Always liked his work, Firefly, Battlestar to Supernatural. My wife got a pacemaker/defib when she was 28. She wasn't feeling well, the doctor put her on a treadmill for a stress test, she flatlined during the test. She had the electrical problem, not the plumbing problem. She had it replaced twice for batteries. She had it shock her back many times, she said it felt like getting kicked in the chest by a donkey. It got her to 52 years old, she passed on 1/5/24. That device gave us all those extra years, our son and a lifetime of memories.
Very sorry for your loss. I have congestive heart failure, but insurance is making it so hard to determine whether it's genetic or situational. Day to day, it's scary.
I can't think of another platform where Mark could have told this story the way he wanted to tell it. It's pretty awesome that this was the place he felt most comfortable telling it. Says something about Michael and his crew.
Healthcare workers are doing this every single day it is almost impossible to realize how much they care for their patients. I’m so glad he is okay. Great story telling :)
I worked in a hospital years ago and I remember on patient that had a series of heart attacks in the ER. I lost count of the number of times we shocked him. He was also the only patient I saw that was awake when we shocked him. Hearing Mark's story reminded me of that. There are things I saw that I will never unsee and it messed me up, but there are also the amazing people. They are sometimes hard to remember. Thanks for sharing your story, Mark.
I am in tears listening to him talk about his kids 😭 such a great man and so glad he fought so hard love you Mark and thank you so much for having him on and letting him tell his story
"it's the fact that my eyes are open and my heart is open" nothing more true can be said Mark - so happy you are still w us !! I too had a "reminder" this past July when a routine surgery went a little sideways and my lungs collapsed while being under and almost didn't come back..... life is fragile people !! Love and appreciate it all more and complain less ❤❤
Man, hearing Mark talk about everyone in the hospital being the best of the best brought back so many memories of when I had brain surgery. It was fuckin brutal, absolutely horrific surgery. They removed part of my brain and skull, 8 inch cut up the back of my neck and head. I had to go it completely alone because it was November 2020 at the height of another Covid peak. I had one of the best neurosurgeons in the world, but the ICU was filled with unexpected patients while I was in surgery. I got stuck in the emergency area all night, then was moved up to the pediatric floor and every single person I believe I was supposed to have looking after me. They had every right to be cold, burnt out, bitter, angry, and not a single one of them was. I was just another patient and I was treated like I was royalty. These people changed my entire life, changed the way I view life. They were my family since I couldn't have mine with me. They looked out for me. They spent the night in my room with me talking about my life up to that point and how this surgery would save me. It's been over 3 years and I still think about them weekly. That gratitude will never go away.
Thank you so much Michael for giving Mark the platform to say all this. Thank you to Mark for telling everything, the worst parts, the even worse parts, all of it. I think a lot of people need to hear/know this. I JUST had a heart attack a 10 days ago, and am still in the early part of learning to change my life due to the medications I'm on, and changes to my diet. Definitely thankful to have gone to the hospital in time, not as thankful of where I am since. Definitely struggling with the fact I'm not even 40% as active as I was 11 days ago. Also, yeah, they went through my right wrist as well to put a stent in. I remember being most angry with that part because I have tendinitis in my right shoulder & holding it in that position was quite uncomfortable...... but considering the fact that things could have been much worse, a mild inconvenience for it. I also consider the staff I had to be amazing, great to hear Marks was as well.
Great episode but I have to admit this was the roughest to watch in terms of ads, between each section 2 for Rosenbaum followed by 3 from UA-cam. It was rough to even finish it.
Mark is such a sweetheart. I was devastated when I heard the news because I had a few years ago saw him at wizard con Chicago where he was telling some people about his new tattoo and I overheard it and when they were done I walked up and told him nice body work as in art and he jokingly told me about his dad bod and I was so happy I got to banter with supernaturals "the king of hell* it was the highlight of my time at Wizard con. Sadly I didn't get an autograph or picture but it was amazing all the same just to chat with him😊 I am so glad he is still with us. Much Love Mark❤
My dad had 8 or 9 heart attacks, the last we had 3 ambulances at the house, 6 paramedics and a police escort to the hospital. They rid a triple bypass a year later and we got over 20 years with him after that. He passed away 5 years ago this week due to altzhimers and dementia. Miss him so much xxxx
This is where the experience of health-care workers tells.....Mark is so lucky that this team where around from the EMT's to the nursing staff and the physicians. Fantastic and he's still with us so it just shows you! I love Mark Sheppard!
