    Mr fisher views on books and stories of the past by using a different language devices such as simile, personification, alliteration, siblings. This is evident in the line ''which ran like gazelle's and pounced like Tigers and exploded like rockets '' the writer used simile here to convey on how fast things in order to show the readers how exciting Mr fisher finds them. Futhermore the quote '' Mr fisher, we dreamed in colour, through films were in black and while , and good always triumphed in the end '' the writer used colour imagery and a conjunction here to describe through Mr fisher , who had once dreamed so fiercely and excited of writing stories of his own.
    Similarly, the quote '' illumating minds and hearts '' Mr fisher is looking at the past stories is good to have a look at it and Mr fisher has a belief of good stories had an all- encompassing impacts on the readers . Furthermore the quote '' there were heroes; there were dragons and dinosaurs'' the writer has used alliteration here to describe how Mr fisher has dreamed in colour through films were in black and white colour and triumphed is the end card for the Mr fisher dreams. On the other hand the quote '' there were space adventure and soldiers of fortune and giant apes '' this quote is referring to how Mr fisher is prefer to novel of the past because this is implying that imagation of Mr fisher. And the quote '' he had seen it happen ; had seen whole clauses swept away in the fever . In those days, '' this is evident that almost personifies to books , giving it the ability to control and take over the children and this has emphasis the powerful potential effects of stories showing the strength of Mr fisher belief in them . On the other hand the quote '' Mr fisher not so long ago - when books were golden, when imagination soared, when the world was filled with stories it symbolic of inspire someone to think more creatively or to make a bold move on the extract .

    hello there! i’m resitting my eng lang and i don’t have anyone that could mark my papers so i was wondering if anyone could read my paragraph and give me appropriate advice and mark?
    The writer uses language to convey that Mr Fisher viewed stories and books of the past as inclusive, that in every story there was something which would interest everyone. This can be seen when Mr Fisher describes worlds which are filled with “stories which ran like gazelles and pounce like tigers”. Here the writer uses similes to showcase that books have a wide variety of genres to pick from that there will always be a book that a lines with one’s interests. This is shown through the use of “gazelles” and “tigers”, as gazelles are largely associated with romance and tigers, which are typically connote action. Furthermore, the verb, “ran” and “pounce” could suggest how fast paced and wild the imaginations of the school children are once the story is able to capture the diverse spectrum of interests within that classroom. Therefore it is clear that books are inclusive and hold particular aspects which are able to peak the interest of many different kinds of people.

    Is this ok? 😬
    Firstly, Harris has used sentence forms and language techniques within the first extremely long declarative sentence to help the reader vividly imagine how passionate Mr Fisher is about books. Similes like “ran like gazelles”, “pounced like tigers”, and “exploded like rockets.” create the sense of something at its fullest potential, thus metaphorizing how powerful Mr Fisher sees books. While using these three similes, the writer also includes The Power of Three, which further elevates the protagonist’s depiction of how powerful books were. The conjunction of these three powerful language techniques; similes, metaphor and The Power of Three greatly elaborate just how special books are to Mr Fisher. Although some may see the use of these three language techniques in once sentence as too much, the author has done this to show the extreme passion Mr Fisher feels about them.
    Furthermore, the writer employs juxtaposition in their writing to describe Mr Fisher's wistful thoughts. Specifically, they use the phrases "dreamed in colour" and "films were in black and white" to create a contrast that conveys negative connotations for the first time in the paragraph. Mr Fisher's mind goes from imagining vivid and fantastical things to being jolted back to reality, where films are only in black and white. This sharp contrast immediately helps readers identify with the protagonist, forging a symbolic bond between them and Mr Fisher that allows us to share in his nostalgia. This effective use of juxtaposition in the author's writing allows readers to better understand Mr Fisher's character and emotions, ultimately enhancing the overall reading experience and our connection to the story.

