Nice review! I got my vinyl boxset last Friday, and have listened several times since..... I love the new remix; it puts the 'punch' back into a stereo Revolver that the original couldn't manage with its horrible hard panned vocals/instruments....It's a whole new beast! The mono LP sounds a little 'brighter' than the 2014 LP, and the original 60s mono pressings; it seems to have a bit more life to it, which I love. 💕 I also love that so much attention to detail was used with this release; all the correct PMC/PCS, and XEX/YEX codes are present and correct, plus the fact that we now have the 'Sold In UK...' text on the records; just as it was when they first came out! 😊 The only slight irritation is that all the care to reproduce the record labels so accurately, they didn't do the LP flipbacks on the covers of the stereo and mono covers... 😞 Never mind, I love it as it is, and am seriously considering the CDS boxset as well now, just have it I guess!! 😆

Just playing the outtakes cd from the 2cd set .. wow couldn’t be happier… The remix is fantastic.. a little loud.. but amazing what they have achieved here.. it’s definitely still Revolver ..only with 2022 bells and whistles..sounds so fresh… Will one day hope to buy the full lp set …till then 2 cd is great bang for your English pounds …

Looks like a Rega? My trusty Linn Sondek LP12 is set to reveal the magic. Incidentally, I did get inner groove distortion on the mono Rain from the 2014 box, so hoping for better this time.
Maybe some people just save and have a priority on certain releases.. I personally can only afford the 2 cd set ..and very much looking forward to it ..

I preordered this on Amazon-Japan. The “Japanese” version ordered comes with a Japanese insert that includes translated lyrics. It’s now sold out and being flipped by third-party sellers on Amazon for close to 500 bucks. There appear to be more copies of the standard “worldwide” edition out there, but those who are holding out for the price to drop… its a gamble.
Looking forward to this one, though I don't think my copy will arrive before the listening party. Even though a 7-incher is more faithful to the 60's Parlophone vibe, I still wish the 5th disc was a 12-inch EP. I'm absolutely not a fan of odd-shaped items packed inside a vinyl box set.
Only 12 months ago, Giles Martin was telling everyone the technology wasn't quite ready yet to do proper justice to Revolver. 12 months later we get all this. No, this project has clearly been in the works for some time longer than what we've been led to believe me thinks.

I'm liking the quality of packaging Andrew..... I've had remix of abbey road on vinyl and only got round to listening 🎧 recently as bought a turntable and it's a joy to hear enhanced sounds .....🎸🎸
I think they(Apple/Calderstone) missed an opportunity with both Vinyl and CD to do a super Uber set with both CDs and Vinyl and much more Schwag. Like A Revolver Out Now Poster, A Beatles butcher cover poster all the alternate Robert Whitaker pictures and maybe the Beatles live in Japan cd/DVD/Blue Ray.
For the mono album, it appears they replicated how the front is laminated and the back is matte. Sadly, they didn’t replicate the sleeve flipbacks like they did for the 2014 mono reissue… but that’s nitpicking slightly. Regarding the cutting of the mono album, I’m not sure the 60’s albums were flat transfers. The cutting engineer will likely have tweaked it to suit vinyl standards at the time. For the 2014 mono set, I believe they referred to the cutting notes to replicate as close as possible. But what really matters in the end is how it sounds.