This man is the kindest guy. I've replied to his appearances before but he took the time to make my socially anxiety afflicted daughter feel like a million bucks. All it takes is a touch of kindness and this man has it in spades. So glad he is alive and healthy. All the best wishes projected to you Mark x
This was one of your best and most powerful episodes so far, Mr. Rosenbaum. And appreciation to Mark Sheppard for being so open and vulnerable and generous with his story and reflections.
I had heart surgery 15 years ago and a partial amnesia post op - and THAT, the fact that I can't recover random memory but just spotlights of the days after still haunts me! The realisation that you have no control over your mind or body nevermind how much effort you put into it, THAT kind of traumatized me -out of all things! Experiences of these events are so individual!. It is really a beautiful thing you had these wonderful people around you❤
I found myself tearing at his story. I loved him in Supernatural and when he put his msg on Instagram after it happened I was so thankful he was ok. I still am ❤
Brilliant interview and very interesting to know about that. I love Mark especially as Crowley in Supernatural, send him love from Ziggy puppy pup and myself. Much love 😊🐾💜👋👍
I'm so glad Mark made it through. He's one of my absolute favourite character actors. Thank you so much for the interview, please send him our love and best wishes!
Very moving - thank you. Any Doctor Who fans watching, might like myself, suddenly realize he played among many other notable parts 'Canton Everett Delaware III' alongside his actor father - W. Morgan Sheppard- in the episode 'The Impossible Astronaut' S6 E1 - So it now seems he is also an 'Impossibly Alive Actor'
Whatever Mark has worked on he has elevated it. I love this guy for his openness. His love for his family and how he still has so much more work in him. I can't wait to see him in whatever project he will be in.
One of my new favorite episodes. Mark's story, his perspective and attitude through the entire ordeal, just truly inspiring and moving. Thanks Mark for sharing and thanks Micheal for the podcast. 🙏🙏🙏
SO grateful that Mark was so open with us in this podcast. It is so good to have information like he is telling us. And reminds us all that really matters is the love we have, give and receive. Thank you for your podcasts always informative and uplifting. Mark thought it was depressing and I feel uplifted by knowing that your thought process CAN and WILL make a difference when fighting for your life!
Amazing interview with Mark. So glad he survived. Met him in Vancouver. Loved watching him in Supernatural and all the other shows he was in. Whenever I see his name in something I make a point of watching. Glad he has recovered. More power to you Mark ❤
I’ve been so moved by listening to this miraculous survivor that is Mark !💔💘 And i’m the more upset as i was a surgical nursing assistant at the hospital ! Fabulous Inside, Michael, thank you for allowing us to hear this story ! 🙌💙👍 🙌Ryan, 🙌Jason ♥️
Beautiful interview. When I first learned of Mark's MI, I was shocked and blessed at the same time. Blessed that he survived. As a former CVICU RN, I know how angry the heart can get. In my own opinion strictly, I believe that the reperfusion of his heart made it "angry" at first, and set off the next event. My opinion only. He has a splendid view of life. Truly inspiring
Wow! Congratulations Mark. Having met you several times at cons, your amazing roles and talents aside, I always felt you were kind and generous. Watching you with children was the best. Your father would be so impressed and proud of you. Be healthy and well, Mark. Michael, this was the most emotional and touching episode.
i had a widow maker 10% survival chance Nov 2020 Uk 1 heart attack - ambulance at my door in under 10mins and in the UK 10 mins is a miracle. they went in through my right arm - fitted 3 stents . almost 4 yrs later, still breathing . chin up Mark
Many blessings to Mark for this. As someone who lost a father to a heart attack and a mother who had a close call as well. Seeing this podcast to hear his story hit home to me. I was amazed but how close his life was almost at an end. As a fan, it would have been a huge lost on someone so great as a person and actor. I hope the Lord blesses his life with decades to come with his family. - oh and finding out W Morgan Sheppard was his dad I could totally hear it in his voice. Mark as a favor to a fan. Star Trek cameo and voice acting please lol.
I'm glad that dude is still around. Congratulations. Another fantastic show with heart and sincerity. You and Bernthal's show, the best REAL UA-cam content.
I am so happy to hear Mark Sheppard is alive and well! The reciting of this story is enthralling and very much enlightening. paraphrasing: "The more you love, the better life is." Thank you for giving me the opportunity to hear this.
