Where can you get it?
You can download from the SketchUcation extension store, or by clicking the link in the notes below.
Tool Functions
This extension literally simulates Physics within SketchUp. There are a lot of functions contained within this tool, including the ability to simulate gravity, friction, joints, and more!
There are a lot of features in this extension, but I’m going to try to provide a high level overview of what the extension can do, and if there’s a desire for a follow up video about specific features, I can do that.
When you install this extension, you’re going to get three menus. The first is for running your physics simulation. You can access the physics UI, as well as playing and rewinding your simulations.
The second menu contains all the tools for containing mechanical joints, and the third allows you to record and export your videos.
In this tool, you can assign many different kinds of physics properties to objects, including density, friction, magnetism, shapes, and more. In addition, you can also adjust things in the world itself, like gravity.
By setting these properties for each object, you can simulate things in your models like collisions.
One tip to get started is to set your objects that you don’t want to move, like planes or ramps, as static meshes.
In addition, you can also interact with the physics objects with your mouse for real-time interactions.
This tool also contains a complete set of objects for creating mechanical connections. By using these connections, it’s actually possible to simulate an entire car. These connections can be operated using a slider, keyboard, joystick, or scripts.
In addition, MS Physics comes with a recorder that will allow you to export animations to Indigo Render, Kerkythea, or a sequence of images that can be stitched into videos.
Overall, this extension has a HUGE amount of possibilities - it allows custom scripting, as well as keyboard control of objects. That being said, it also has a steep learning curve.
At a minimum, I’d recommend download it and giving it a try - it’s a ton of fun generating a brick wall and rolling an object into it! 😊 - Наука та технологія
Definitely interested in more of MS physics ,,. Looking forward,,
Very Nice extension Justin! Never tried it. I will give it a spin. Thanks for the tip!
Lol - I have a feeling you could have some fun with it Willem! :)
Me too! More on the MSPhysics plug in!
I love this extension
It's a lot of fun :)
This is unbelievable. So cool
Lol - it's a lot of fun :)
I love YOU because I learn a lots from YOU.
Great video. Is there a way that we can simulate the sound waves as well? Like hitting the inside wall of the speaker all the way out and the levels of sound compression inside the speaker chamber. Thanks a lot.
That’s really nice extension
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Teacher for Your Tutorial MS Physics . I hope you to made more MS physics video!
Thanks very much!
Awesome!! Thanks
How about fluid dynamics?
A Venturi with air flow....
WOW! Seems so damn fun! I must try this
Cool. Wish I had the mental space to play with this right now. This is the whole reason I learned PovRay back in the day.
Lol - I'm actually the same way - it seems fun, but I'm not sure that it really fits in with anything I'm doing with SketchUp, so it's hard to make time to play with it. Thanks for watching!
I want more MSPhysics tutorials!
Lol - will keep it on the list :)
I would like to see a follow up on the mechanical and engineering side of things. Great job!
Thanks Tony - I appreciate it!
this is so cool
Are you able to programmatically animate machines, say make motor continuously spin?
Please make more tutorial on ms physics. Especially on the script option.
Hello! great video, iI tried to install it in ketchup pro 2021 but it doesn't work. is it not compatible with the 2021 version?
please tell me how to set up a camera that follows the car like at the beginning of this video, or please share the video link.
Hi Justin, I haven't been able to make it work on 2019 PRO, there is a huge community using 2019, by any chance, do you know how we can make it work? or if we don't have any chance, do you know about any other similar plugin that can work on 2019? Any help will be greatly appraciated. Thanks!
I connected hinge join and joint connection tool to one of the rectangular object i created, but it couldn't rotate. i connected hinge joint to the end that happened but than couldnt selected object with joint connection tool
I'll soon be assigning attributes to entities (energy efficient house design) like density, so the energy absorption property can be quantified in entities used as Thermal Mass.
Interesting...Let me know how it goes!
hy an alternativ for this plugin for su 2020? THANK4S FOR ALL YOUR WORK VERY NICE
£
This is so cool
Lots of fun!