Andrew, I've watched all three of your Revolver videos, and you've got me pumped up for tomorrow. A couple of questions for you. I recently have set my turntable back up because the vinyl is of such high quality now. I've never thought to look to see if the record lies flat or not. With 180 gm vinyl you would think that it not a problem. Anyways, Revolver will be my first vinyl only Box set. Is there a big difference in sound quality between the CD version and the vinyl version? Also can you tell me what type of stereo system you have, and what you think of it? I in the process of buying affordable, but not cheap new stereo equipment, so I need opinions on what is good.
Hi George, I have a Rega P3 turntable with Audio Technika cartridge upgrade. Marantz amp and Audio Monitor Bronze speakers. Usually vinyl comes across much better than the CD but not always. Still need to have more time with the new Revolver in vinyl to have a definite view on that.
@@TheSchemel Very. There was always someone the past I was looking to upgrade but there's no aspect of what I have now that I feel any need to change. Very happy with my digital set up also.
One thing I would’ve wanted to see in the revolver box set for the outtakes is eleanor rigby strings only which was on the anthology and I don’t know why they didn’t include that with just the stringed instruments without the vocals really was kind of expecting to have that in the sessions and there’s only to session takes of eleanor rigby in the box set on the outtakes so they would’ve bad room to include that early take of that song they could have three takes of eleanor rigby

Thanks Jase, it's just too small to put with my big box sets and too big to go with my small box sets, so it gets out where it will fit! 😄 I really hope they do a big box to cover the period between Pepper and The White Album, and really go in depth in Magical Mystery Tour, will be a shame if they don't.

Hi Andrew, really enjoy uour clips. Can't wait to get my LP box set. In the gatefold pic you showed you can see a "TEAL travel bag" in the pic, it was a give away as a carry on bag from New Zealand's national Airline at the time T.E.A.L. (Trans Empire Airways Limited) later called " Air New Zealand". The bags were given to the Beatles on their 1964 tour of New Zealand. It was a vinyl zip up shoulder bag.
When you say the 2014 mono was slightly EQed I take it that means there was more bass put on them as opposed to the originals which was not much bass because those cheap turntables that the fans had in the Sixties could not handle it. I have a feeling the 2012 stereo remaster of Revolver will go out of print now that the new GIles remixed version is being released.
Hi mate, Got my sets yesterday and .... Just wow. But ..... did you notice the typing error (at least I think it is) in the notes about Rain. The stereo mix was finished 2 December 1969. Page 76 in the book. But ..... what an album. The White Album has always been my favourite Beatles album and Revolver my number two Beatles album. But now Revolver ....... is at least equal to The White Album. Take care.
It's a shame that there is still no Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band vinyl box. We know the CD box from 2017 and the double LP, but unfortunately we are still waiting for the vinyl box.
Afternoon Andrew , some interesting information , regarding this box set , it includes the mono mix ( RM11 ) of tomorrow Never knows, this mix was used only on the first Batch of first pressings in 1966 , later pressings used the RM8 Mono Mix of Tomorrow Never knows Let me know what you think .
It's a great sounding mix, almost doesn't feel mono as it's so well mixed. It's quite bright and that extended intro is a fun alternative, I'm liking it!
Damn you Andrew you inspired me to tackle the 100 mile round trip to my beloved Dublin city this very day of the official release of Revolver. No less than the vinyl box set! As you already know I’ve been sitting on the fence with this one. Anyway I’m just home about an hour and I just couldn’t wait to pop into my own Abbey Road to have a brief listen. One word : REVELATORY. I’m not one for OTT conclusions but, the inescapable fact is, WOW! Aesthetically, musically and sonically it’s the full five globes. I can’t explain but there’s just something happening here that I haven’t experienced before. A feeling of presence. Of being there in that hallowed 1966 room. Again very briefly the new stereo mix is a more grown up affair and sounds better than I expected. Much better in fact. I’ll just mention one tiny bugbear I’ve always had about Paul’s vocals - sibilance. Not here, there and everywhere but on certain songs. Take For No One for example. For the first time the sibilance is properly sorted and now sounds much less grating. Then you realise, just from that one instance, that the remixers really did try to make the whole album sound more grown up without excessive tinkering and it’s all the better for that. Finally a quick listen to the sessions on Side One and, well what can one possibly say? It starts of with two takes of TNK which, as someone said before, they could listen to a side long loop of in any shape or form. Then I was hit by George’s stark vocals on take one of Love You To. At first I didn’t know which of them it was until I realised it really was George. His presence here is spooky. Absolutely cannot wait until the wee small hours to hear the rest of it properly whilst perusing the book by candlelight while my valves gently glow 😊

