i prefer volatile gelatin over some other bad expert items. also, would be cool to maybe see a video covering the underrated STINGER NECKLACE, which gives you armor penetration and free honey buff
Huge knockback would make some sense since the projectile is made of bouncy slime while also making it actually good at keeping things away from you without doing huge damage.
My one suggestion would be to make it pierce 2x/3x/4x the amount of enemies, and then multiply its knockback. Really lean into the 'bouncy slime' nature of it and make it good at keeping enemies away from you, rather than being high DPS. It could essentially be an AFK version of the 'Slap Stick' weapon that sends enemies flying; so you can focus on mining/building/fishing.
If u could merge it with similar accessories like the spore sac, honeycomb, bone helm, bone hand to make something called a chaos orb or something, that would be p cool
i think an ideal buff would be just making it a hardmode version of the bone glove, maybe with splash damage instead of piercing. increasing the speed of the projectile is also needed
I think it needs infinite pierce, as there is absolutely no other option for destroyer. None at all. It’s not like there’s the meteor staff or Daedalus stormbow. Nope. Never heard of those.
The VG can be a summoner support accessory, making any slime a royal slime that can fight for you, but randomly selected, can combine with the royal gel to make it more effective since slimes won't attack you
Its actually insane when paired with chlorophyte arrows against golem since it bounces and can do around 150 if it connects twice. And shoots out per second so thats around a +150 dps which is MASSIVE for a single accessory
@@duckyduckington9736 Or equip something that gives you more defense/attack. Most weapons have good crowd control in hardmode and there are loads of accessories that either give your weapons more damage than what it provides or are infinitely more useful.
It's funny because that build with the idle damage accessories is usable for the purpose suggested, camping out in one spot for farming and fishing (or treating a blood moon like a light drizzle while you're in the middle of a build). It's just that even in this context, the volatile gelatin (which I keep wrongly calling the royal jelly before wrongly associating it with the bee queen thanks to Spelunky) is by far the least effective element in the whole setup. Then again, I guess there is a case for the Royal Gel given how I keep forgetting _both of these_ accessories exist.
What they should do is make this and the other items with similar functions just passive items. You only benefit from having one in your inventory, but it stays active as long as you have it. Because, let's be honest, for as good as things like the Spore Sac and Bone Helm are in a vacuum, I've never had a playthrough where I could justify using them over any other accessory in the game.
I guess indeed it is only useful for fishing/building setups, there isnt much you can add to accessories for those two since so many items can be crafted into combined versions of them and as far I know, only fishing backpacks fishing power bonus then actually stacks, I guess they are good alternative to minion slot accessories, especially if minions fail to attack anything in time so often, so throwing this (with warding modifier of course) and other passive damage accessories to fishing build is best use for those, bone helmet can be at least decently used during progression if taking deerclops early on so yes, this one is actually worse
I like that you gave the item it's due diligence and still couldn't find decent power with it. Generally, I have a spore sac on with summoner's equipment and that makes a fine passive defense for fishing. I imagine this would be your first "spore sac" as a passive damage that isn't a summon or sentry. You could also combine it with Chlorophyte armor to create a death zone. But honestly, the extra accessory slot belongs to Pygmy Skull or Necromantic Scroll.
It’s pretty good for a builder loadout especially when some summons aren’t accurate. I use mining armor for that loadout so I don’t have the benefit of chlorophyte or better summoning gear :P ( although spore sac is 100% better, they really need to buff some expert items as I feel like they’re supposed to be viable for a long time)
I just have it for events, since it's mostly used to have something extra that hits the enemies in caves. But yeah, I would love if either shoot faster or the slime balls pierced more through enemies. Also please do a video on the Stinger Necklace, that accessory is GOATed on my book.
If you were to combo it with the spore sac among other types of items like this it might be good for afk key farming or like you demonstrated a fishing setup to keep enemies away.
In my opinion, it would be an actual good option is it homes and can spawn 4 at a time. (NOTE: they actually bounce and not home, making it a horrible choice when there is sheild of cthulu and the worm scarf.
