Lauren everything ok with you?? I haven’t seen you on you tube as much lately. So for Mr. Jones can I use an Fmaj7 instead of the barre. I just can’t get to it and this song moves quick. I’m so mad at myself and frustrated. It’s been a year trying to barre chord transition and of late I have kinda given up. I practice a little but I’m just burnt out ready to chop my pinky off. Just kidding but it doesn’t listen!!! Blessings. - Ryan
so I have been self practicing for almost one year based on your videos and some others and here are what I almost can do so far: - mastered almost all basic chords. - sweatching easily between chords. -can do a variety of strumming pattern including muting.. -can sing along a bunch of songs.(while strumming+ fingerstyle). -mastered few bar chords and still learning. -can play some solos using hummer on, vibreto etc... for now I'm learning major scales and improving my fingers dexterity as well.. thanks a lot you're the reason for my improuvement and listening to that "d d u u d" brings me so much fun memories.
The best alternative to a F major barre chord is a 4th string rooted F/C with the C on the 5th string which is basically a perfect fifth to C but the octave lower than the root of F. Also, that F/C voicing makes a lot more sense to use considering your finger placement on the C and G chords. Barre chords are easy for me, but in the key of C and A minor, I like to use the F/C voicing. But when I play in the key of F major and D minor, I like to use the F barre chord because that voicemail makes a lot more sense to use when you have the G minor and B-flat major chords in that key.
genuinely one of the best guitar lesson I have ever had. I would like to have felt that conclusion of playing the song in it's entirety with you. That said I look forward to watching more of your video's ty

cool lesson thank you: great example of how just changing chords a little early can make such a big difference to the sound of a song.
