game manual.
😊😊😊🏰