    @charlotte6427 9 місяців тому +7

    Could someone please mark this:
    The writer uses personification, simile, and listing to convey Mr Fisher's positive views of books and stories of the past. In the first sentence, the writer describes people who read books as having their "Imaginations soared." This personification conveys to readers the creativity and joy books brought to people by giving imagination a humanlike quality. Describing the imagination to "soar" conveys how it was heightened during that time and brought about new ideas that were not present before. It also conveys how readers could almost be transported to a different realm through these books and "soar" into a world of imagination, and readers feel a sense of joy and excitement, which Mr Fisher must have felt.
    Then, the use of the simile "When the world was filled with stories which ran like gazelles," conveys how quickly these books and stories were able to be shared and spread throughout the community, and readers feel a sense of love and connection between people through books, emphasising Mr Fisher's positive view on stories. Just like gazelles are thought to be beautiful and majestic creatures, it is clear that to Mr Fisher, stories are wonderful things that provide joy and beauty in people's lives.
    Finally, Mr Fisher's positive view on books is conveyed through the technique listing. In the third sentence, it is described that "there were heroes, there were dragons and dinosaurs, there were space adventurers and soldiers of fortune of giant apes" in books. The use of listing effectively conveys and emphasises how there was so much variety and imagined characters in stories. This is reinforced through the contrast between heroes, associated with good, and dinosaurs, associated with slightly scarier and stronger views, showing us how there was a story for everyone. Anything you could dream of would be contained in these stories and this repetition seeks to overwhelm readers with the experiences and wonder that could be read.
    Through the use of personification, simile, and listing, Mr Fisher's positive views on stories and the wonder, creativity, and joy that they brought to him.

    Hello : ) could you please mark this question 2 that i did as practice for the paper done in the video. (my current grade is a 7). Mr Fisher views books and stories of the past as more adventurous and exciting. The use of the simile 'stories ran like gazelles and pounced like tigers and exploded like rockets'. Here, the writer paints an image of the stories of the past from Mr fisher's point of view, the stories of the past are portrayed to be full of colour and joyfulness. The use of the verbs 'ran' , 'pounced' and 'exploded' highlight the action taking place in these stories. Furthermore, this could perhaps bring back memories from Mr Fisher's childhood and could emphasise Mr Fisher's love towards books. Therefore, This highlights Mr Fisher's preferance of books and stories of the past. The writer highlights Mr Fisher's love towards books of the past as he used to 'dream' about them in his sleep. The use of the juxtaposition between 'Colour' and the adjectives 'black and 'white' could perhaps be used by the writer to contrast between the different ideas that Mr Fisher has towards books and stories of the past and books and stories of the present. Additionally, this highlights how Mr Fisher admires the books of the past rather than books of the present time.

Your response demonstrates a clear understanding of the language used by the writer and its effect on the reader, and you have used a range of language techniques to explain how the writer portrays Mr Fisher's love for books of the past. However, to achieve full marks, you could have provided a more detailed analysis of the language used in the quotation and how it creates meaning.

    Can someone please mark my 2 paragraphs for Q2 on the Ugwu text and give me feedback, thanks!
    The writer uses a verb to present Ugwu's impression of the city, the quote 'he was too choked with expectation' suggests that he had soaring expectations of the city, specifically the verb 'choked' helps us to understand that he was excited for his new life abroad in the city, furthermore this creates a sense of curiosity as this is his first time experiencing something new away from the village.
    The writer builds on Ugwu's impression by the use of adjectives, 'streets so smooth and tarred that he itched to lay his cheek down on them' particularly the adjectives 'smooth' and 'tarred' suggest that the roads are clean and well made, this also suggests that he had never witnessed anything like it before as he lived in a deprived village. Furthermore the verb 'itched' describes uguw's eagerness to feel the road, reinforcing the idea of curiosity. This makes the reader feel happy for Ugwu and want to read on.

