- In this today's video you can see an onboard footage of a 2017 Radical RXC Turbo 500 at Monza circuit. This is the street-legal version of the RXC and its powered by Ford's 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 EcoBoost engine which is able to produce 530 horsepower and 652Nm of torque! Hope you enjoy the video!

West Coast Supercars and Classics it’s 670hp and it’s LOTS faster. That car (with a “gentleman driver”, the owner) did 1:47”6 vs a GT3 pole position of 1:50”...

Carlo Leoni Sorry Carlo but you’re wrong. The R8 is for sure 3 to 5 seconds slower. Recent race in Monza gave a pole position to Blancpain GT3 cars at 1:50. This Radical (driven by a gentleman, not a professional driver) has a best at 1:47.6

very composed car, very impressed in this track to keep with more horsepower cars... it felt like it needed that next 100hp on top but the torque is fine, its a fukin monster , to be honest just amazing that a 500hp is considered low hp these days.... but yep very solid car.

I mean, except roadcar-based racecar there are lots of single-seated racing cars and Mclaren F1 had a centre-seat and two seat in the back or whatever.
guess Mclaren no longer does that means that's not really good as they expected? but I still think many people drive these kinda car would drive alone, lose some weight and more 'pure racing carlike' experience.

Agree. The car can go a lot faster with a quicker driver. They are some obvious paces where he was on the wrong line, late on throttle or braking early.
Well there is a simple reason for that, the Audi is driven by a professional, seasoned racing driver, the Radical is a privately owned car that is being driven by it's owner, who is not a professional racing driver

The reason is that this driver is taking corners as if he has no downforce, and he's also not leaving corners in the best gear. It's either his 1st time out with the car or he's driving at 6/10 for some other reason.

Skreamies - Yeah, that wasn’t intentional, and sounded like he forgot to engage 1st gear before revving the engine and attempting to pull away. That clattering noise was the dogs on the 1st/2nd dog ring hitting the dogs on 1st gear. Not good, and causing damage that will eventually allow it to jump out of 1st gear.

No..80s racecar boxes by Hewland are very hard to break..but stuff comes loose when they are hammered for a long time...racecars get rebuild often

It´s a huge difference between race slicks and street legal tires. So I think this headline "street legal is chasing GT3) is not correct.
The Radical is designed as a racecar, has much better power/weight ratio
and full slick tires. Still an amazing machine, but not such a big
surprise when its as fast as a GT3.

Street legal. Except that you can't go over any sort of bump or on-ramp, can't take anything with you and if the road is at all bumpy (like most roads) your ass is going to get damn sore on a long drive XD

Are you planning to road trip this car any time soon? It may not be comfortable for long, and you've certainly gotta plan your route to avoid speed bumps, but I'm sure it'll carry more than a motorcycle. I'd drive it to work once a month, just because I could. :)

Nice video, but looks like the Radical has a lot more lap time in it.. the driver was going way too easy at turn 6 and turn 7, and definitely more time to be had at 8.9.10 complex. Let's give him a free pass for Parabolica.. This car like amazing.

The slowest fastest car I have ever seen. WTF? Why does it seem like the RPMs take too long to climb and the entry and exit speeds into the corners are much slower than they could be?

The radical is certainly held back by the limits of it’s tire sizes. Owning one, what I wouldn’t do with another inch or two of tire width!

This is not the road legal version of the RXC Turbo 500. It is race spec with slick tyres and the two pipe race exhaust and racing rear lights from the RXC Turbo GT3
Sorry sirs, this IS the road street legal version. You can see it also at top Marques Monaco. I personally know the owner. I’ve been with him... once in you get enchanted... once out you’ll have just one thought: I want one! Also his “personal best” (on slick, obviously, is 1:47.6)
I think @Tripod is right, stock version has the original 7 speed gearbox from Ford which doesn't make this kind of noise.. This one seems to have a 6 speed Xtrac, allthought the max rpm @ 6700 seems correct.
the video does say "road legal" not that it is the road legal version of the radical. can be different things.

You realize how bad your argument is right? ... Every thing you just mentioned can be purchased extra from radical when they are building your car.
These are hand made to YOUR SPEC they are not mass produced and stored on a lot in an abundance so to say this is NOT a street legal Radical is just silly based on those 3 things you specified you cant drive on the street with slicks how ever that doesn't negate the car being able to be registered and driven on the road with proper tires.
It's ultra smooth and does it effortlessly. It may look slow but that's the sign of a very quick car. Look at the way he eats up cars and he really isn't forcing the car at all.

Oh wow! What a car and what a drive. Incredible grip and a very smooth drive. Proof that weight is the enemy. I was surprised that they were straight on it, out of the pits. Was expecting them to warm the tyres and brakes first.

What a cracking little motor, fantastic noise and it managed to embarrass any number of 911's and got within spitting distance of a GT3 race spec Audi r8. If this really is road legal, holy shit!!
Tbh, we don’t know which is the faster car. But the R8 should have a more suited setup and balance. Every driver input is stored and analyzed to find any room for improving deltas. To make things more robust, every mechanical part of the car is easily accessible, adjustable or serviceable. For instance, a GT3 car can be easily derestricted from its BOP specs, such as opening restrictors, rake heights exceeding regulations or removing the skid blocks (not sure if they have) and these cars will be significantly faster around the track. Those are the things that ‘street legal’ cars fall short - for good and economical reasons.
I love it when people that buy stuff like this actually race the shit out of it. It doesn’t matter what your skill level is, as long as ur out there man that’s all that matters. Do the things in life that make you happy because you don’t wanna look back when ur 70 and regret not doing shit like this. Even if all you can afford is a beat up Miata, if you wanna go around a track and test yourself and your car then fuck, just do it! Instead of spending $5-10 a day for lunch, start packing one before you go to work. That’s $280ish a month you will have in your pocket so you can afford tires and gas and the cover price for a track day or weekend. Please don’t skip over this comment, this can be applied to anything in life. We only get one shot at this shit so let’s make the most of it

Traffic really hurt since Audi started in front. R8 great exiting, Radical caught up huge on full throttle stretch runs. Didn't see them together in the bends unimpeded enough.

WOW, for a super car, the Radical is not quick, the 911s pull it off the corners. and, while it seems better able to corner and transition, the Audi rips its lungs out in acceleration!
