If you want the completely authentic Brian May sound, you gotta also use a sixpence coin as your plectrum. Brian's pick of choice, and why he gets those metallic sounds. Awesome playing man.

Did you only do the Led Mod by removing the two leds or did you do more? I do have the same Pathfinder with Led Mod, a Naga Viper TB and a Red Special with Ferrari pickups but i don't get the typical sound...it sounds way to polished/standard instead of the more fat/dry BM sound but i have got no idea what there can be different. Exept for the volume which has to be set very low after the led mod....thanks!

+primativ VBM1 should be a replica (or a kind of) of the Deacy Amp. So, it sounds compressed, distorted and "flutey" in comparison to the Pathfinder which sounds like a small AC30.
You can use a piece of plastic or metal and stick it between the drive knob and the chassis hole, so it stays in place as you press the button. Then you press it until you hear it boost without getting compressed. LED mod without even touching a screwdriver, get!

Ciao Alessandro, la modifica del LED è piuttosto semplice. Apri il pannello posteriore dell'ampli ed individua due LED di colore rosso sullo stampato. LED mod is a good thing to do anyway. Makes the amp sounds more natural. TB is an essential part of BM tone, so save money for one. In the meantime put the gain up full and start with a flat EQ, then try making some adjustment.

+gdl30 I used Treble and Bass at zero. Gain at 3/4 and the Treble Booster first in line of course. The overall distortion was controlled by the volume pot of the guitar.

Io l'ho comprato per scherzo...se magari vuoi qualcosa di più AC30 vai sul 15W. Con quello cominciamo a parlare di amplificatore. Se comprerai un Pathfinder ti consiglio vivamente di fare la modifica dei LED...ovvero toglierli dal PCB. Otterrai un suono più lineare nei distorti, più dinamico e meno freddo. Saluti.

Open the back panel, there are two LEDs.
Remove them cutting the legs or de-soldering them.

I think this one and the one with the Union Jack finish are the same in terms of circuit and sound...so no difference a part from the look.

Well, every amp is different...I can't suggest a setup that is universal for any amp.

With the LED on the distortion sounded too “squared”…not very natural

There is some hiss...maybe it's not so evident on the video I guess...
What settings are you using?
got a BMG Red Special, Pathfinder 10 amp (without the LED Mod) and BSM TB, with Gain 3/4 treble and bass at 0 and volume quite high as well!
Well, hiss is normal...don't worry.
Also on AC30 there a constant hiss using the TB.
I suggest to do the LED mod...it will improve your sound.

Daniele Contegiacomo A quel punto credo che le differenze siano minori. Sul Line Out dovrebbero essere molto simili.