You provide a very useful service for New Beatle releases but one question has plagued me. How do you manage to afford to buy multiple copies of all these expensive releases, or is it now a job for you. Sorry for the cheeky question, but I could never afford to but all the versions you have entertained is with. Thanks Andrew.
That's a much politer way of asking than some manage so I'll answer! 😄 It's my main hobby, so instead of paying things like a golf club membership or similar that I might have some in the past, I do this instead. Also, the money from UA-cam ads helps a lot meaning I can get some of the stuff that I would have had to have reluctantly chosen to miss out on in the past.

Mine has inner groove distortion on the stereo LP just like other "Made in EU" LPs the past few years e.g., Let It Be box set, played on a considerable costing setup. Returning in hopes of a good copy. It is like Electric Ladyland all over again if anyone was around then to experience the poor pressings from 68-69.
The Let it Be vinyl boxset going for around $125 Cdn while this Revolver set going for $300 Cdn! I’ll wait several months for the price to drop to half of what it costs now!
I have not so far enjoyed the new mixes of the stereo albums (I have all of them, alas). They tend to make things louder and reduce such dynamic variety as they let through in the originals. The new 'Taxman' is really terrible, IMO. They have boosted the bass lines in many songs, including 'Taxman', in a way that upsets the overall balance. I'm looking forward to finding out if they've improved the mono version on LP. I find the 2014 LP greatly inferior to UK originals, though I accept that it was done in the right way using all analogue signal paths. Perhaps the second go at this has produced a more lively, involving version. I hope so!
Are these reviewers getting special deliveries? I ordered Deluxe CD+ Deluxe Vinyl + Shirts and they have yet to been delivered yet. Did I order too much? Is that why it’s yet to be delivered (or shipped for that matter).

I need to find a proper technique as I don't currently have one other than a regular vinyl brush. I tried the wood glue method once on an old record but it wasn't entirely successful and there's no way I'd do it on an expensive record.
Thanks for your enjoyable video. I always look forward to them. I have a question about the sound quality of vinyl vs CD. When CDs came out in the '80s, I was overjoyed. No more surface noise: the quiet bits actually sounded quiet. No more warped discs, and no more fear of scratches. I replaced my entire collection. I'm astonished by the vinyl "comeback". Is the sound quality noticably better? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
When vinyl is done well (which isn't always the case) and when played through a good system, it will have an overall vibe that CD cannot match. There are several albums I've known on CD since the 90s, that have just been completely transformed when I've bought on vinyl. And then sometimes the CD is done so well it feels pointless changing to a vinyl version.

I‘m upset and very, very sad. This is my fav. Beatles album and the 1st deluxe box set I probably won’t buy because there‘s no 5.1 Blu-ray. I don‘t have atmos equipment and even if I had, I wouldn‘t want to stream ! 😢😢😢😢😢

