My favorite part of UA-cam is that guy in the comments that time stamps everything for us lazy guys.
You're the real hero.
This must be what heaven looks like for Kirk Hammett
Hahahaha
Nate J thats hilarious lol
And a volume that goes to 11.
Nate J "Stairwah to Heaven"
Nate J No, for Kirk Whammet😁😁😁😂😂😂
You sure you didn't just break into kirk Hammett's house
Hey stupid! Nobody can solo in Metallica without a wah pedal. It's NOT a joke! The amps were fully pushed to the max! The tube screamer was further maxed out pushing the amp! NOBODY CAN SOLO AT THAT POINT! Nobody can here you play a solo! Your notes are NOT heard by anybody! You've got to make the notes go alittle bit louder than all the other notes. The only way to do that is to put the wah behind the amp pushing pedal. The wah MUST GET HIT BY the tube screamer. You're an idiot! Shut up!
Dreyn 77 master of Puppets, one, four horsemen, unforgiven, ain’t my bitch.
All examples of Metallica songs with Kirk solos without wah
@@dreyn7780 I'm sorry but I fail to see the point in this comment. He's making a joke about Kirk Hammett's use of wah in solos
@@utterdisaster603 no, you guys need to get over yourselves.
Your ego is stopping you from learning something.
All the songs you’ve mentioned are pre high gain amps. For example, the KH 100 or other post 2010 high gain product.
You need to update your knowledge of stuff.
You just keep telling James to turn off for a while.
@@cavespider6665 the jokes must stop cause they make the joke teller look silly.
They’re not playing an old amp that everyone is familiar with. Most people haven’t played along with the band.
If you had, you’d realise the jokes about over use of wah are extremely silly and plain wrong.

All the wah pedals at once = Kirk Hammet's tone
Máté Szekanecz Lmao
I really hated that riff he was playing by the end of the video.
Don Enchilada ikr it started to remind me of Rick rolling where it sounding good and then it goes to the wah and it gets annoying
Beni McAltair me too
You got to the end of this madness video? It's a JOKE on the customer of electric guitar! Don't you get it yet? For example, kirks wah doesn't start working until you push it with a tube screamer infront of it. Metallica had a revolutionary new sound which made them FAMOUS back in the 1980's. if kirks wah pedal wah'ed without a tube screamer pushing it, then Metallica's old sound wouldn't be any different to Aerosmith. This UA-cam vid is full of lies! You DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME watching it!
I don't know I think I hated it the first time around
It fuckin drove me insane
My mouth was doing fish impressions watching this

I dont think the CFH Dimebag wah was designed to use in clean tones.
neither kirks...
Don't be thrown off by the name and camo paint, the Crybaby from Hell is surprisingly versatile :)
I saw in other videos that Dimebag's wah is very versatile, and has more pitch than the others
The dime pedal is THE most versatile
The dimebag wah is so awesome. You are able to adjust the wah if you don’t like the sound. I looked a video on how to to do it. It totally changed to the way the wah sound.
KILLER !!!!!!
Well hi there Robert
The JC has that perfect “vocal” quality to it, and it’s never harsh. No one wonder so many folks use them.
Why do most people do a wah demo with out distortion/over drive? People getting half these pedals don't want to know how funk sounds on it, they want to know how civil war, cemetery gates and outlaw torn will sound on them.
Civil war is the best song ever
exactly what I was thinking , long videos in one style,, practically worthless,, they all sound the same, used this way it's stupid
Thor B-E Ikr. To me it might be the best song written.
Tyler Moreau I constantly find new meaning in it's excellent lyrics, every line could basically be used as a quote
Thor B-E Back in the day during my word issues class we had to pick a song to explain an issue. I instantly got 10/10 just for saying I picked that song, didn't even have to explain.
To all the people saying that a lot of them sound the same, realize that the wahs are all set to a neutral setting if they have any extra setting capabilities or features. This was meant to test the fundamental and standard wah sweep of each of the pedals, not a full demo of each. For example, the Wylde and Hammet wahs only have the one voice you hear in this, but the Dime and Slash wahs have adjustable settings to flex the sound a lot more, so it's important to look into those too before totally judging each of them.
***** Love your stuff man. Keep doing your thing!
PANICBLADE
Also, don't forget, they're all Dunlop Wah's. So, it's likely for them to sound similar. (At least at medium settings.)
PANICBLADE They should also be taking into account that there's a whole load of wahs put together and that the number of pedals in a signal chain does affect the overall tone. So in either case there would be a subtle difference in the sound if they were going to buy one and they had a small pedal board.