Any alternative for SketchUp 2018 and above, please?
hello sir,
i have downloaded this extension from sketchup ware house.
that is rbz file.
but i dont how to install it.
or how to run in sketchup. please make a video on this.
very well!!! Does it work in Sketchup 2019....???? Thanks a lot
PHYSICS SIMULATOR doesn't appear with enscape render
how to solve this problem?
thanks
I don't think Enscape is compatible with the animations produced by MSPhysics...
hi , please tell me how to plugin msphysics with sketch
Very interesting... in the clip with the terrain I could see using this as a tool to test runoff conditions on a site ... does the extension have any tools to help create rain so that you can verify if there are any problems with runoff on a terrain
Not that I'm aware of - probably your best best would be doing something like the terrain clip to see where things roll (maybe with a series of smaller spheres?). That being said, there are a lot of features in the program I haven't explored yet, so look around :)
sir can you ? simulate Air blowing on sketch up? cuuz im planning to make a wind turbine , and i wanna make a simulation on it.
Great !!! Video
Thank you!
So in the last part of your video, you dropped a box on the seesaw. Just wondering if sketchup assumes a particular weight per volume? and if you can change that?
Also, will this extension drain the fuck out of my computer?
Cheers man. Keep up the quality content
I don't remember - I believe you can adjust some gravity settings in there - I think there were some mass settings to adjust as well. As to your computer performance...that's really going to depend on what kind of computer you have 👍
CAN TRAFFIC SIMULATION BE DONE ON THIS PLUGIN OR NOT IF NOT THEN IS THEIR ANY PLUGIN AVAILABLE TO SIMULATE THE TRAFFIC PLEASE MENTION ?
How do you find the Center of mass of multiple groups. Or set individual mass of groups within a group?
I don't know the answer to this one
Is there a plugin for pivots. Like having a door pivot around a joint but without needing to press play to simulate. Perhaps you can pivot the door with the move operation.
Probably dynamic components would be your best bet - I haven't made a video on these yet, but this video, while a bit older, should be helpful - ua-cam.com/video/O8bQqyy-48M/v-deo.html - Thanks!
Excellent! That was exactly what i was looking for.
Hi, have a question. To check if a tabletop (50x50cm) will lie still on the three narrow legs ,how should I set MSPhysics? Thank you.
Lie still? Aren't you connecting it to the wood table somehow?
@@Thesketchupessentials Yes, I do, but I'd like to make sure that current position of legs is good enough to hold the tabletop.
does this work on Sketchup 2020-2021?
Can you render these animations to vray
I am new to sketchup and my first project is a flat room garage, 19x25 ft. I want to simulate 2 ft of snow on the roof and a 100mph wind to see how they will affect the structure. Will msphysics do the trick? How do I do that? The structure will be non-somewhat standard so I need to prove it will handle these loads.
Btw, I am using Sketchup Make 2017 for windows.
thanks a lot .. but why there is no install option in order to install msphysics and amslibrary in prefrences ?? could u help me
I don't understand the question. You don't install extensions from the preferences - you install extensions from the extension warehouse, or manually using the extension manager under "Window," "Extension Manager." In this case I installed it directly from within the SketchUcation extension store.
Thank you sir for tutorials !
But can you tell me how to fix the problem with sketchup 2019 version, I follow installation procedure of MSPhysics but smothing went wrong, plugin not installed
No clue - maybe post in the SketchUcation forums
Thanks a lot Justin! Do you how is possible to get render videos with this plugin? In past i try it with sketchyphisics and twilight render... Do you know if it is possible? Thanks.
Sorry. I have just read the text below the video....
Perfect - glad you found it!
That this is free is amazing. What's equally amazing is that Fusion 360 still lacks physics, and that no Autodesk product allows easy simulation of rope and pulley- and as one of the 6 simple machines, that is big shortcoming.
i remember years ago using a similar extension called sketchy physics, very interesting subject but i quickly lost interest cause I didn't find an architectural application for it, maybe you can find something along those lines? :) although the terrain with the spheres look very promising for water runoff analysis.
Sketchy Physics was a similar extension, but one of SketchUp's updates broke it. This extension is written on a new calculation engine, and it has some better keyboard integration tools as well. I don't really have an architectural application for it either, though I'm sure some people will find one. Thanks!
You... You can make spheres in Sketchy... I am absolutely intrigued
And more! ua-cam.com/video/FpguZY4OGLU/v-deo.html
Please help me :
I downloaded the extensions msphysics and ams 3.5 via extension warehouse using Sketchup Make 2017 but unable to see the toolbars for msphysics. I looked at the toolbar settings , nothing on msphysics found
Did you install and enable them?
@@Thesketchupessentials yes, it was installed after i clicked download. I checked the extensions and it shows its "Enabled" and Signed.
Does it mean that although i am using a Free version, i should still be allowed to use this extension? If so, that will be great news.
