- This is a relaxing vlog (video blog) where I take you on the journey of designing my applique patterns for quilt as you go.
Come and see the sights of Sydney as I head to the Queen Victoria Building, The Art Gallery of NSW, and Australia Museum.
If you would like more design videos or would like more tips on how to design your own applique patterns, please let me know.
All of my applique patterns are available on my website www.patternpoole.com
I have been designing applique patterns for almost six years now, I enjoy the process and how I am constantly changing and evolving as an artist and quilter. You can read more of my journey on my blog: www.patternpoo...
I also do pattern commissions, so reach out if you are interested.

We call those shield bugs ‘stink bugs’ in the US!! 😂
😂 so lucky it didn’t stink all over me haha
I really love your applique patterns and your quilting methods but was wondering if you would ever consider offering them as .svg file as well as pdfs??? Anyway, thanks for all your teaching it's much appreciated.
thank you so much! I have wondered however, I feel that is I do offer svg files I would have to be in a position to support customers using cutting and embroidery machines and I am not very up to date with all of that, so I guess that is my major barrier. But something to keep thinking about, thank you!
I love that you brought us on your jearny of what stimulates your artistic juices. I look forward to your videos and quilting. Thank you
thank you!
Thanks Alaura, great to have some insight into where your wonderful designs come from. At about 8.33 there is a blue and white quilt (top right) is there a pattern for this one, can’t see it on your website.
Thank you so much, not yet but there might be a pattern for it in the future 🙂
I didn’t know that there was a Luna Park in Australia, like on Coney Island in New York USA!
Yes, it is like Coney Island NYC, but not as exciting. We have another Luna park in Melbourne too!
Hi! I love your videos but I was wondering what kind of batting is best to use. TYIA ❤
Thanks so much, we use a low loft cotton batting 🙂
Fantastic insights to your inspiration!
Gargoyle and Griffin for the fantasy theme😃
Thanks so much ❤️ great suggestions 😊
A very relaxing vlog Alaura. Beautiful camera work around Sydney and really enjoyed seeing your design process. Love it.
Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed it 😊
I have been making blankets for my 30 grandchildren, each with fleece on the back. Doing the binding has been horrible on most. The last one I made it with the 1 inch binding. Oh my goodness what an amazing difference in technique….. THANK YOU!!!!!!
That’s awesome, you’re welcome!
I love all your patterns and tutorials! Thank you! Could you guys do a cute hip-length quilt jacket pattern and tutorial? We would LOVE that! I can't wait to order your book! Karen @kfitzy5
Where can I buy the backing tapes? Thanks
We need more videos please!! Ordered the book, waiting and excited about it. Strongly considering to do the Mystery quilt.
We have lots more videos coming this year!
Sorry my question isn’t for this play line, but I was wanting to know when you are stitching and flipping are you knotting at each start and finish line? I have a brother that will knot each finish but it doesn’t look so good on the back. Probably a lame question lol.
The answer is yes. Try bringing the bobbin thread to the top and start and finish with 6 or 7 tiny stitches. I show how to do it in this video here: ua-cam.com/video/UlBOPPZLs_g/v-deo.htmlsi=97LTdl44E7Dchmo2
TY for the beautiful trip with you! Amazing color inspirations. Great job!💕🧵
