Over the past 3 years witch of the 3 woods would you say is the highest launching. Non draw model. More spin welcome?
The Max launches the best and has a medium spin model. They have the G model for the low spin bomber club 👍👍
Hi Jay!
I would love to see Pro 245 vs JPX Forged.
Thanks, Joe
My experience is 245 is not as forgiving, slightly more compact and spins less. The Forged is remarkably consistent across the face. My dispersion map in my fitting was a joke. On order already 😂
Hi Joe, the video is already on the list to test.... Quite a few common requests for it 👍👍
@@AskGolfNut Thank you Jay!!
Comparing these to the new Srixons to be released soon will be must watch territory
As soon as I get them I will do a full review and comparison videos 👍👍
Jay… you’ve become THE man for data driven club forgiveness & performance analysis. Impressive work thank you. Like everyone waiting for your 925F vs pro245 one. I imagine they ought to fit in between the HMP and the 245pro for most but you’ll be best place to tell us which of the three models suits best for whom. If you can’t differentiate between these, no one can !!!!!
Thanks for the very kind feedback, a ton of work goes into creating the reviews so it's really nice personally to hear people give such kind feedback for the work that goes into them 👍👍
More forgiving then the 925 HMP? What about 243 and 245’s? Will you be doing a comparison with any of these?
Depending on the amount of Likes and requests for these types of videos, I'll absolutely be puttting them on the To Do Video List 👍
i am very interested in the comparison with the pros. I was fitted for 243's but think i am likely going to want more forgiveness
245 vs 925 forged. +1 from me
@@martinb4845yeah that comparison makes the most sense.
The 2 bridging irons head to head 👍👍
Really good stuff, Jay. I just signed up for the membership to your test data and it's awesome!
Really glad you are enjoying the content and the data on the website. It can help so many golfers make better decisions on what irons to buy and more importantly what set composition also 👍
Anyone interested in a i230 compare, throw a like on this comment. 🎉
Keep liking this comment guys and also posting your own requests to get them on the comparison list for future content 👍👍👍
Definitely! I’ve just asked for a comparison in a separate comment. I play the power spec in the pings so think it would be a fair comparison
I play the 919 hmp’s and looking to upgrade to some sticks designed with forgiveness AND stopping power… could these be the ones? I want to stick with Mizuno, but not good enough to play 243’s …maybe bending the forged weaker or going with forgiving forged cavity back like Maltby TS3?
People I know with a bad knee usually get through it by eating naproxen, or applying heat and cold. I know some other guy who just flares his foot and rips it with new Mizuno irons. Well done! :) but please save your knee so you can hit these against the 923s. Thanks again for the great work!
Going to get the datasets done later this week for the video you request. Got a week of all things Ping next week so hopefully I'll be able to get the filming and editing done for the video in between all the others 😊👍
Appreciate getting into the sole design etc.
This helps myself being a tiny bit steeper with softer courses. I liked the 919 forged but would dig a bit more for ME.
I like a tad more bounce and dig "protection".
Already had a fitting for these and ordered some. Thinking of Hot Metal Pro in the 4 iron. Consistency across the face is remarkable.
From discussions with different Pros and Custom Fitters, they are already getting some really good feedback from customers. Lets hope Mizuno can keep up with the inevitable surge in orders :-) 4 Iron in the HMP by the way is a great idea 👍
Currently playing 921 Forged with 4-5i in HMP 1 degree weak. Due to tendinitis, looking to switch to a new set with graphite shafts and midsize grips. I was thinking HMP until I hit the 245 which I loved. Would love to see a comparison between the Forged and 245
Absolutely that's one for the list 👍👍
Your reviews are the best. Thanks for providing this incredible resource. You're my go-to when looking at clubs. Love the heat map and the comparison chart is excellent.
Glad you like them! Appreciate it 👍
Jay, Thank You again for the level of detail you follow on your testing. Your club testing covers a broader cast of golfers. Too many other people use their perfect swing at near PGA swing speeds. Your testing shows more people what they would get. Thanks for letting us know its available to Lefties. Cheers
Great content like usual. Hoping to see some comparisons between this and the MP line.
Thanks Jay
great info as always, Glad they didn't leave out us lefty's
Great decision from Mizuno 👍
Own the JPX 923 Hot Metal Pro. When I went to look at and hit the 925 Hot Metal Pro I thought this couldn’t be the same product line. Massive heads harsh feel. The 925 Forged looks to be a truer 923 hot metal pro replacement. Like a faster forgiving 923 hot metal forged replacement but still forgiving as a 923 hot metal pro.
So I am still playing the ping i230 in a power spec. These have really caught my eye! How would you compare the 2? The pings for me are the most forgiving “players style” iron I’ve ever hit so don’t want to compromise that.