Been listening on Spotify… Love it! unfortunately i won’t be able to buy for awhile and if i do i’ll probably just be able to afford the 2 CD edition which i’ll be completely satisfied with. Another topic i wanted to ask about. Magical Mystery Tour. it wasn’t really a “proper album” and we already have “Strawberry Fields and “Penny Lane” remix. and of course there’s the 4 “Yellow Submarine soundtrack” songs. i’m wondering now, would it be so strange if Giles Martin put out a whole new CD consisting of remixes of songs from Magical Mystery Tour” with “All You Need Is Love” and “Baby, Youre a Rich Man single along with the 4 YS soundtrack songs and throw in remixes of “Lady Madonna” and “Inner Light” (since we just got the sessions versions on the White Album box…). just brainstorming…
There definitely needs to be something that covers that period between Pepper and the White Album sessions, so all that stuff would fit nicely in there!
Also Andrew how do you think the vinyl mono in the new box set compares to an original 66 UK mono? Because I don't have the 2014 vinyl box (only the white album separately which is obviously fantastic) but I do have a really really nice 66 UK mono and I can't wait to get my box set to compare and just wanted to know what you think if you have one of the 66 UK mono originals?
@@AndrewDixonMusic One day I'll get that 2014 box but it's a hell of a lot of money essentially for albums you already have. Because I do already have every single UK original 60s monos but for some reason the 2014 box is still seen as the ultimate to get even though I have great originals. It's hard because it's a whole set of brand new monos done exactly the same as the originals but brand new. I just don't know if I'm just as good with excellent copies of the originals. What do you think? As a fellow Beatle maniac and collector? Would you stump up the cash the 2014 box if you had all the 60s originals in really good shape? Because I do still feel like I'm missing out on not having it because it's so lauded.
(P) 2022 date on label should be a giveaway…also the mono included in this box has the XEX 606 - 1 version of Tomorrow Never Knows, also known as RM11.

Same! As soon as I read the new edition of the mono mix was AAA, I ordered it from UDiscover with the discounts they were running. 120 is a great deal for 4 LPs, a 7" and a beautiful book. I can't find any new press Beatles album for less than $27, or hardback Beatles' book for less than $30. And the sessions gatefold with the Freeman collage is just too cool to pass up on or settle for the small CD version of.

Sorry I haven't seen the USA version so I can't say. You should easily be able to find an American unboxing video from tomorrow to see how it compares to what I show here. My expectation would be that they are identical.
I suppose the vinyl is mastered from a digital source. Does anyone know if they used the Plangent System with the master tapes ? It would have been nice to get a fully analog vinyl release and a hi-res (24bit/96khz) digital copy but from what I can tell we have neither. Still the packing of both versions is superb and makes it a great collectors item.
@@AndrewDixonMusic The mono album is from the original 1966 mix as far as I can tell. I suppose there is no point doing a mono remix for this set. Many people say that the original mono record of this (and other albums) is the best one to hear.
The elements feel too separated to me, and it loses a lot of impact, it doesn't have the raw power of the original. On the other hand , I'd say Good Day Sunshine benefits from exactly the same situation!
I guess that your right ringo probably isn't interested in doing it just thought it would be nice to read his views, I did message you a while ago to say that I wouldn't be getting this, but I've succumbed as if I'm being honest I knew that I would I went for the vinly version as I have done on all of them so far it was the mono that tipped the balance for me I hope that I won't be disappointed, unfortunately there has been some delay so I'm not getting mine until Tues so I'm gona set my alarm for jus after midnight an listen on Spotify a bit later on hopeni don't wake the whole house up..
Hi Andrew I got my copy of revolver today really disappointed the mono sounds awful, got to get you into my life is too tinny in sound some of the songs have too much bass an tomorrow never knows the bass is basically missing very inconsistent sound on the whole record, the stereo version sounds virtually the same as what I've already got in my collection extremely disappointed to the point where its probably goin back see if I can get a refund what a waste of 180 quid...

Well, except Let It Be, coz I wanted the Glyn Johns mix on vinyl. I don’t like the EP’s on the CD (seems a waste) BUT the vinyl EP you show here looks great! @@AndrewDixonMusic I had to speed up Thrillington. Same key though. And I couldn’t quite match the speed to the vocals, so I had to chop them up and put them where needed. Took a while 😉 I’m proud of it though.
I found this super deluxe remix very underwhelming. 2022 remixes sound the same as the originals, and the takes chosen were crap - mostly instrumental and nothing juicy. Really dissapointed that For No One take 10 was instrumental - there are some beautiful earlier versions of it with singing taken down from UA-cam
I can't bring myself to pay the extortionate price, with all the shortcomings I already know are on this set, including that lame excuse for a book which your unconscious rightly insisted is a hardback booklet but a booklet nonetheless. It's a real nail-biter today, almost going for it, then coming to my senses, it's hair-rising, it's knuckle-biting, it's nuclear brinksmanship, and every minute I'm getting older and all of us getting further away from the Sixties and half of us moving further away from the sun! If only I could steal one from the store, I'd have no scruples. Shoplifters of the world unite! If I succumb it will have to come down in price by at least another quid on principle. And then I'll do an unboxing in the Comments - - I doubt that's ever been done before. But I'll be grouching all the while. Some say you've no right to grouch if you buy it; and some say if you don;t buy it you've no right to complain. Like voting: Catch-22.

