    Honestly I've had the most luck with the 3 points on the board with come bets. I win probably 48% of the time. I'm up as far as money goes because I walk as soon as I lose 100 bucks for the night. But when you're in a streak you can win hundreds. I even win a thousand or so a couple times. It's the way to go. Walking away is the real strategy.

    Not gonna take any odds, cause I'm at a "disadvantage"... Well yes you are, however you're getting "true odds" meaning that theirs no house edge on that bet, so all those other bets you placed you were technically at a larger disadvantage.

    • @ColorUp
      @ColorUp  3 роки тому +35

      And still the casino wins...almost as if a true odds bet is not helping the player beat the house. They get their cut from the line bet, so they’ve already won. you wanna put more money on the table at no house edge, they are happy to gamble with you, the have all the time and money to outlast the player....

    • @larryk1865
      @larryk1865 3 роки тому +28

      @@ColorUp "Almost as if"??? "Outlast the player"??? Neither makes any sense. Every bet on the table stands on its own and gives up a specific house edge EXCEPT the free odds bet. You cover the numbers for a good reason -- to increase the odds that on each roll of the dice you will win SOMETHING rather than just waiting for a "SEVEN OUT" against a single bet or two. That same good reason exists for making a free odds bet. Derek is right. NOT making the free odds bet technically gives a slightly higher house edge to each of your remaining bets. That's the math. And math is the only strategy that ultimately matters.

    • @ColorUp
      @ColorUp  3 роки тому +19

      @@larryk1865 The odds bet does not stand on its own. You can't make it without first making a line bet. You are right, math is the only strategy and the math only works for the casino. Players can't beat the casino with "free" odds bet, because of math which is always in the casinos favor. 100x odds or no odds effects variance, and the player may swing to positive or negative in bigger swings, but in the end the player pays 1.4% to the house on the line bet. Im not against odds, and take them when i have casino winnings in my rack, but Im more talking devils advocate when I mention this with people who think the odds bet is some secret to beating the casino. Its not. No player is going to beat the casino, they only let you make the bet after they take their percentage. There are casinos that allow 100x odds with a .002% house edge, and yet players still can't beat the casino. Why? Lots of reasons, players greed, lack of budget to sustain swings, etc. But the casino is not worried if the player has a big night, because yes, "they outlast the player " and players give it back, they win in the end every time. There is no such thing as "free" odds bet. There is always a cost.

    • @larryk1865
      @larryk1865 3 роки тому +13

      @@ColorUp By "standing on its own" I simply meant that each bet has its specific house edge. Of course the odds bet is contingent on the pass line bet, and of course the pass line bet has a 1.4% edge to the house. But the pass line ALWAYS has a 1.4% edge to the house whether you make the free odds bet or not. So why not make it? Why quibble with the definition of "free"? Why exclude IT from your bankroll/strategy of reducing the house edge over you?
      And what is this nonsense about "beating the house"? You're right. That can't be done. All anyone should be doing in Vegas is trying to have the "big night" to which you refer, or at most a big weekend. That's what strategies like yours are for. And I am certainly NOT saying that the free odds bet is some "secret" to beating the house. I just don't see ANY RATIONAL MATHEMATICAL EVIDENCE FOR EXCLUDING THE FREE ODDS BET (in some affordable measure) from such a strategy.

    • @ColorUp
      @ColorUp  3 роки тому +2

      I never said to exclude the odds, add if you can afford the bigger risk. Play odds and you will win more or lose more depending on how the dice tumble...but both players are expected to lose 1.4% of line bet. Increase the variance as you like and can afford, but you are no better off than player without odds. Expected lose is exactly the same.

    Question @ 16:28 where you rolled a 10, and won $39. You had PLACED $20 on the 10 and you should have been paid at 9:5 odds, or $36 from $20. But the dealer paid you $39 which is the BUY payout of 2:1 less the $1 vig, or ($40 - $1) from $20.
    How come the dealer didn't locate your bet up on the LAY/BUY section of the table? Is it just assumed that once the PLACE bet gets to $20, it behaves like a BUY?

    • @ColorUp

      @DougBrownVancouver 9 місяців тому

      @@ColorUp Thanks for the fast reply! I have a YT channel and respect comments with a a reply, so it's appreciated. I understood Auto Buy to be taking the Vig only on payout, but under the assumption that the bet was a BUY (or LAY.) Is the "automatic" part of the Auto Buy related to the size of the PLACE bet, i.e. $20+ is automatically paid as a BUY?

    • @ColorUp
      @ColorUp  9 місяців тому +1

      @@DougBrownVancouver actually the casinos that are moving to automatically buying for players many do it starting at $10. It is essentially a 10% vig, but it still pays better than place for player. $19 vs $18. But other casinos, yes once it’s $20 bet it just automatically gets paid as a buy bet and no need to move chip position or use marker.