Even tho i think it a bad accessory i don't think it the worst accessory for me i think that the royal gel is absolutely useless unless it was used for the one boss that you already killed (the qween slime doesn't drop anything intresting other than the pet) and the mech bosses are also useless in my opinion because no one uses mine carts for traveling because of pylons and the only thing that it good at is cheesing bosses which in my opinion count as cheating ( or a cheap way to fight a boss and i don't disrespect anyone how does it )
i could only think of using it in a ranger run, as even when going for max damage (without a bow, there's like 3 different quivers for those) there's usually a free accessory slot in mastermode, yet I would rather use the brain of confusion or the worm scarf before i replace it with the spore sac after plantera

To be fair, the queen slime is pre mech, so it’s use is relatively the same as king slime drops in progression. Needless to say that it was never intended to go up against post planterra progression, but would probably be an alternative to the star cloak and honeycomb. It would eventually be replaced by the spore sac in terms of use. I still doubt I’d ever use this against the mechs though, and wouldn’t sacrifice an accessory slot for it. The only vague use I can think of is in combination with similar accessories or in very early hard mode as a support weapon.
I used a combo on the Get Fixed Boi seed, wich was more pasive attacks for more crowd control. I think it was Clorophite Armor, Spore Sack, That thing on the video, Brain of confusión and the important ones plus a summon. It was some what usefull to me on that seed.
If you're a summoner and want a better whip than the firecracker for this fight, You can make the cool whip. The cool whip inflicts frost burn and summons a snowflake to fight for you while you attack. The only downside is that you need to destroy an ice golem to craft it.
It needs a complete new ability because it's just an bad version of the plantera drop or it gets combined with the one of plantera to make an accessory that makes every fifth plantera spread explode to an gel ball and Target enemies
IF it gets a Buff More knockback and infinite pierce that would allow for what seems to be the intended use (creating a sort of bubble around the player against fodder enemies)
I find it useful when trying to carve out big areas underground, when combined with bone helm, a whield that grants knockback immunity, hand of creation, star veil, wings, an infinite flight mount, full mining armor and warding prefix on as many accessories as you can get it for, adding bone glove and spore sack can help alot, alternatively, you can add more defensive accessories, so that you can better afford to ignore enemies while building/mining
Buff idea i have is Whenever you hit the ground you create a random amount of those projectiles going to random directions, the higher you fall the more you create
Its actually pretty decent on summoner during the beginning of hardmode when you don't have much to fill your accessory slots. Fishing with it and summons makes the perfect middle ground as well where you likely wont get touched
a very simple ideia is to be able to combine all these passive damage accessories in one, kinda like how the Ankh is combining several different protection accessories. That would make them at least ok.
I actually use this accessory for the old ones army( or any event really) when playing summoner as the piercing can help a little bit. I did see a comment where they recommend a accessory where you combine with the royal gel to get something new. Maybe spawn in a slime and flying slime to attack enemies
My tip would be make it home in on the last entity you've hit or make it prioritize bosses, make it more accurate by predicting where to shoot to hit the enemy and either double the slime ball amount or make it shoot 2 - 3X faster. alternatively make it shoot through walls with infinite / increased piercing and make it compatible with potions. or another is to make it ignore enemy knock back resistance (apart from bosses) and increase the knockback to compensate for the low damage by keeping the enemy at bay.
I sometimes like to play the thorns class, were you use items and accessories that deal damage when you take damage like that item, queen bee, turtle armor and stuff it's so fun going through the dungeon just spitting random bs
Never seen that one before. I think it could be useful alongside a summon build just for overall traversal when you don't want to engage the enemies by yourself. Summons already do a great job with that, but there are times when they get too far away from you. Seeing that this attacks passively from your position could be a last line of defense.
I want it to act like a summoner accessory that is just an upgrade to the royal gel.Make it to where it makes slimes attack other enemies if they are on screen.Just hard mode royal gel that’s 10 times better then what we have now.
I'd have it give 2 summon slots and summon its own unique summon when equipped. So you would get a queen slime summon and one slot for other summon, the queen summon would do the ball attack and contact damage.
The only time I have ever used this accessory is for AFK farming. If anything enters my AFK box, it would do at least something to it. But my summons do most damage to keep me alive as I AFK (mimics somehow get me and it really helps).
I would personally allow it to fire at each unique enemy within range with its own separate cooldown, so you can have 10 balls in play if there are 10 enemies close to you. This is balanced out by each ball still having its own cooldown so you can only shoot at a given enemy every 2 seconds still, the balls can miss, they're awful against flying targets, this buff does little to help against most bosses (which you shouldnt equip this for anyways), and most importantly, the range is rather short, so the risks present in allowing multiple enemies to get that close is massive. What it does do is allow it to aid in fights like skeletron prime (dealing extra damage due to his arms) or second phase plantera, but most of all it makes it a crowd-clearing powerhouse, fitting for a drop from a boss whose primary attack is summoning adds.
