This game was so ahead of it's time. Def Jam Fight for NY oozed style & uniqueness. Amazing character roster. Amazing soundtrack. Amazing fight mechanics & gameplay. Amazing story mode. No doubt one of the greatest fighting games of all time.
Not to mention it was expensive as fuck. All the characters are voiced by their real-life counterparts. I can’t imagine how much it cost to get that many hip hop stars to voice act in your game

And in the end we were getting the best looking games with a fun and enjoyable gameplay, now when there's no technical limitation, the majority of devs became lazy without any motivation, and all they make is mostly empty games without soul.

You know, it's funny how back then games were pretty ambitious despite the limited technology that made them. Nowadays we have the high technology, but modern games aren't as ambitious as their predecessors. I believe Def Jam: Fight For NY is proof of that.

This game is a CERTIFIED CLASSIC. I ain't gone lie, Snoop was my Nigha on this game. But the story mode on here was so damn dope!!! This has to be one of the greatest games ever! I beat this game over & over so much lol. It was worth it. This was the best one too out of the all 3 in my opinion. When I heard Snoop was the boss character on the game I was geeked, they had him dressed like Jimmy Bones lol. #ClassicAlways

Best intro ever. I remember my reaction the first time I loaded this game was like "this is going to be so fucking amazing." And it was. One of the best if not the best fighting game ever made.
Edit: I just beat the game a few hours ago, and my decision still stands. This is one of the beat fighting games that I have ever played in my life.
Not to mention that it was quite possibly the first fighting game that had a cinematic story with cutscenes, and a pretty damn good one too. Really went under the radar before Mortal Kombat 9 made it mainstream.

This was one of the SICKEST games every, remember played it with my cousins and sister . The game had 4 players... Could smash trough things, always tried to trow at train. Had ultimates, and uniqe attacks. The game was brutal lol. The characters was alo based of real life which made it even more fun, made more familiar when grew up, but danm this game was revolutionary, kinda underated. From Norway might be case, but this game was great. Wish they made more of it.