TOO GOOD
Thanks! :)
getting the following message when I load up sketchup after installing MsPhysics. Any Ideas? Tried reinstalling and re-openning Sketchup. I did update to 2019 and recall it working in 2018. may that be the issue?
Error Loading File C:/Users/Tom/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2019/SketchUp/Plugins/MSPhysics/main_entry.rb
I can't remember - does MS Physics require any kind of library to be installed along with the extension? It would say on the extension download page...
can i use MSPhysics and interact Dynamic component at the same time ?
No idea - I assume probably not. Why would you want to?
Is the MSPhysics plugin compatible with SketchUp2019?
I don't know - did you try it?
@@ThesketchupessentialsI'm trying to make it work on Sketchup Pro 19. But without any luck...
@@Thesketchupessentials Eu acredito não funcionar. Infelizmente. Estou tentando o dia inteiro, e não deu certo até agora. Seria legal um tutorial de algum plugin que tivesse a mesma função, e que funcionasse no Sketchup 2019, ajudaria muito!!!
Sir, how can you put up and down motion? Just like it's pumping.
No idea - I think there's some kind of a piston function included that might be able to do that, but I haven't really gotten in-depth with MS Physics - maybe try here - ua-cam.com/play/PLUIFQTbizmaH1HkiRzde6Nwmrs9bAv6lD.html
@@Thesketchupessentials thanks alot Sir. Big help
Hi, my sketchup 2019pro refuses to load the ms physics plugin please help me fix it😫 thanks
Refuses in what way?
@@Thesketchupessentials i guess it can not find the way to extension in c\users\app data\ etc.
interesting!
Glad you think so!
Cool...can we do simulation of flow of water..
Not in SketchUp
I also want more msphysics tutorials
Maybe at some point - thanks!
Msphysics doesn't work in SketchUp Pro 2019, is there any way to fix that?😕
No idea - I haven't tried to run it on 2019
Can we use this along with Enscape and screen record 🤔
Not with Enscape
can i import this animation into 3dmax for rendering ???
No idea as I don't use Max, but I doubt it
Can I use msphysics on web-based SketchUp?
No extensions on web-based
I've already download it but I couldn't add it to Sketchup . So , can you help me ?
What do you mean you couldn't add it to SketchUp - did you install it using the extension manager?
No,by the link
It's ok I fixed the problem,Thank you ❤️
are there any pluglin or program compatible with sktechup 2019?
Lots
@@Thesketchupessentials tell me any of them please, because msphysics is not compatible
@@Thesketchupessentials I’m wating your answer please
Can we export this animations in lumion??
No - Lumion's animation engine is completely separate from animations you can create in SketchUp
@@Thesketchupessentials is there any way we can change SketchUp animation into fbx and then import into lumion?
Steep learning curve? It's suuuper easy and intuitive, comparing to some other soft ;)
Could it simulate skiing?
I'm interested in making a simulator for a research work
Do we can use MSphisics in Sketckup 2023?
No
It work with the version2019?
Not sure
no
I want to play Jenga in SketchUp! :D
:)
muito show
I've just discovered this tool and you are telling me it can do flying birds? So cool!
It can do a LOT of stuff!
@@Thesketchupessentials Thanks, now I have a lot of things to try with this
@@Thesketchupessentials Hi, so it looks like you know a lot of things about Sketchup. I have a problem with the program and I really don't know why it's happening. Basically, Sketchup freezes with a lot of things. When I save, it frezes for 20 seconds until it saves. When I do anything with MSPhysics, it freezes like 1 or 2 minutes. And when I show the hidden geometey it frezes a lot to. I'm doing a simple factory, (the interior and exterior of it), and if freezes even with a truck. I have a good pc (and Sketchup 18). I've seen other people doing more complex models even without a lag. Do you how can I solve it please?
Pls make detail tutorial.
You mean a detailed tutorial about MS Physics?
2019-20-21 ?
It's very nice. I hope the author will develop this extension to become a structural engineering tool to analyze seismic and wind load.
Hmmm...interesting idea. Somehow I doubt that it's going in that direction, but that would be an interesting application. Thanks!
Is it free?
I mean - the video literally gives you this information less than a minute in...
Is SketchUp free?
It's not work in 2020
I haven't tested it on 2020
@@Thesketchupessentials, me as well. Might you be able to demonstrate the installation of MSPhysics and the AMS Library for Sketchup Pro 2020? That would be really helpful for a college student like myself! I really enjoy watching your videos! They've really helped me grow in such a short amount of time.