Nice review! I got my vinyl boxset last Friday, and have listened several times since..... I love the new remix; it puts the 'punch' back into a stereo Revolver that the original couldn't manage with its horrible hard panned vocals/instruments....It's a whole new beast!
The mono LP sounds a little 'brighter' than the 2014 LP, and the original 60s mono pressings; it seems to have a bit more life to it, which I love. 💕
I also love that so much attention to detail was used with this release; all the correct PMC/PCS, and XEX/YEX codes are present and correct, plus the fact that we now have the 'Sold In UK...' text on the records; just as it was when they first came out! 😊
The only slight irritation is that all the care to reproduce the record labels so accurately, they didn't do the LP flipbacks on the covers of the stereo and mono covers... 😞 Never mind, I love it as it is, and am seriously considering the CDS boxset as well now, just have it I guess!! 😆

I just got my set and the one thing you didn't mention was, the 7" EP is the heaviest lump of 7" vinyl that I have ever come across.

I preordered this on Amazon-Japan. The “Japanese” version ordered comes with a Japanese insert that includes translated lyrics. It’s now sold out and being flipped by third-party sellers on Amazon for close to 500 bucks. There appear to be more copies of the standard “worldwide” edition out there, but those who are holding out for the price to drop… its a gamble.

Even though a 7-incher is more faithful to the 60's Parlophone vibe, I still wish the 5th disc was a 12-inch EP. I'm absolutely not a fan of odd-shaped items packed inside a vinyl box set.

Only 12 months ago, Giles Martin was telling everyone the technology wasn't quite ready yet to do proper justice to Revolver. 12 months later we get all this. No, this project has clearly been in the works for some time longer than what we've been led to believe me thinks.
It seems like Peter Jackson's technology has been a game changer and made possible what was not just a short time ago.

I think they(Apple/Calderstone) missed an opportunity with both Vinyl and CD to do a super Uber set with both CDs and Vinyl and much more Schwag. Like A Revolver Out Now Poster, A Beatles butcher cover poster all the alternate Robert Whitaker pictures and maybe the Beatles live in Japan cd/DVD/Blue Ray.
Your presentation & overall review has me increasingly excited for its arrival tomorrow.
For the mono album, it appears they replicated how the front is laminated and the back is matte. Sadly, they didn’t replicate the sleeve flipbacks like they did for the 2014 mono reissue… but that’s nitpicking slightly. Regarding the cutting of the mono album, I’m not sure the 60’s albums were flat transfers. The cutting engineer will likely have tweaked it to suit vinyl standards at the time. For the 2014 mono set, I believe they referred to the cutting notes to replicate as close as possible. But what really matters in the end is how it sounds.

Andrew, I've watched all three of your Revolver videos, and you've got me pumped up for tomorrow. A couple of questions for you. I recently have set my turntable back up because the vinyl is of such high quality now. I've never thought to look to see if the record lies flat or not. With 180 gm vinyl you would think that it not a problem. Anyways, Revolver will be my first vinyl only Box set.
Is there a big difference in sound quality between the CD version and the vinyl version? Also can you tell me what type of stereo system you have, and what you think of it? I in the process of buying affordable, but not cheap new stereo equipment, so I need opinions on what is good.
Hi George, I have a Rega P3 turntable with Audio Technika cartridge upgrade. Marantz amp and Audio Monitor Bronze speakers.
Usually vinyl comes across much better than the CD but not always. Still need to have more time with the new Revolver in vinyl to have a definite view on that.