Contrary to what some people may feel my response to be on this one, honestly, if it's not broke don't fix it. The i230 irons are a great set of performing irons so if you really like them and get on with them we'll, I'd stick with them 👍
@ this is what the angel on my shoulder is saying! The devil on the other side sees something shiny and new 🤦♂️😂
These are designed for heel strikers like myself, might have to give it a go
Hi Jay, as always best detailed reviews on UA-cam!
Glad you like them! 👍👍
Great video, Jay….best in the business in my opinion. I have a set of Japanese Mizuno Pro 719, which is I believe the JPX 919. This looks like a compelling option for an update/upgrade.
I would agree, it's always difficult during a model to model update to justify changing, sometimes but commonly not. You'll be coming from a few models back to absolutely I would suggest giving the new stuff a try and see how it does compared to your current irons 👍
Great review Jay looks lovely I remember my MX20 set lovely!. Just one question how do these compare to Dynapwr forged for feel and forgiveness and Suitable for a senior 17 handicapper? Many thanks.
Hi Seve, easiest way is to direct you to my new website www.askgolfnut.com where there is all the data anyone could ever need to compare these and around 50+ other current irons I have within the database. From comparing Forgiveness Heat Maps and understanding the Advanced Flight Data that these clubs provide, to the full on Ball Flight Trajectory tool which shows how each golfer with different Swing Speeds, Attack Angles and Delivered Dynamic Loft differences will see a potential gain between one and another. Its all on there for peope to look at and decide what level/tier access they want to have 👍
@ Many thanks Jay your reviews are by far the best on u tube and I’m getting close to making a decision but feel I need to test these Mizuno as they say nothing feels like a Mizuno.
@ Hi Jay sorry to bother you again is the subscription an annual or monthly payment?
Been watching from the sidelines. This one kicked over over into Subscriber 😀
Welcome aboard :-) I do a weekly Live Stream every Monday at 7pm UK Time, always nice to have fresh sets of eyes 🙂👍
When you showed the Black Forged slide the title said Black Limited Edition, but the JPX925 Forged Black isn't a limited edition this year. It's a standard in-line model and the same price as the satin chrome.
The graphic came straight from Mizunos media launch presentation..... I'll leave it up to them to decide on if they got it right or wrong 👍 I'm just delivering the information as its given to me 👍
Brilliant content & delivery
Glad you enjoyed it 👍👍
Thank you Jay and hny!!
Happy New Year 👍👍
I’m waiting for one to go in !
I've been waiting a while too 👍😊
It would be interesting to see where Callaway new Elyte iron fits in with the JPX line. It would be a good to see a comparison with the JPX 925 Forged. I realize you would have to weaken the loft of the Elyte 7i from 29 to 30 for a better comparison. Ric
Good suggestion... I'll add it to the video list 👍
New srixons vs these is a for sure review please. I’m currently a mp59 player but was fitted for srixon zx7 mark 2 but they stopped selling them when I got fitted due to the zxi7 coming out. So now all of a sudden all the new clubs come out I need to get re fitted maybe. Shaft after trying so many was mmt 125tx which I didn’t know existed. I have x100 in my mp59’s which are still so buttery. I want that same feeling.
I'll be reviewing the NEW Srixon range soon, just got so much on with all the backed up content, not enough hours in a day and also my old bones can't cope with all this hitting.... :-) I will most probably also do the old mk2 against the new ZXi compares..... 👍
Excellent review, Jay. Off of the top of my head and based upon the heat map, this club seems to be the most forgiving for heel-side misses vis a vis toe-side that you've tested. Alas, I'm Mr. Low Toe .
Still does pretty good off of Low Toe, is it as good as say the HMP..... No but its a different club with much different dimensions 👍👍
Thanks for yet another great review. In addition to a comparison between the Forged 923 and the 925, could you also throw in the 921?
Wow going back a while there I'd have to re-run datasets for the old irons creating a bit more work so if the request gets enough likes to justify the time needed to compile the data then absolutely happy to 👍
Really looking forward to the comparison with the 923F. Are these more compact than the zxi5? Hope the knee is getting better!
The Mizuno Channel say the face is not welded. Maybe they are welding something else? I am going to have to dig a little to find out the specifics. Looking forward to trying them out!
The back is welded to the body (face and hozel) the face istelf is forged with the hozel and only the back piece is welded on after they have milled the contour ellipse into the back of the face 👍
Love these graphics you’re using!
Hope they make it easier to understand how forgiving an iron is, glad you liked them 👍
Hi Jay,
As always a top class all encompassing, all detailing review.
I have to agree with you on the look on the Forged it looks really sleek and far better without that shiny chrome toe.
Interesting numbers on the peak height and decent angle, a shame your knee injury prevents you from hitting the 5i.
Thank you as always for such a thorough review it certainly brings this set of irons into my purchase window.
Kind regards
Olly.
