How to build an acoustic guitar | SWR Handwerkskunst

Tobias Ahlke is something of a custom guitar tailor. In his workshop in Oberwinter, he builds acoustic and electric guitars completely individually according to the customer's wishes. Ahlke designed the basic shapes himself, everything else is a matter of negotiation. From the woods used to the spacing of the strings on the fingerboard, customers can determine everything themselves. And because every guitar is different, you won't find computer-controlled milling machines for mass production in the small workshop. The master craftsman works for weeks, sometimes months, on each individual guitar. Almost everything about the instruments is made by hand on site. Tobias Ahlke makes unique optical and acoustic pieces from selected woods.