Giving it similar functionality to the bone glove might be interesting. It also might work as an aoe item of sorts like clorophyte armor set bonus in calamity
I feel like it should be able to combine this with the bone gloves since they practically do the same thing, it could've been a good Range class item if it weren't for the fact the projectile itself doesn't go that far
Even when I went back to give it a second chance, I couldn't find any practical use for the poor gelatin. I hope it gets changed in a future update, because it is certainly not worth a whole accessory slot
used this accessory on my no weapons run challenge it was fun, but I do wish it fires 2-3 balls instead of one, it can't really push back multiple enemies coming from different places
I wish the expert mode drops could be combined. Combine this and the royal gel into a new accessory, or the bone helm and bone glove. You never use most of them since you don’t have the space
I use it on my mining loadout while im tearing through the earth at breakneck speeds, having projectiles shoot out of me gives me a little extra time to react to bigger threats, and can outright kill pre hardmode enemies allowing you to continue mining. Of course plantera's drop is better for it but volatile gelatin is great for pre mech when you need to make corruption trenches. Having a combat, fishing, and mining loadout using the new F1,F2,F3 swapping is very useful as well.
Instead of the balls, I would prefer that the gelatin periodically gives you the smash ability of the queen slime which also has pretty great knockback and damage. It would make a better crowd control accessory esp paired with the aforementioned bone glove or bone helm.
I think it could release a bunch of the orbs in a circle (much like the queens attack itself) on either damage taken, periodically, or when attacking with a weapon (like bone glove). This gives it a niche of keeping away/dealing extra damage to enemies
If it could combine or somehow otherwise mesh with those other passive damage accessories you mentioned, there could be something cool to be done with this. Otherwise to make it more viable in and of itself, some sort of buffs to damage, projectile speed, projectile quantities needs to happen.
I like the passive/assisting damage accessories a lot... maby a bit too much, since i don't see many people bringing the bone helm up to the mechanicals too often (^-^'). Nevertheless, if even i don't go out of my way to use the volatile gelatin, then there's definitely something wrong with it.
It should have stronger knockback (among the stornger if possible even if deals less damage) or add a new gimmick (like thorns but with very few damage but strong knockback). Yes, I would like it to be a knockback dealer.
I mean, i can come up with a use for it: Stack it with bone helm (and spore sac later on) for a decent auto-defense while fishing if you're not using any summons.
"For you mages : Use the meteor staff" my strange ass using Nimbus Staff, Corrupt Flame Staff, 4 minions, the forbidden gear and Orange Zapper to kill it with rapid hits due to over preparing in hardmode
I think it should be like a Slimy shield or just a downgraded version of the Beatle armor ability to reduce damage but takes some time to get that armor back so basically just have the jelly attack become a defensive item instead
Seeing all the sugestions made me wander: why not a Zenith acessory? Periodicallly, you release Spore gelatins that when in contact with a enemy, release a bee that attack with a claw made of bones that invert your gravity for as long as the next trigger. If you are upside down, you have Dodge chance, otherwise you get damage reduction.
i think the 'worst accessory' title should be held for the shiny stone, expert mode drop from golem. reworks could make it absolutely op, maybe not for its point in progression but i have it in my inventory only to heal (takes like 20-30 seconds as long as i dont do anything)
Random thing I think you should be able to combine expert drops to make a slightly weak version like how when you make the lightning boots you lose 7% of the speed bonus but save two slots. It could be craft able in any way so you can combine shield of cthulhu and worm scarf but you can't combine hard mode things with prehard mode unless you are makeing the final version
well, the easiest fix in my book is simply to add more projectiles. at base, a minimum of 1 that fires at the nearest enemy and 1 that fires in the exact opposite direction. That minimum is mostly considering if it has the potential to scale, adding more orbs each time it "ranks up". Early hard mode 2 decent projectiles is good enough for grounded passive damage, but the assumption of scaling is much harder to theorize? each unique boss killed? every time queen slime is slain (until it hits a cap)? "feeding" it a resource like gelatin crystals, crystal shards, or souls of light? Without the potential to scale, i say give it infinite pierce and 4 projectiles fired in a cross pattern. The cross gives some minor passive protection through dps and changes the bounce angle for each orb creating a larger damage zone, whilst the infinite pierce allows it to function as a crowd control option, great especially for classes and builds that struggle with it. The final option i can think of to fix it without other mechanics is to make it spawn an extra projectile every time one hits an enemy, but i can also see that snowballing a bit too easily. Maybe only the orbs spawned on the timer have this effect, and not those spawned by the effect itself. Of course, there are more potential options if the tinkerer's workshop and shimmer are added into the mix. fusing the 2 royal slime expert drops has so many options. The basic combining of effects is one option, but there are more appealing ones. -Slimes are friendly and incapable of damaging you (boss variants excluded) and will actively target other enemies (instead of just ignoring both sides), whilst the player summons a random (non-boss) slime every few seconds (that does not drop anything on death). -enemies (excluding bosses) have a small chance to be turned into a blue slime when struck and surviving from a bouncy gel (from volatile gelatin) and all (non-boss) slimes are passive.