      @@ColorUp that's good to know, thanks again. Your videos are very helpful and I have a suggestion for a basic intro to betting and payouts. (Maybe you have one like this, but...) I haven't seen a video that slowly explains the bets, the payout ratios and the payout process. For new players, the chips and hands fly around really fast, and the table talk is usually high level. For example in this video the dealer says "Give me $1" and "one for fifteen" (or something like that.) This is really confusing for new players and I've seen lots of real action on the floor where the players keep paying the $1 but don't know why.
      It would be so helpful to slow the action down and show (for example) how the 6/8 PLACE bet pays 7:6, so the bet should be $6 for a $7 payout. The white chips top up $5 to $6 and $10 to $12 etc. which simplifies the payout. Then the payout is in $7 units so for a $12 bet the payout is 2 * $7 = $14 and the dealer often pays $15, but asks for $1 in change. When this happens at a live action pace it's hard for the novice to see what's going on. You could do series with slowed down action for Beginner (Pass Line/Odds/Field), Intermediate (Come/Odds, Place) and Advanced (Don't Pass/Come, Buy/Lay, Prop.)
      The most helpful things from your video is the bet/win box in the top right, which is great, and helped me follow the action. If it accompanied a pause in the action where you showed the bets and payouts, it would be even better.
      Thanks again for all the videos, super helpful.

      Late reply here, but on a $10 pass line bet you are putting $10 additional at risk by betting the field, where you lose on 5, 6, 7 & 8. Since you break even 16.67% of the time when the 7 hits (winning pass line, losing field) there are 14 ways to lose your $10 and only 16 ways to win with the remaining numbers. Seems like bad odds when it only costs $2 to cover the craps to win $4 if the 2,3,12 hit (lose $10 pass line, and win $14 on the craps). Field bets, are bad bets generally speaking.

Place bets are different kind of bets, that are not contract, so more flexible, and actually pay more than line bets with odds unless you are playing at a table higher than 3x4x5x

A $10 pass line bet with $40 odds pays $70 on the 9, opposed to his $50 pass line bet which paid $50. There were several rolls that he was giving free money away.

So I'm getting edge numbers covered and often making a 2 roll parlay ($12 into 48 or even more) while other players aren't making any money on those first rolls and losing pass line bets on craps numbers. Low roller-slow and steady-very simple. Never ending come bets, never take odds on any. Start at table minimum $5. After shooter 7's out, if you are up continue with $5 never ending come bets. If you are down, raise N.E.C.B. $1 to $6. If still down after next shooter, go up by $1 to $7 and continue until that long roll comes baby! Your bets could be up to $15 $20 and than that long roll arrives with you pulling in 20 30 winning bets at $20 each! While you were losing-they were short rolls-so loses were small. Hopefully this let's you ride out the cold spell long enough to hitch a ride on that long roll.
    In first round the most you can lose is $50. Next $55, Next $60, $65, $70, $75- but remember this is you loading the table completely and then 7 out. Along the way you'll pick up some bets that win, lowering the pain on the short rolls. Actually the volatility is lower without the odds bet, so the the ride is a little smoother. Easier for a beginner.
    So lets say you have some terrible losses of establishing 6 points and then the seven shows. And some where you make a few bucks, and others where you lose a little. Then the long roll comes and you're at $$20. 30-$600! 40-$800.
    I don't know maybe you can tweak it. I've just run trial runs at home that have been good. Like I said easy to play. And it has been like I said. I'll go up and down treading water and slowly be going down, but then a semi-long roll will pick me up and on and on until the big one comes! I'm going to try this at the casino myself. Let you guys know how much I lose🤓
    Haha-we'll see. What do you guys think. Any better ways to play this way?

    When you said you are not taking odds because you are at a "disadvantage", the opposite is actually true... By taking odds you can reduce the house percentage to as low as 0.18% (when taking 10x odds)... Got to take the odds!!!

      Odds lowers house edge, trick is you can only add odds bet when at disadvantage...you are more likely to lose the bet than win. That’s why casino doesn’t allow you to take odds on the come out roll... for that roll the player is more likely to win. Casino is not doing you a favor. They allow you to get more action into game, but only once they have the advantage to win bet even if it’s a small house edge.

      Cannot take odds on the come out roll.
      First there must be a point marked.

    How does the field bet works? Is it only for one roll or is similar to the come bet?

    As a sharpshooter! I must say, 23 rolls and then( 7 ing out), not bad for an unskilled/awkward handling/don't seem to care type of shooter, !,Cant understand why you know sooo much about this incredible game, ( yet!)( handling the most important tool of the game you seem laxadaisical)! However! handling of the Dice should be a priority!!!!!!!!!!!!Please try too improve your grip and toss, and there are many combo's sets to ref too!! Nevertheless!Not to degrade you just an observation!however! I personally want to thank you for your contribution to this marvelous game! Your presentations are excellent and your love for the game is obvious!!Thank You!

      I’ve had videos with 40+ and 5o+ rolls all with random shot. I’m skeptical that “sharpshooters” can improve on random. If shooters could control the dice and have edge over casino, they would show you the door. I prefer to show my videos with random toss for a baseline, if you believe you can do better with your toss, you’ll do that much better :)

    Very nice. One question - What the hell is a $10 table? Do you know it is 2024?

    Hey Jeremy do they have full size tables or just accommodating you? Looks like you're throwing to the left from stick left. :-)