One thing I would’ve wanted to see in the revolver box set for the outtakes is eleanor rigby strings only which was on the anthology and I don’t know why they didn’t include that with just the stringed instruments without the vocals really was kind of expecting to have that in the sessions and there’s only to session takes of eleanor rigby in the box set on the outtakes so they would’ve bad room to include that early take of that song they could have three takes of eleanor rigby

Hi Andrew, really enjoy uour clips. Can't wait to get my LP box set. In the gatefold pic you showed you can see a "TEAL travel bag" in the pic, it was a give away as a carry on bag from New Zealand's national Airline at the time T.E.A.L. (Trans Empire Airways Limited) later called " Air New Zealand". The bags were given to the Beatles on their 1964 tour of New Zealand. It was a vinyl zip up shoulder bag.

When you say the 2014 mono was slightly EQed I take it that means there was more bass put on them as opposed to the originals which was not much bass because those cheap turntables that the fans had in the Sixties could not handle it. I have a feeling the 2012 stereo remaster of Revolver will go out of print now that the new GIles remixed version is being released.

Got my sets yesterday and .... Just wow.
But ..... did you notice the typing error (at least I think it is) in the notes about Rain. The stereo mix was finished 2 December 1969. Page 76 in the book.
But ..... what an album. The White Album has always been my favourite Beatles album and Revolver my number two Beatles album. But now Revolver ....... is at least equal to The White Album.

Hi Pe, I think that's right about Rain, It didn't get a stereo remix until the Hey Jude album which was being created I think around the end of 1969.

It's a shame that there is still no Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band vinyl box. We know the CD box from 2017 and the double LP, but unfortunately we are still waiting for the vinyl box.
Afternoon Andrew , some interesting information , regarding this box set , it includes the mono mix ( RM11 ) of tomorrow Never knows, this mix was used only on the first Batch of first pressings in 1966 , later pressings used the RM8 Mono Mix of Tomorrow Never knows

It's a great sounding mix, almost doesn't feel mono as it's so well mixed. It's quite bright and that extended intro is a fun alternative, I'm liking it!
Damn you Andrew you inspired me to tackle the 100 mile round trip to my beloved Dublin city this very day of the official release of Revolver. No less than the vinyl box set! As you already know I’ve been sitting on the fence with this one. Anyway I’m just home about an hour and I just couldn’t wait to pop into my own Abbey Road to have a brief listen. One word : REVELATORY. I’m not one for OTT conclusions but, the inescapable fact is, WOW! Aesthetically, musically and sonically it’s the full five globes. I can’t explain but there’s just something happening here that I haven’t experienced before. A feeling of presence. Of being there in that hallowed 1966 room. Again very briefly the new stereo mix is a more grown up affair and sounds better than I expected. Much better in fact. I’ll just mention one tiny bugbear I’ve always had about Paul’s vocals - sibilance. Not here, there and everywhere but on certain songs. Take For No One for example. For the first time the sibilance is properly sorted and now sounds much less grating. Then you realise, just from that one instance, that the remixers really did try to make the whole album sound more grown up without excessive tinkering and it’s all the better for that. Finally a quick listen to the sessions on Side One and, well what can one possibly say? It starts of with two takes of TNK which, as someone said before, they could listen to a side long loop of in any shape or form. Then I was hit by George’s stark vocals on take one of Love You To. At first I didn’t know which of them it was until I realised it really was George. His presence here is spooky. Absolutely cannot wait until the wee small hours to hear the rest of it properly whilst perusing the book by candlelight while my valves gently glow 😊

You provide a very useful service for New Beatle releases but one question has plagued me. How do you manage to afford to buy multiple copies of all these expensive releases, or is it now a job for you. It's my main hobby, so instead of paying things like a golf club membership or similar that I might have some in the past, I do this instead. Also, the money from UA-cam ads helps a lot meaning I can get some of the stuff that I would have had to have reluctantly chosen to miss out on in the past.