Maybe insatead of buffing the acceessorie making it so you can combine the auto attack accsessories in one so you get all attacks in one accessories. That would make it so the expert item can go straight to the other prehardmode extra attacking accsessories
What if we remove gravity from it, make it pierce infinitely and lower the damage a little? It would actually help with Events. Also, as someone said, combine it with royal gel... Man, that's such a good idea. Also, maybe just make it shoot 4-5 projectiles at once, in every direction. Or make it so it has good knockback. Or it gives you 2-3 Queen Slime minions that fight on your side. Many options here. Or just copy Royal Gel: makes Hallow slimes and bats friendly.
I think this would be better if it reset its arc when it bounced off a tile. That way it wouldn’t lose any air time as it bounced and would always go the same max distance, making it stronger in enclosed spaces since it can almost always reach enemies
I feel like this item needs to AT LEAST throw multiple projectiles at once, or have infinite pierce since its effected by gravity anyways. I'd love an item that combines all the passive attacks into one. Tweaks the designs so they're more similar and just makes a zone of harm around you.
you showed all those other passive attack items at the end maybe there could be a recipe akin to the ankh shield or something to that affect that combines all those items (and maybe more) into a true hardmode worthy accessory
I like to think that this is even worse than the Gravity Globe, as at least that can be used for _some_ minigames lol

"It pierces 3 enemies, wooowwww....." Comic gold, love it! Have you considered a Terraria play thru? Your humor would great. :)
Well, even in an accesories only for damage runs, the voliatile gelatin is never used due to how bad it is, it really requires a rework
0:23 how did you created your illusions?
Hallow armor, made from hallowed bar that are obtainable from any mech boss. Set bonus: Invisibility after striking enemy. Really useful in bosses😊
They should either
-Make it leave a puddle that will inflict the OOA's army debuff "Oozed"
-Make its velocity significantly faster
It also might work as an aoe item of sorts like clorophyte armor set bonus in calamity
that build with all the pieces sound good for an angler set up in one of those loadouts.
this at least does *something*. royal gel is much worse , even if both are F tier
I set up a fishing build in prehardmode with everything I needed. I added the bone glove and helm to my fishing build
Having a combat, fishing, and mining loadout using the new F1,F2,F3 swapping is very useful as well.
the best outcome for this item is that it turns the slimes into YOUR slimes so they actually fight for you
Instead of the balls, I would prefer that the gelatin periodically gives you the smash ability of the queen slime which also has pretty great knockback and damage.
I actually suggested combining it with the royal gelatin so it would also keep you safe from slime enemies.
Making all slimes fight for you and spawn queen slime slimes would be nice for a buff/rework
I really wish expert items could be tinkered, like combining this with royal gel, or the shield of cthulu with the ankh shield/paladin’s shield
I mean, i can come up with a use for it:
Stack it with bone helm (and spore sac later on) for a decent auto-defense while fishing if you're not using any summons.
Volatile Gelatin can be used while night fishing to keep enemies away without any need in using summon weapons.
It would be cool if it had her attack where it fires a slime ball in all directions at once away from the player, maybe like a better thorns potion
Tweaks the designs so they're more similar and just makes a zone of harm around you.
you showed all those other passive attack items at the end
maybe there could be a recipe akin to the ankh shield or something to that affect that combines all those items (and maybe more) into a true hardmode worthy accessory