    If there are few moments in life that come as clear and as pure as ice, when the
    mountain breathed back at her, Zoe knew that she had trapped one such moment
    and that it could never be taken away. Everywhere was snow and silence. Snow
    and silence; the complete arrest of life; a rehearsal and a pre-echo of death. She
    pointed her skis down the hill. They looked like weird talons of brilliant red and gold
    in the powder snow as she waited, ready to swoop. I am alive. I am an eagle.
    for this text, is this good enough for a 1st paragraph?
    The writer uses language in this extract to enable the reader's comprehension of the character's setting, the character seems to be alone in a cold wintery setting.
    The quote ‘when the mountain breathed back at her’ is an example of how cold the setting truly was. The use of personification enables the reader to articulate the character's perception of the cold as indeed one of harmony and peace; the frigid air whirling around the setting can be seen as a symbol of the character’s view of the weather. Furthermore, the use of the verb ‘breathed’ downplays the strength of the wind as breathing is often warmer and weaker than cold air.

    for example, if the question asked ‘how does the writer use language to describe the view?’
    can i say:
    The writer uses a metaphor to describe the view as majestic & breathtaking, describing it as “….” (analyse). The writer further describes the view as majestic & breathtaking by using the simile “…..” (analyse).

      It is describing the stories available in the world, if there are some that “explode like rockets” and some that “run like gazelles” it’s implying that there is a different story anyone could enjoy, ie something for everyone, and “illuminating minds and hearts”.

    • @uhkoo
      @uhkoo Рік тому +1

      i think that the "gazelles" and the "tigers" is a simile for the stories so it is saying that it is almost as if the stories went everywhere as they "ran" and "pounced" thus spreading the stories throughout the population. if u imagine a gazelle running u would think it goes very far - just like the story

    • @toxic_gg867
      @toxic_gg867 Рік тому +1

      Gazzeles and tigers are different animals which mimics the variety of the stories. The difference is further accentuated by the verbs “ran” and “pounced”. Here the verb “ran” suggests a level of exhilaration than one reader may feel which is juxtaposed by the tiger having “pounced” which implies a book that was much more slow paced action that was quickly sped up. Both of these actions are intrinsic in nature to the
      survival of the animals which reflects the importants books hold and how one style of book is better suited to a person.

    Q5
    Story about a holiday
    It was a glamorous day where the place was so peaceful that you could only hear the
    humming, whirring and clapping wings of the birds; which was mellisonant and the sand was
    smooth like cotton, the sky was blanketed with clouds:there was a thin silver line shining out
    of the white clouds. My sister and I were enjoying the unforgettable moments there and
    making the best memories together. the only things i was thinking about was: the happiness;
    euphoric feeling and the joy that i was feeling. I prayed in tears that this happiness never
    ends as I was bursting out of joy!
    But it didn't last long
    .
    We sat there mediating about the beautiful different type of birds around and hearing the
    calm sound of the water until my sister asked” why don't we try to surf together” i was
    astonished as she have never tried to surf in a ocean.However, i didn't want to turn her down
    so i replied “are you sure?”, without hesitation with an exciting voice she said “yes im sure”.
    Then we put on our swimming suit and we got ready to surf. To my surprise she stuck her
    feet into the surfing board for the first time.
    When we started surfing, I quickly noticed that the day had become gloomy and the sky had
    been blanketed in dark black clouds; I knew disaster was going to happen.I tried to warn my
    sister that we should stop surfing as we couldn't see anything except from a heinous and
    rogue wave coming towards us. We were terrified and apprehensive. But it did crash us. I
    tried to swim in hopes I could find my sister when I didn't know if she could be alive.

      I would say that your answer would receive a mark of 12 or 13 out of 40. The response lacks a clear focus on the question and does not use language techniques effectively to create a sense of atmosphere or to convey the emotions of the narrator. The response also lacks a clear structure and does not use paragraphs to separate different ideas. To achieve higher marks, you should focus on the question and use a range of language techniques to create a sense of atmosphere and convey the emotions of the narrator. You should also ensure that your response has a clear structure and uses paragraphs to separate different ideas.