Mine has inner groove distortion on the stereo LP just like other "Made in EU" LPs the past few years e.g., Let It Be box set, played on a considerable costing setup. Returning in hopes of a good copy. It is like Electric Ladyland all over again if anyone was around then to experience the poor pressings from 68-69.
The Let it Be vinyl boxset going for around $125 Cdn while this Revolver set going for $300 Cdn! I’ll wait several months for the price to drop to half of what it costs now!

I have not so far enjoyed the new mixes of the stereo albums (I have all of them, alas). They tend to make things louder and reduce such dynamic variety as they let through in the originals. The new 'Taxman' is really terrible, IMO. They have boosted the bass lines in many songs, including 'Taxman', in a way that upsets the overall balance. I'm looking forward to finding out if they've improved the mono version on LP. I find the 2014 LP greatly inferior to UK originals, though I accept that it was done in the right way using all analogue signal paths. Perhaps the second go at this has produced a more lively, involving version. I hope so!

Hi Andrew. I've ended up with two stereo LPs (labels) even though I have mono and stereo covers! They do however have different run out text so looks just a labelling issue. Could you please advise what the run out numbers are on your mono version so I can check? Thanks

I need to find a proper technique as I don't currently have one other than a regular vinyl brush.
I tried the wood glue method once on an old record but it wasn't entirely successful and there's no way I'd do it on an expensive record.

I have a question about the sound quality of vinyl vs CD.
When CDs came out in the '80s, I was overjoyed. No more surface noise: the quiet bits actually sounded quiet. No more warped discs, and no more fear of scratches. I replaced my entire collection.
I'm astonished by the vinyl "comeback". Is the sound quality noticably better? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
When vinyl is done well (which isn't always the case) and when played through a good system, it will have an overall vibe that CD cannot match.
There are several albums I've known on CD since the 90s, that have just been completely transformed when I've bought on vinyl.
And then sometimes the CD is done so well it feels pointless changing to a vinyl version.

Been listening on Spotify… Love it! unfortunately i won’t be able to buy for awhile and if i do i’ll probably just be able to afford the 2 CD edition which i’ll be completely satisfied with. Another topic i wanted to ask about. Magical Mystery Tour. it wasn’t really a “proper album” and we already have “Strawberry Fields and “Penny Lane” remix. and of course there’s the 4 “Yellow Submarine soundtrack” songs. i’m wondering now, would it be so strange if Giles Martin put out a whole new CD consisting of remixes of songs from Magical Mystery Tour” with “All You Need Is Love” and “Baby, Youre a Rich Man single along with the 4 YS soundtrack songs and throw in remixes of “Lady Madonna” and “Inner Light” (since we just got the sessions versions on the White Album box…). just brainstorming…
There definitely needs to be something that covers that period between Pepper and the White Album sessions, so all that stuff would fit nicely in there!

Also Andrew how do you think the vinyl mono in the new box set compares to an original 66 UK mono? Because I don't have the 2014 vinyl box (only the white album separately which is obviously fantastic) but I do have a really really nice 66 UK mono and I can't wait to get my box set to compare and just wanted to know what you think if you have one of the 66 UK mono originals?

@@AndrewDixonMusic One day I'll get that 2014 box but it's a hell of a lot of money essentially for albums you already have. Because I do already have every single UK original 60s monos but for some reason the 2014 box is still seen as the ultimate to get even though I have great originals. It's hard because it's a whole set of brand new monos done exactly the same as the originals but brand new. I just don't know if I'm just as good with excellent copies of the originals. What do you think? As a fellow Beatle maniac and collector? Would you stump up the cash the 2014 box if you had all the 60s originals in really good shape? Because I do still feel like I'm missing out on not having it because it's so lauded.
(P) 2022 date on label should be a giveaway…also the mono included in this box has the XEX 606 - 1 version of Tomorrow Never Knows, also known as RM11.
To me it’s a big let down most of the sessions you can have them on bootlegs and in good quality and I do have most of them.

