    The fact that Hicksy seems well and happy going into this is awesome in its self.

    Hope Hicksy hits 475! I’d love to see him have a go at 505. Good luck Graham. One of the most underrated strongman in the world. You will be known as a big deadlifter after this weekend.

      He has so much potential to hit 475 I think he could go close 500 BUT I think he needs to go a full year no shows and push in training for it, I'd love to see him do Arnold's it such a perfect show for him for sure, I'd love to see him do Elephant Bar and Hummer tyre he has potential to records on those

    Good to see Hicksy back competing. Strongman has such broad talent at the moment. Great time to be a fan.

    Hicks would do amazing at a comp like the Arnold’s. Just a rock solid static beast

    Seeing him rep 440 reminded me of Thor before he pulled 501, would be interesting to see a quick side by side.

    Would it make sense in the future to have more than one deadlifting platform setup for this comp? If there was space for two there could be faster athlete throughput on the lifting, and the focus (camera and audience) could switch to the active platform. I would think this would help reduce downtime between lifts so that the athletes aren't getting cold, plus, after the initial lifts, the jumps on each platform could be different so that athletes could migrate to whichever weight they want to lift next, e.g. second lift 425 kg (on platform 1) or 440kg (on platform 2), third lift 450 kg (on platform 1) or 465 kg (on platform 2), etc.

    Hicksy's competition record does not give an accurate portrait of just how good a strongman he is. Hope he gets the 475 and a spot on the podium.

    I always root for Hicks. I’m an engineer who is only 5’9” (and has a big nose, sorry Graham), so I identify a lot with the guy. Also, since I’m here after the comp, all I can say in response to the title of the video is “mission accomplished”

    Hicks is certainly due a good comp, maybe 2019 since the last. I feel like if he gets the moving events high up then something like the Shaw Classic or the Arnolds would be a good comp for him with how heavy they are

    475 is there, just gotta do it in competition. I hope Hicksy chooses 425 -> 475, I think the 454 might sap a bit too much energy.

    What people forget about Graham.. he is World class. For instance, relating to Tom.. not only is he #1 in Britain.. but also in the world, and the last time Hicksy was fit he Beat Tom at BSM, the year after he narrowly lost to Eddie Hall. At his best he is #2 in Brits and Top 5 in the World.

    • @adama2233
      @adama2233 2 роки тому +1

      Well yes, but Tom in 2018 wasn't the Tom we saw at WSM and BSM this year, not even close.

    • @adama2233
      @adama2233 2 роки тому

      Also Eddie was suffering from a severely damaged hip at BSM 2018 and still won the show by 7 points. It wasn't actually particularly close. Still a fantastic performance from Graham though and now better than ever.

      @@matthewwilliams4168 The world's most famous strongman judge was on hand and judged the lift. All weights were weighed live in front of the camera. The scales were controlled. Everything was under control. Eddie himself said after his record that audience support can provide 10% more strength. So everyone thinks differently there. But sports channel ESPN was on hand as well and would live broadcast Haftor's record attempt in front of millions of people. So a little stress, that was probably all. Oh funny that you think et considering eddie's record before 500kg was 465kg.
      And the heaviest training lift he did ahead of his record attempt was at 450kg. But still, he managed to lift a whopping 500kg? It feels like your arguments are running down the sand my friend.

      @@jebudylajtwejt8051 you can cry all you want but you can ask any strongman fan and they will say eddies was more impressive! But you can see why Thor would prefer to do it at a gym and not in a competition! But someone will do 505kg and Thor will be forgotten as he was only the second one to lift 500kg and o forget in powerlifting deadlift suits are banned for a reason