Amazing interview! So glad that Mark could tell his story like this because he's such an amazing man :D So glad he's still with us to share his craft :D
Just want to again thank Michael for giving Mark the time to discuss this, and to Mark for discussing it. I posted when this came out about my own very fresh experience with a heart attack, and was struggling for a while with it. Since then, everything was going great..... till about a week & a half ago when my cardiologist said the results from a test they had me do was concerning, and he wanted me to come in for a different test.....that was supposed to be a 1 day in & out thing. I ended up in the hospital for 7 days, as 1 test, led to another, led to them eventually doing the same surgery as Mark had with the defibrulator. Like Mark, I felt that "wow, I beat this, everythings going great" mentality, only to get blindsided by the fact that after overcoming 1 part of the heart being a problem, now the other part is. I am thankful I didnt have to learn about my problem the same way Mark did, mine was simply doing some testing caught it......but it is still frustrating none the less. My recovery time I have been told is about 6 weeks, and have a bunch of restrictions as he does with magnetic type items. But, in the long term, its probably the right call. I had a choice, I could have said no, and gone on with my life....and in theory, never have to deal with the electrical part actually being a problem, but they told me with the numbers I was running, it was more probable than possible that eventually it would hit me & likely be fatal when it does. So, yeah, now I'm 0.1% machine.....and it really is because of this chat on here that I wasnt as fearful doing it. I still VERY MUCH didnt want to do it....but after Marks words about it, I at least was I think better mentally prepared for it than I would have been without seeing this discussion.
What a powerful episode! I cried while listening to Mark's story. I'm glad he's alive and well. What a gem of a human being. Loved him in Battlestar Galactica, Doom Patrol and X-Files. Stay strong Mark!
Mark is just awesome and it is absolutely amazing he survived. My kids watched my mom have a brain aneurysm back in 2016, thankfully she survived also, but he's right about the PTSD. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Protect this man at all costs! This was by far one of my favorite Inside of you podcasts I've been able to witness. Thank you for sharing your story Max. I've shared this with multiple people, and your outlook, perspective and story is inspiring. Thank you.
As a child that saw her Dad have a heart attack, look after my younger brother, get him a sitter, get the ambulance, go in the ambulance to the hospital with him. I was fine till I saw my mom. Kids need someone to talk to after such a big inncident or it does cause mental health issues xxxx
This reminds me so much of what happen with my uncle , he had blockage his body grew new art. Had a thing put in saved his life for five years gave him Him 5 more years to live
Wow... All the feels in this one. There are almost no words. Really grateful for this episode and that he was willing to tell us this. It was both fascinating and frankly terrifying to hear the whole story! And to see him so happy and healthy now is just amazing. He truly is a treasure of a man the world cannot afford to lose.
Listened to this earlier. Such an incredible, inspiring and brave story. Thank you for having him on the podcast Michael ❤ I love her chose you and your podcast to tell this remarkable story. I’m glad he is doing okay ❤ Going to go now and watch it ❤
Such a GREAT episode!! Mark's story, and what he's taken from it, is really amazing to hear. IOY is my favorite podcast! Especially when it hits high notes like this.
I have been a long turn fan. But you are 100% my favorite person in the world of supernatural. I feel so much better knowing that you are doing better. I love work and your personality. Thank you so much for sharing with us all
My Dad has a defib. His battery is due this year, year 7, and I am working on getting it redone because it's 💰💰, but I felt this. He's got many meds and it was a process, but he's here. I am grateful Mark's around to tell his story.
Thank you Mark shepherd I'm 45 just diagnosed with heart failure and listening to you and your out look on it was great its nice to see others prospective on in I've have low ejection in the 30s and my take is I'm not afraid of dying but what I'm going to miss my daughter is nearly 13 and my son in 27 and looking to start his own family. So I'm so blessed to have them and my Mrs my rock that life is a gift tomorrow is unclear I like the saying yesterday is history tomorrow's a mystery but today is a gift which is why is called a present love you all keep it up
Just a simple appreciation post Mark! Cant express how happy I am to hear your on the mend and feeling better. I absolutely LOVE and admire you more than youll ever know. You cant keep the king of Hell down for too long ❤ A true Legend ❤ sending much love, light & healing your way mark xxx
This is by far one of my most favorite podcast! I’m so glad I came across this show! Mark is amazing, so glad he pulled through! He’s looking great! Michael keep up the great work and thank you for the awesome show!
Wow. What an incredible story. What amazing determination and motivation. Thanks for sharing this story with us, Mark. So glad all the things aligned so perfectly to bring you through this.
This truly inspirational and candid interview exemplifies why this podcast is such a blessing. Moved me to my very core. Keep up the phenomenal work ❤️❤️🙏.
That was absolutely amazing. Mark is in just about all my favorite shows. I knew he had been in the hospital recently.... but I had no idea that this happened. If we had lost him, I would have been crushed. So glad you gave him a place to talk about what happened. PS. I love that Rangers shirt too!! God bless.
