I find it incredible that there's almost no mention of the vast gospel collection he had (both black and white gospel quartets). I love the channel but Gospel was his main infuence (especially the Blackwood Brothers and The Statesmen Qt) The before named Quartets recorded on RCA. Elvis used his contacts at RCA to automatically send every new release by these groups to him. On one press conference Elvis specifically mentions his love for Gospel Quartet music. Other than that love your channel ;)

I wonder why also. They never mention his passion for gospel or the fact that he hired a quartet to be on call when he wanted live gospel music. That was their only job! No matter where he was at,if the mood struck he'd call them and fly them to his home(even in California) I forget the guys name in the interview I saw,but he said sometimes it'd be the middle of the night. He said it was the best job he ever had! He ended up working with Elvis as part of the male singers in his shows. Sorry I can't remember his name, but I've watched so many interviews on alot of UTube channels and quite a few are now passed. I think this guy is still alive, but probably in his late 60s or early 70s.

I think some records were demos sent by colonel parker for possible recordings. Colonel had to approve all demos before it reached elvis. Colonel only let elvis record songs that benefited them like having songwriters giving up most of their points or credits. So imagine alot of songs elvis could have recorded if it werent for colonel.

Elvis recorded "Danny" ('My name should be trouble...') for King Creole, but it was left out of the movie. That's probably why he had Gene Bua's version. Also - Elvis performed at least three Hank Williams songs - Your Cheatin' Heart in the late 50's, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry for Aloha From Hawaii, and I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love With You) on the Home Recordings collection.

He had 18 golden boots for his country music! I didn't know that until yesterday when I was rewatching Gates of Graceland videos on UTube. The curater Angie was taking you through the Hall of Gold, where all his Gold and platinum records and numerous other awards are. She was pointing out a lot of overlooked awards that people miss because they are so dazzled by the records. That's when she pointed out the golden boots and also the golden Globe award for best picture for That the way it is. Just for Elvis being Elvis! He didn't have to act he was naturally entertaining.

Angie shows a record "Danny" by Gene Bua with a few X's on it. She did not know what the X's meant . This might help. Elvis made a movie called "King Creole". It was based on a book by Harold Robins titled "A Stone for Danny Fisher". The story line was changed to fit Elvis but the name Danny Fisher was still used. He recorded the song "Danny" for the movie but it was cut out. It can be found on UA-cam. Conway Twitty recorded the song but changed the name to "Lonely Blue Boy". All three can be found on UA-cam. Check them out.

Elvis history has told us he could take most artists big songs , and improve on them by putting his own stamp , arrangement and energy on them . So i would wager he could have done so with Beatles songs , especially their early hits . Damn Elvis even made " ol Macdonald had a farm " , sound like a great pop song .

Someone may have already told this but the X marks on a record were put there by the record company so that radio stations would know which side they wanted them to promote. Sometimes a DJ would flip a record over and the B side would become a smash hit. I still have all my 45s and I still enjoy them.

The 45's that have a X marked on one side probably came from a radio station prior to Elvis owning them, it was common at that time for a DJ or an A&R man for a label to put the X on one side to indicate which side to play on the radio. I have quite a few myself, most are pretty common. I know these are unique cause they belonged to Elvis.

If Elvis got the promo's from a radio station then the X usually men't that is the side you don't play the one with out the X was the plug side usually or could be from the record label the X could indicate the same thing the X would be maybe the idea of what they wanted him to record

I have read to where marty lacker at one point told elvis that the demos that were sent to him for possible recording was inspected and approved by colonel parker. Parker only sent elvis demos that songwriters who were willing to give up writing points or credits. So elvis got mad and told his memphis mafia to get as much great sounding demos for him to record. elvis said I dont care about songwriting credits. thats where suspicious minds and other great songs came in. It was around 1969 and a little after. But colonel parker got his way again in the 70s and all demos went through him. So maybe those x marks on the records were approval by colonel parker.

(4:00) Well the Song Evil & Trouble have not much in common exept both is a blues based song, like so many! Please don`t tell such inaccurate things...thanks
"Trouble" is a blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, originally performed by Elvis Presley in 1958 and covered by a number of artists in later years.

She would have been about 5 when Elvis died. After starting her career at Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. at the age of 17 as a tour guide, Angie transitioned to the Graceland archives, a department she now heads. In addition to managing a staff of 14, who assist in maintaining and preserving the collection, she oversees the tour operations department and guest experiences at Graceland.
