Excellent window pro information
Big help, thanks.
Men of culture. I see we gather again
What about those of us who live in places in the US that use removable storm windows?
Madd Dogg , I think for the most part, removable windows are a thing of the past, with these you no longer have to remove the window. They have built in screens so they can be opened during the summer with out removing. Growing up we lived in a house built in 1885. We had removable windows. My father had to every fall put on and every spring take off. In the 1970s he installed this kind and no longer used the removable windows. Of course I suppose there is another use for storm window use then severe cold weather like we have in MN. But even now with double pain windows, storm windows are not needed as much if you replace the whole window with the better windows they have now.
Do not use dust mask for scrapping lead paint. Use respirator for scrapping lead paint.
If there's lead, you don't do jack crap and let the painters who are qualified and certified to do it.
Would you assume it’s lead paint?
@@gmrrnracr In a storm window? Absolutely.
Why do they have 2 windows? I’m so confused
Tyler Ward because old windows only had a single-pane-of-glass so the outside window add some insulation it's called a storm window. It saves money on heating and air conditioning.
I believe Storm Windows are more common in Northern climates with Freezing Temps. Helps gives windows more insulation against cold.
Why not remove the old storm first, measure it and order a replacement if you need a new storm?
What this house need is new siding instead of painting.
sounds expensive
@@rtgardner90 ACTUALLY they could put aluminum over the wood, that's what the previous owner did with my house. Built 1927 so an OLD house, 5 more years until it is 100.
Why not post type of window and manufacturing company
They did. Click on "more" under the video description. They were made by Harvey.
You guys think after Tom installed the window outside he did some drilling inside?
;) Oh I'm sure he did heheh
that window looks okay..why replace it?
The one that came off looked 100% the same.
The problem is hard to opening and closing.
I guess to teach you how to remove storm windows too
its just a tv show its just to show you how to do it
why do you use wood for window frames ..why ?
Every old house has wooden window frames.. Aluminium is only something that you find in new or refurbished houses.
Wood is actually one of the best materials for window frames. It is very durable, much more than vinyl. And, it just looks nice.
Aluminum is also highly conductive, meaning all the heat would escape (or enter) the house through the sill.
Strangely enough... right now I am replacing all of our windows and storm windows with Andersen 200 Series windows... we are DONE with storm windows!
Porsche924Tim that was not a good choice to replace your windows old wooden windows are better than vynle windows. vynle windows look tacky and only last 20 years
The reasons I replaced my old wooden windows...
- They were rotting in spots
- They were drafty
- The outside neeeded painting constantly
- I got rid of the pain in the a$$ storm windows
- The divider panes in the new windows are between the glass for easy cleaning
- They easily tilt in for easy cleaning by sliding two simple latches
- No outside painting and cutting in
- The frames are wood, but vinyl clad (check your spelling of vinyl)
- The glass is e-rated for lower cooling bills in the summer
- MUCH better weatherstripping and sealing with these windows
- They easily slide up and down instead of the old crappy wooden windows that swelled and shrunk with humidity
... but some say they only last 20 years? I'm 65, so I guess they may only last me until I'm 85!!!
These windows were the best investment I've made in this house that I built 32 years ago!
Porsche924Tim they could of been weatherstripped painted and pached with wood putty
please tell me you at least put them in your basement or attic so in the future they can be put back in
I'm going to store 23 windows??????????????????????????????????????????
Scares me that you can put and take apart a window with a silent cordless drill from the outside of the house! I got heavy duty steel doors and windows here that you can only take apart if you have a loud grinder !
Ten minutes is a lot of time! Nowadays thief can rob a bank with two minutes with homemade dynamite lol ten minutes will be the time with a grinder trying to get in making so much noise that can can get ready with ammo on your gun !
Boy oh boy! It would be awesome if people with homemade dynamite got charged as terrorists ! They use this method in a next state to blow ATM ! I would really enjoy if Rio could be on it's own as a country and have better laws for security ! Lots of drug dealers gangs in Rio and the law here still not enough to stop of from growing
LiPe VoLcOm Are you serious? Someone isn't going to unscrew a window... they would just use a rock laying on the ground.
