Miss Grace , this young lady`s talent is just,, idk even know what to say. Ella Fitzgearld and Louis Armstong dont` even compete.and the unintentional siren in the background .i could go on for days,,i can`t listen just once.
She reminds me yet again, Neil, that before her, I had grown accustomed to good and very good, but hardly ever truly great music. In fact, she has taught me that I did not know what great music was. Her emotional Midas touch with every genre of music that she touches speaks to something deeper than just talent, which I suppose may be obvious to the more-than-casual observer. Even when she does a lullaby love song, like this, there’s not even a hint of sentimentality or emotional whitewashing, which even the great Mama Cass has a tinge of. She seems utterly incapable of inauthenticity or shallowness. I think I have finally surrendered to the idea that I will be regularly incredulous and overjoyed by her musical expression. Thanks, my friend.

@@haroldwilson950 Thank you! No, I have not found anyone comparable to Grace. It’s as if Shakespeare suddenly reappeared and turned all current writers pale. It seems to me the vast majority of human beings become jaded and mentally cloistered sometime around puberty, turning a bit cynical and protecting themselves from other human beings emotionally. Grace seems to have absolutely none of that, not even a scintilla, astoundingly. She does occasionally seem to feel the enormous pressure and opinion and society, but then she works through it, figures it out and turns it into great music, making her soul pristine again. She seems utterly determined to stay fresh, and to experience life in the microsecond with full identity. We can only count ourselves lucky that this type of courageous soul also happens to be eloquent and introspective and astoundingly musical, sharing that emotional electricity of life that she has. My hope for Grace, going forward, is that she does not immerse herself in the common blandness of adulthood: politics. That pursuit, I think, tends to sully souls - though perhaps she could be one of the few exceptions to that paradigm.
There's no-one else is there, that can do this? As people have said elsewhere when she does this type of thing she gets compared to another young lady who does this kind of thing - but that one can't do emotion like our girl. Have you seen Sam's analysis of the production? Interesting.
Think she sings a little Mama Cass in Hollywood Stargirl, and that appears to be the guitar Shawn Mendes gave her for her 13 birthday. And yes someone needs to convince Columbia Records to let Grace record an album of this style of music. Let her make for sake of art this style of smooth jazz classics, and to make money put out stuff like pop/rock/R&B, and hip hop for the high school college age on tour and EP.
OK folks need to understand the range of what Grace can do. in contrast to her voice on this song - Listen to the first 1 minute of her silly dialog with her sister at the Sonic drive through. At the start, she belts out only seconds of Gnarl Barkley's "crazy" but it's out of this world. Then at 1:00 she starts again for a second. She seldom uses this voice - only 1 in a million people can sing like that.. ua-cam.com/video/KKpTO7ZCMPo/v-deo.html I'd give a lot to hear her using this voice on stage... it's so rare
Another cover that definitely could have been hers. I wonder if she even knows why so many older folks love her?? Ben a min since I’ve check any vids of Grace. Supper busy getting ready for retirement. Sending love from SE Michigan.
Thanks Dax for your support of Grace's work. She's beyond amazing. This is studio worthy except for that annoying siren heard in the background at the end...
Thanks, Michael, but I don’t support Grace’s work. I simply adore and respect her work and express that to the world as best I can. She is our greatest living artist. Thanks again

How can grace take a 90 year old song and sing it better than anyone ever has
Grace is amazing
Five years on as a fan, she still surprises me with her ability to evoke emotion like no other. Stunning! Thanks Dax!
I knew you would love this
I have listened to this 20 times
I'd buy this! This is a radio song.
No doubt in my mind that those sirens were on their way to put out the four alarm fire she ignited on her block with this vocal performance……damn!!
I love that take on the background sirens!
haha, best comment!👍
Thanks Dax good reaction. Splendid, back to the 60's what a voice and what a charm an immeasurable talent.Congratulations and "always success"!!!
I see this as the entertainment for a quiet bar. I would be sitting there every night.
front table too
Her low's are so divine.
I really love how she sings songs like this and cry mo a river they really should release an lp of her covers

Hey Dax, great reaction. -- No one EVER, only Grace, could/can do this with a song. I am out of superlatives.

Imagine that song produced in full studio? This could be a great movie closing song. I loved Mama rendition, but Grace’s is a brand new song.
Maybe we will get something like that from Hollywood Stargirl.
Yes. It would be a perfect closing song.
I can't think of anything she can't do
Instead of the whistling Grace has the ambulance siren.
You loved two GVW song in a row-she must be onto something!

They should release all of grace vanderwaal cover songs because she makes them hers
Dax, you skipped Doris Day!
Yes, skipped her and a bunch of others also. Been more than 60 renditions, but Doris was good obviously. Thanks
So Darn Sultry....But Not. How she do that ?
