    Eugene will stick my neck out and say finally finally this if the perfect sound we were waiting for. For me Accurascale have nailed it! I managed to get 001 a couple of weeks ago and it is outstanding! Cannot wait for your full in depth review of this beauty. Dont delay! Enjoyed cheers Nick.

      Thanks Nick. I won't disagree with you. After a week running this beauty, the experience couldn't be more different from what I had with the Hatton's version. It's a beauty.

    Love all my Bachmann Class 66's and have 12 of them solid reliable models, but the Accurascale models are even better so hats off again to the Accurascale boys. I recieved the GBRf, DRS and GBRf prostrate cancer livery models about a week and a half ago and got the shipping notification that the Freightliner G&W orange charity one arrives early next week.
    Also exciting news was the Accurascale Class 60 announcement. Placed my order already and have a couple of Cavalex Class 60's on order so looking forward to comparing them. Again have to admit the Hornby Class 60 is an excellent model and have 8 of them but they still annoy me with there lack of liveries and the prices. Saying that you can get some real bargains now on Hornby Class 60's.

      Thanks for sharing Jonathan. I did the same with my Cavalex order. The Hornby 60s are dated alright though still solid performers.

    Hi Eugene, they are the best 66s so far I got the DB red & DRS blue a week and a half ago and the two charity ones coming Monday 👍 looking forward to your full review cheers Al

    Another belter from Accurascale!
    All seems fine with this new version of the old Hattons model, Accurascale seem to worked out all the old faults and produced a fine looking and sounding model. I have to agree with the comments elsewhere, although I’ve always been impressed with the sound from my Hattons model, it always sounded like it had too much bass - the whole loft seemed to shake!!
    Looking forward to your full review Eugene
    Cheers John b😎

    Great stuff. My 66 landed a few days ago. May I ask where you got those hoppers from? I have hopper envy now 😂

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  15 днів тому +1

      I picked up the hoppers from Hattons a number of years ago (to go with the Hattons 66!). They are a combination of Bachmann 38-031, 38-032 and 38-032A with combination of factory weathering and a lot of custom weathering. After years on the shelf, it's their debut on the channel but they look good.

    A good video, perhaps a little too long, it also would have been nice to see a Driver in the Cab ! I only use DCC sound on my ‘O’ gauge stock due to the Quality and the cost involved. I do also fit CREWS into all my Steam and Diesel stock !

      Thanks for sharing Ron. The drivers didn't arrive in time unfortunately. Those bridge cabs cry out for drivers. Yeah, some more speed for 2 and 3 phases would have helped.

    To be honest I’m a bit disappointed with some of the sound functions. Whilst I do agree the overall sound is very good I think some of the sound effects are set too low ‘out of the box’ e.g. coupling clank, door slam, sanders, rail joint. I did change the CV settings for these functions per the supplied functions card and this made a considerable improvement in these sounds. However, after I had done this I found the cab lights wouldn’t operate. I’ve now reset to the factory settings and the cab lights are working again. I would be very interested to know if anyone else has had a go at altering CV sound settings and how you got on. Another wee question is if anyone has the Evening Star do you have a bell sound on F17 & F18. I only get the bell sound on F17. Perhaps just a typo on sound function card supplied with the models. When I select F18 nothing happens.

    • @sapphirejunction8993
      @sapphirejunction8993 23 дні тому +1

      I use a Lokprogrammer to change the CV settings for sound slots etc. thus works perfectly fine and its easy which I like.
      Yes the bell on the Evening Star only works on F17 and does nothing on F18 thus not sure why it assigned on the supplied card.