Dave Degenerate It depends, are they all true bypass?
Even with true bypass there's some loss in signal quality.
Wow that Slash wah changes colors!
He actually switched to a different slash Wah because the one he originally used died
+Will York Music I think since Dunlop sponsored this they said fluf should play the new one since that's what they can sell, the bright red one isn't being produced, why pay for advertising for an unavailable product ??? I thought the color change was odd too.
I really enjoy the slash wah pedal. I would have preferred the red one. Those knobs aren't included anymore
I dont think you got the right tones for the Hammett wah, it doesn't sound the same unless you rock some guyliner and a vest with out a shirt.
Hey, dumbass! The tube screamer is maxed out, the marshall is maxed out, how do you solo? You can't solo cause nobody can hear your notes over James's maxed out sound. You're suggesting James should turn down the volume so you can be heard. The wah doesn't go before the tube screamer! It must get pushed by the tubescreamer for the audience to hear the solo. All the notes get louder! Your human hen pecking days are OVER!
@@dreyn7780 why so aggressive?
@@dreyn7780 That paragraph you just wrote it worthless. It was a joke loser.

I've had the jerry cantrell signature for about a year. and I absolutely love it!!!
The Kirk Hammett one should be sold with a warning : "Attention! Prone to over-usage!"
heh
Wylde as well
I always thought they were sold in pairs, with no off switch and straps to attach you your feet.
You have no clue how to make Metallica's sound. Guitar into tube screamer into wah into the amp. Take out the wah pedal and YOU try to do a solo! Nobody can hear you play a note! If you don't use a wah pedal, your solo isn't heard by anyone! For a solo, your notes must get louder than all the other notes. You've NEVER DRIVEN METALLICA'S SOUND. You're not going to reinvent Metallica's sound! You're crazy! Shut up idiot!
I really like the Darrell for versatility and knobs and the model of the bot wahmmet one is very cool, I like the design and the color.
The CAE has two inductors - only the red one was demoed. The yellow one is very different but we didn't hear it. The red one is not a standard or default and this makes the CAE an attractive proposition.
The red has less sweep an is great for modern higher gain settings. The yellow is a more vintage classic voicing and particularly suitable for clean sounds as well as classic rock.
slash sw95 transforming into a slash sc95?

What is best sc95 or sw95?
+Ryan “Fluff” Bruce What is best sc95 or sw95?
+Gabo 64130 sw is amazing
what are the differances?
My favorites were the Custom Audio and the Buddy Guy. Both had smoother highs and not so ice picky.
CAE is the best for me.
dime's one for sheer versatility - gain and sweep controls.
everybody was suggesting the dime should i buy what do you think
The 535Q also has a lot of versatility. It doesn't have a gain control, but it does have a boost button. It also has a sweep control and 5 voicings.
@@umutonuralppolat9352I’ve had the dime wah for 15 years and never liked it. Replaced it with a Zakk wylde wah and love it
I've been really happy with my Buddy Guy Wah. It sounds great with a Fuzz running into it.
Guy at 0:55 “I’m using my signature pickup”
Me : “ who the hell are you”
Ikr
Pretty sure the guy that works at my local Kwik Shop also has a signature pickup 🤣
I definitely like the Custom Electronics one the most.
I liked the EVH the most, adds alot of grit to the sound, and it looks killer too!
No hendrix wah?
Basically Buddy Guys wah with less range.
And no petrucci
This shootout is long overdue! Thanks Dunlop for figuring out who would get it done and having him do it.
I must say, I really prefer the first one--yes, the standard no signature one. I know, I was surprised too.
Ben Moore Me too. I also liked the Custom Audio Electronics one, it seemed to have more definition than the others (through my speakers, on this connection etc etc.)
Agree. The Zak Wylde OK.
A lot sounded fairly similar to me (some exceptions). I like the smoother, cleaner sweep on the CAE & Bonamassa. The EVH sounded a bit harsh to me
The CAE and the Bonamassa are my favourites to be fair. Well balanced sweeps and the most musical of the bunch.
Bonamassa all the way. fat tone across the whole range of the wah, and it seems like the wah goes farther and the volume doesn't diminish toward the heel end. also the treble isn't abrasive at the toe end... even at a neutral setting it's the clear standout to me
thanks for taking the time to do all these with basically the same phrase so many of these demos the guy is just playing all over the place and you can't really tell one wah from another because he plays a different phrase on each one. Thanks for being consistent this was very helpful in helping me choose which one I would like to try... Great demo
All around weird tone. I liked the Joe Bonamassa and the Buddy Guy wahs.