Scored the vinyl set on Udiscover for 120! sweet! I imagine the vinyl will sell out due to the mono unfortunately!
Same! As soon as I read the new edition of the mono mix was AAA, I ordered it from UDiscover with the discounts they were running. 120 is a great deal for 4 LPs, a 7" and a beautiful book. I can't find any new press Beatles album for less than $27, or hardback Beatles' book for less than $30. And the sessions gatefold with the Freeman collage is just too cool to pass up on or settle for the small CD version of.

It's happened too often, it's not good enough.
I suppose the vinyl is mastered from a digital source. Does anyone know if they used the Plangent System with the master tapes ? It would have been nice to get a fully analog vinyl release and a hi-res (24bit/96khz) digital copy but from what I can tell we have neither. Still the packing of both versions is superb and makes it a great collectors item.
The mono vinyl is comfirmed as all analogue AAA, the other discs definitely from a digital source.
@@AndrewDixonMusic The mono album is from the original 1966 mix as far as I can tell. I suppose there is no point doing a mono remix for this set. Many people say that the original mono record of this (and other albums) is the best one to hear.
The stereo album was remixed digitally, using technology to separate instruments. So there’s no way it could ever cut as an all-analog record.

The elements feel too separated to me, and it loses a lot of impact, it doesn't have the raw power of the original.
On the other hand , I'd say Good Day Sunshine benefits from exactly the same situation!

I don't know but I'd hazard a guess that Paul is quite happy to do it and Ringo probably happy to let him!
I guess that your right ringo probably isn't interested in doing it just thought it would be nice to read his views, I did message you a while ago to say that I wouldn't be getting this, but I've succumbed as if I'm being honest I knew that I would I went for the vinly version as I have done on all of them so far it was the mono that tipped the balance for me I hope that I won't be disappointed, unfortunately there has been some delay so I'm not getting mine until Tues so I'm gona set my alarm for jus after midnight an listen on Spotify a bit later on hopeni don't wake the whole house up..
Hi Andrew I got my copy of revolver today really disappointed the mono sounds awful, got to get you into my life is too tinny in sound some of the songs have too much bass an tomorrow never knows the bass is basically missing very inconsistent sound on the whole record, the stereo version sounds virtually the same as what I've already got in my collection extremely disappointed to the point where its probably goin back see if I can get a refund what a waste of 180 quid...

I personally buy the CD Deluxe sets and just get the vinyl as a single album. Well, except Let It Be, coz I wanted the Glyn Johns mix on vinyl.
I don’t like the EP’s on the CD (seems a waste) BUT the vinyl EP you show here looks great!

And I couldn’t quite match the speed to the vocals, so I had to chop them up and put them where needed. Took a while 😉

I found this super deluxe remix very underwhelming. 2022 remixes sound the same as the originals, and the takes chosen were crap - mostly instrumental and nothing juicy. Really dissapointed that For No One take 10 was instrumental - there are some beautiful earlier versions of it with singing taken down from UA-cam
I can't bring myself to pay the extortionate price, with all the shortcomings I already know are on this set, including that lame excuse for a book which your unconscious rightly insisted is a hardback booklet but a booklet nonetheless. It's a real nail-biter today, almost going for it, then coming to my senses, it's hair-rising, it's knuckle-biting, it's nuclear brinksmanship, and every minute I'm getting older and all of us getting further away from the Sixties and half of us moving further away from the sun! If only I could steal one from the store, I'd have no scruples. Shoplifters of the world unite!
If I succumb it will have to come down in price by at least another quid on principle. And then I'll do an unboxing in the Comments - - I doubt that's ever been done before. But I'll be grouching all the while.