So glad he's still here. I love Mark and his work, and he's by all appearances a genuinely nice guy. Sounds to me like the key is: get pissed and refuse to die if possible.
Much love to Mark Sheppard! A true talent and absolute gentleman. This episode was powerhouse! Even if you aren’t familiar with Mark, this deserves to be heard. It was absolutely powerfully, incredible, and moving. I am glad Mark is still here. Much love to him and his family ❤
I just finished listening to this episode and it was so powerful! Mark is definitely lucky to be alive. I am glad that he survived. He definitely had great doctors. I am glad that he came back on the podcast. His daughter view on heaven is powerful.
This was an AMAZING interview. I’m so glad that Mark is doing so well now and that he wanted to come share his experience through your podcast. It really touched me. Thank you to both of you. 😘
Thank you Michael and your crew for making such a genuinely wonderful podcast. It’s not only informative and amusing, but it’s very much also often inspiring:)
So cool to see his level of understanding on what happened to him and how the medical team worked together to save his life. Grats to Mark and his family on his fight and success.
i've watched clips on youtube here and there, but this is the first full interview i've sat through. mark really is a great storyteller, and i'm glad he's still kicking around.
My condolences. I wish I could offer you more.
Wow, how bittersweet! I'm so glad you got those years with her, and so sorry you lost her.
My condolences.
Very sorry for your loss. I have congestive heart failure, but insurance is making it so hard to determine whether it's genetic or situational. Day to day, it's scary.
Wow! So sorry for your loss!
I can't think of another platform where Mark could have told this story the way he wanted to tell it. It's pretty awesome that this was the place he felt most comfortable telling it. Says something about Michael and his crew.
Such a powerful episode so far. I am glad that Mark survived. He is a survivor.
Well technically he didn't survive, he resurrected. It's almost - supernatural!
"I died several times" said in the most Crowley way possible 😂 love you Mark
Healthcare workers are doing this every single day it is almost impossible to realize how much they care for their patients. I’m so glad he is okay. Great story telling :)
Look up do not resuscitate orders during covid
I worked in a hospital years ago and I remember on patient that had a series of heart attacks in the ER. I lost count of the number of times we shocked him. He was also the only patient I saw that was awake when we shocked him. Hearing Mark's story reminded me of that.

"it's the fact that my eyes are open and my heart is open" nothing more true can be said Mark - so happy you are still w us !! Fellow heart attack survivor. What an awesome, honest and beautiful converstaion.
Mark is living proof that nothing ever stays dead on Supernatural! So happy to see Mark doing so well. Time for a Supernatural reboot!
Yes, very very glad Chuck let us have him around longer. But More so for his amazing family.
I also consider the staff I had to be amazing, great to hear Marks was as well.
Thank you for this. I'm a four and a half year sepsis survivor and was four hours from death. The trauma never goes away.
Mark, you’re now a healer, too. You can share a perspective & an attitude that not everyone can. And you are SO LOVED.
Love Mark and so happy hes still with us!! What a story ! WOW
his voice is good
Great episode but I have to admit this was the roughest to watch in terms of ads, between each section 2 for Rosenbaum followed by 3 from UA-cam. It was rough to even finish it.

also proud of you for losing the weight and getting healthy. I struggle losing weight without surgery as well. it's a hard thing❤❤

Between Mark and Kevin Smith, the Widowmaker isn't living up to its name. 😃
So glad he's still here to tell this story.
Thanks to medical advances
CPR was a game changer and very recent
Toni Braxton, Rosie O'Donnell, Bob Smith (trainer) - so many!

Thank you Mark, one of the best character actors in the past 20+ years. May God continue to bless you 🤟

I first knew Mark Sheppard as Crowly from SPN when my sister was obsessed with it. Glad he's still with us
It’s wonderful that Mark survived. He was sooooo lucky, just unbelievable. Glad to have him here in the world of the living.
Mark is just awesome and it is absolutely amazing he survived. My kids watched my mom have a brain aneurysm back in 2016, thankfully she survived also, but he's right about the PTSD. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
CRAZY!! Great guy, glad he's still with us 🫶🏻💪🏻
Absolutely beautiful human is mark! I'm so so glad he didn't give up, this is inspiring. Love you Mark

As a child that saw her Dad have a heart attack, look after my younger brother, get him a sitter, get the ambulance, go in the ambulance to the hospital with him. I was fine till I saw my mom. Kids need someone to talk to after such a big inncident or it does cause mental health issues xxxx