They sound all nearly identical same ! Nothing worth to spent any money to it. Except the CAE wah. That is worth it's money.
The Jerry Cantrell and CAE Audio Electronics wahs were my favorite.
I think the EVH wah is the best, wah pedals have a tendancy to be tone suckers, but the EVH wah really held true to the LP tone and had a fantastic midrange. Of course UA-cam compression probably boiled the subtle differences between the pedals anyway.
Does anyone else think its kind of absurd how many "signature" wah's there are lol 😁 How many different can they really make them.
Ikrr hahaha
Very different, they aren’t just the standard crybaby wah they are basically a new model and they are a lot better than standard crybaby hence the price increase. They’re also made to sound like the wah tone of the guitarist because they’ll most likely be using a rack so they can make it sound how they like so its basically the artists rack settings crammed into it
The Custom Audio sounds the best to my ears.
I liked the Kirk wah with the clean Mark 4 and the strat , & Jerry Cantrell wah with the les paul and the gritty Mark IV
Randy Rhoads approves of the Buddy Guy wah..
As he showed the picture of the slash one i was like "wait thats the wrong one" then it flipped back and i was freaking out when it had transformed itself into the right one. well played...
All sound great, but the Cantrell wah is the one for me. Thanks for the video!
Bonamassa Wah is definitely my top pick.
Same here
Me too! Hated the hammet wah
***** SAME HERE!
Definetly most pleasent one
Me too but I really like the Slash one and the jerry cantrell one too. Can someone maybe tell whats best for low range and dark midrange, also NOT so much high freqs. I want to use it for blues rock and stuff.
Thanks.
(Or when you think another wah would be worth testing, please tell me🤘💪)
Great vid, i liked the Bonamassa, Kirk Hammet & Slash Wah's, they all seemed sharper & higher in the Q like my modded one but that Van Halen one is a monster. :)
The CFH is amazing, I got one for christmas. If you still have it can you do a full review on it just so i can hear some different tones? Thanks Fluff!! Love, Supershammy!
Like the CAE in this demo. Own the dime one though. Awesome wah!
Great vid man. Thanks for making it. I'm torn between the slash signature and the Bonamassa
Cool vid Ryan. I'd go CAE, KH, ZW, CFH, JC/JB then all others equal. This is a great video because all of my gear is purchased online or when I travel since there is no music/guitar store in my town. I like these live demos and I always watch before I purchase. Thanks again dude.
My favorite out of all of these are the EVH, my least favorite is unfortunately the Cantrell
Well, i have at least 5 of these. Kirk hammett wah, jerry cantrell wah, the white bass wah, slash sc952 wah, 535q wah and the gcb95…i must say the jerry cantrell wah hands down weeps and cries like a baby. Its my go to for pure dark wah madness!!
I prefer Morley wah and volume pedals to be honest, they are big and take up a lot of room on my pedal board but for me that's totally worth it. I tried vox and Dunlop both and feel there is something missing or idk, hard to explain what it is but Morley satisfies that itch in my waaaaaaah...
Surprisingly, I really dug the CAE. I can only describe the tone as more 'digital' and a little more rounded than the others, which made it stand out for me in an interesting way. Also, did the Kirk Hammet one add some gain? I got the impression that it made the tone grittier, which I didn't really like very much, especially with the clean settings in part one.
Cool demo. I have the 1993 Original & Wylde. Original totally throaty and the Wylde a distinct mid spot. On your demo, I liked how voice-like the Bonamasa was. EVH sounded trebly and the Buddy one was similar to the Original. Cantrell was dark & midrange like. Hard to choose just one. Dime sounds pretty wide as does the Kirk. Slash very distinct in voice and the fossil sounded rich. Dig them all for their unique characteristics but the Original & Bona were awesome. Great job & your signature pickups sounded well balanced so congrats on that.
Cantrell, CAE and Buddy Guy sound best to me!
Personally, I loved the Van Halen Wah
Fluff you needed a plank of wood, so you could rest it on top of the wah train of doom and wah them all in unison :)
Got the Dunlop KH cry baby & Morley VAI bad horsie 2, used heavily at gigs and studio!
Cool video Fluff. Hard to pick my favorite, so many flavours...
The CAE and Cantrell wahs sound awesome, and the CFH isn't too bad either. Would like/10.
Hey! You switched a Wah Pedal out during the test! When you went to do the CAE Wah there was a red one next to it with knobs on it but then when you went to do the next one it was a different wah that doesn't look red and has no knobs???