      @@sapphirejunction8993Many thanks for the reply. Possibly just a typo on the sound functions list. Thanks for confirming that only F17 operates the bell. I don’t have a Lokprogrammer so rely on my Z21 to alter CVs. Did you alter CVs for coupling clank, door slam, sanding etc.? I can change all these CVs okay and increase sound levels but for some reason after I’ve done this the cab lights don’t come on. Bit bizarre. Just decided to return CVs to factory settings and cab lights and all sound & light functions are working fine. Still getting the distortion due to the removable lid. The finger push trick works for a few minutes. I’ll need to take some time to ‘experiment’

      @@Andy1962-in-Kinross No I haven't altered any CV's apart from changing F15 Cab windows to have Spirax Valves instead but that didn't affect the cab lighting which is a bit bizarre on your one.
      That's the one thing that annoys me about Accurascale is there always something that interferes with the sound output.
      On my 4 class 37's I had crackling & distortion and it was resolved by swapping out the speakers from the supplied 4ohm to 8ohm which Accurascale put their hand up and supplied me to fit and that resolved the issues, apparently 4ohm didn't work properly because of the way they wired the speakers with the sugarcube which overloaded the decoder or something like that.
      I've had the sugarcube speakers replaced on both my Class 92's because they badly crackled when using the high horn so based on my own experience I think Accurascale still have a bit to learn before they can produce a loco that has flawless sound out of the box like the Cavalex Class 56 which I have.
      All 4 of my Class 66's have sound vibrating or distorting thru the removable roof panel at varying degrees and it comes & goes depending on how I've handled the loco but it takes away the enjoyment when presented with these niggly sound issues.

      @@sapphirejunction8993Many thanks for sharing your experience with these models. I have a Cavalex 56 too and like you have experienced flawless sound and performance in general. I did have an issue with the couplings not returning to centre causing a few derailments of wagons & coaches. Changed the couplings on the loco and used some lube on the mechanism and this worked for me. I think the perfect model has yet to be delivered by manufacturers.

    Convincing sound effects. The only thing that's not realistic is that the engine sounds just as loud in the distance! Of course on a OO gauge layout, the actual distance can only be a matter of a few feet, but the scale distance would attenuate the sound. I think you might be able to attenuate the sound in Audacity to make it more realistic as the loco pulls away. Thanks for uploading!

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  19 днів тому

      Thanks for commenting. I've sometimes edited the sound in POST to create a more realistic effect as you describe. It does take a chunk as each individual segment needs to be edited.

    • @AllensTrains
      @AllensTrains 19 днів тому

      @@EuviRail I thought about this after I posted this comment! I think it might be easier to set the volume lower on the speaker. A problem is the automatic gain control on the camera. Some cameras allow you to turn this off.

  • @sapphirejunction8993

    Now I've got 4 variants with sound but I do prefer the Legomannbiffo sound file to the one used by Accurascale which is done by Jamie Goodman.
    The hardware (Accurathrash speaker) setup is better on the Accurascale model as the EM2 speaker in the Hattons one had way too much bass and sounded too deep for this engine.
    The disappointing thing I have found so far with the Accurascale sound file is there is no individual Function Key to control the Spirax valves thus you cannot have it on whilst the engine is sitting somewhere on the layout popping away, why this has been left out is anyone's guess but instead you have useless functions like Cab Windows & Rail Joints.
    Btw your loco seems to be suffering from sound distortion which may be coming thru the removable roof panel, listen from 8:36 where it is prominent but it may be your mic or something else but it sounds identical to one of mine and when I press down on the removable roof panel or take it off the distortion disappears thus whilst the loco isn't moving try this test on yours just to make sure.
    Also the F3 High Horn is a good marker to test as it will send a buzzing type sound thru the roof panel if there is an issue.

      @@RedShedNick All 4 of my 66's suffer to some degree distortion or buzzing thru the removable roof panel.
      When I take them off each 66 and re-seat the roof panel the issue is resolved but comes back randomly and it is especially evident when you use F3 High Horn.
      Now as a further test, I put the roof panel from 66779 onto 66769 and it completely resolved the issue as the roof panel was a tighter fit even though a different livery lol.
      I just don't think the removable roof panels fit tight enough thus if you have miniscule play or looseness it will cause it to vibrate when playing sound thus you hear distortion which is a bit like a buzzing sound.

    Should be the lights go out on starting up and come back on just something that they got slightly wrong with the model