Haha How the HELL did the new Slash pedal appear out of the blue instead of the old one :P I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT! You had them both there, why did you swap mid video?
the Buddy Guy and Joe Bonamassa were the best to my ears. the Jerry Cantrell was also excellent.
this is how your spose to do demos. great vid dude
You sneaky buggers! you swapped out the versions of the Slash wah between takes. lol
Aww that sucks. As far as I knew though, there was no difference between the two except for the distortion circuit on the first one. I was just trying to be funny! And I also learned something just now. Didn't realize that it was an 18v.
if it was dead out of the box, why didn't you change the battery
Thanks for asking this. I have the 18V version and I noticed the same thing in the video where it was swapped with the other Slash model. Not sure if I want to buy the other version or just keep what I have. Also, the Buddy guy version seems to sound better in this video, than the one I own.
How can anyone say that they all sound the same haha! It's beyond me, another great video, happy subscriber your work is brilliant!
Awesome strat mate! how did you make it?
On all the youtube vids I've seen. Rig Rundowns etc etc I don't see anymore running the Dime Wah pedal?? I see tons of metal artist using the Zakk Wylde one though.
Toss up beween Joe's wah and the Cantrell Wah for me. Thanks for this, helps with a future purchase decision!
never thought id be saying this but that joe bonamassa wah was insane. it had the sound i was looking for. video is still good 4 years later.
Whyd he switch the slash wah from the red version to the black version?
Great Wah shootout
Nice video!
Also: 4:55 it's clearly a bright red slash wah with 2 knobs on the side. 5:05 no knob, distressed red pedal. What happened?
Did the slash wah get switched out halfway through the vid right before Fluff tested it? The original one was more red and had 2 chrome knobs...
For the life of me, i couldn't tell the difference between them all. A wah's a wah's a wah.
EVH was cool but the buddy guy wah had a really nice smooth sweep.
Bonamassa is the best sounding to me. It retains tone and provides the actual wah effect across the board. A close second is the CAE wah, but if I had the choice I'd go Bonamassa all day. Speaking of, I'll prolly just go buy it.
What happened to slash Wah?
It was replaced during the video.
At 4:57 it was a different one than 5:05
they all sound better on the Gibson, some of them are painful to listen which would be Kirk, slash, and EVH. the others are decent but I still love the Cantrell pedal. that's why I bought it. but everyone is different and likes different sounds, which is great, that's why I love music.
How come the Slash signature wah went from being bright red in the beginning of the video, and later in changed to a worn-red look?
Looking fancy, Mr. Fluff.
there was something on that bonamassa wah that really caught my attention
HEY FLUFF YOU LOOK CLEAN ON THIS ONE
The amount of BWAWW-WAH CHAKAKA-BWAWA CHAKA, that I had in the past 12 minutes is extremely high.
Why did you changed the Slash Wah? Before that wah, was the red one, then, you changed to the other wah...
Hey Fluff, I saw in a rig rundown with Brent Hinds and he has been using the 105Q bass wah, and I know that he is typically downtuned. I play mostly in standard and am wondering if a bass wah would work well with guitar in a standard tuning scenario. Dont know if you have any experience with the bass wah but perhaps you have some insight to share. The features of the 105Q are pretty cool and unique and I think it may be very beneficial to a blues style that comps rhythm while playing leads.
Love the Dimebag wah specially when the fuzz kick in
I like the Dimebag CFH cause you can get some more drive and some extreme highs as well as some real bluesy sounds. Which is what Dimebag really did so it fits. I'd either go with EVH or Kirk Hammett. Just my metal/high gain preference.
Thank you for your upload great video. Just I'm thinking about what Wah pedal should I get. Your video gave me great information .
Thanks Ryan I really needed a comparison for the CGB95 and the Cantrell sig cuz I needed to know if the $150 difference was worth it
I own the zakk wylde wah and i've tried almost all of them, i went with the wylde wah because it has a beefier sound than the others, jerry cantrell's wah is close second
This just reminds me of the dude in the guitar store who only plays one song the whole time he’s there
I feel attacked
I like the Hammett and the slash best, Cantrell 3rd
I'm diggin the CAE wah...
great vid! Fulltone baby!
I just bought the Jerry Cantrell wah
WOW! I love your guitar!! how did you made it like that?
I think it is a Tom Morello signature.
Thank you soo much. this was one video i was waiting for. amazing job fluff MAD RESPECT
Im curious . Is there Any difference from the candy red Slash wah you had set up at the beggining of the video and the worn off Slash wah you swapped it for?