Hi Olly, glad you enjoyed the video and found the findings interesting. Hopefully the knee will be getting better soon. It's already been over a month and it seems as though it's getting marginally better so fingers crossed it is on the mend.... I've got loads of testing and reviewing to do 😊👍
Do you use the toe down numbers from the quad to fit for lie angle or no?
would love to see a head to head comparison of the 923 forged to the new 925 forged. Are you planning on doing that?
I was planning to do the old vs new when the Black headed Forged option is delivered. I think it's an interesting look so I'd like to have them in before doing the compare 👍
I just got fitted for new irons y'day and got these. Ive been gaming JPX 900 forged for the last 7 or 8 years. Just realized the lofts of 9 thru GW are 2-3* stronger and I'm terrified I'm gonna have to re gap my wedges. Lol.
Hi Jason, thanks for the comment. During a fitting, understanding how any purchase affects the current bag top and bottom would/should be covered so I'm surprised that this conversation wasn't had during the fitting to understand how the blending needed to happen.... 🤷👍👍
@AskGolfNut golf Galaxy in the states isn't nearly that in depth in the one hour fitting they give you. Gonna have to spend some range time with the rangefinder and figure these things out
@@jasonhiggins605 wow I'm sorry to hear it, coming from Coaching and Custom Fitting full time prior to going UA-cam full time, ensuring you give the client sufficient time especially when they are going to make a purchase is key to them not either wasting money or costing themselves more money afterwards getting things redone.... It's not the first time I've heard similar from GG 😐👍👍
Great review Jay! How would you compare forgiveness to the JPX925HL?
I have Mizuno Pro 223 Forged irons . Will see more forgiveness with these irons?
i wonder if it would be worth to upgrade from my JPX 921 forged irons to this or if I'm good enough for the MP 243's
I have on my list to compare this against the Pro 243.... I've got quite a lot of content to come out with it being golf equipment release silly season so keep an eye out for that.
Between the older 921 Forged ad trh 925, there will definitely be potential gains, yet the most important thing is to ensure you get properly fitted for them as that can have a profound effect on how well they perform for you 👍
Great content
Thanks for the kind words 👍
I've been so looking forward to this one!
Hope the knee is healing up, Jay! Do you notice any feel difference with the larger milled pocket and the stainless steel back piece of the 925 Forged? Or pretty much the same as 923 Forged? Would love to see how those two compare overall, as well.
Hi Daniel thanks for interacting as usual 👍👍 I've got the old vs new on the list of videos to do and I'll be sure to remember to cover the feel differences if any between the sets 👍
Awesome review.
Really glad you liked it 👍
I love the heat map and spider chart data, super useful. It would be cool to compare the MP 245 to the JPX 925 Forged, are they similar in forgiveness and overall performance?
I do intend on doing a comparison review between these two in the future! Best way though is to get on board with the new website www.askgolfnut.com there is all the heat map comparisons, the Launch Characteristics data differences and even the Flight Characteristic differences for your individual swing in there for you to choose what you want access to 👍👍
Darn I'm selling my 245 now and getting these today!
How do these compare to the 923 forged? Any significant changes? Great review Jay.
Glad you enjoyed the review, I've got the old vs new on the list of videos to do 😉👍
I found them more forgiving and more consistent. Size - identical blade length - but the new sole is a big difference.
Ya I have the 923 forged and they are very forgiving but can be jumpy especially in the 7 iron when you change materials. The 8-PW are pretty good.
@@floydgallagher9059 in the new JPX925 Forged I haven't seen any evidence whatsoever of any gapping issues. Everything works from a clean lie point of view, if you get anything trapped between the club face and ball then that can alter spin profiles and cause jumpers but that's the same with all equipment at all lofts 👍
I play the 923 HM and love the irons and I have to agree the 923 HM does not have that bit of chrome like the 925 HM and looks much better.
It's a subjective thing.... Not anything in any way objective. Performance is as good but with Forgiveness levels increased. It's just aesthetics I guess.... But shelf appeal is such an important thing.....👍
Would love to see them against the 245
This is also on the list of videos to do 👍
Great information as I have come to expect from your reviews! How do these compare with the PXG 0317 CB’s in regards to forgiveness and dispersion? Which feels softer at impact?
CBs feel softer throughout the entire set. The Forged 8 to GW feel basically very similar to the CBs but the Chromoly 4 to 7 have a slightly firmer feel.
Forgiveness is a good question and honestly I can't remember exactly for the CBs performed forgiveness wise without looking at the website heat maps to compare directly against. There also will be launch characteristic differences also between them both in Launch Factor, Face Speed and Face Spin Rate...
Again on the website under Silver Tier data 👍
www.askgolfnut.com
@ Thanks for the info. Please keep up the great information across multiple swing speeds, while I’m at slower swing speed side of things, I’m still playing year round here (weather permitting). Subscribing now.
Currently playing jpx 921 forged (never really vibed with them) do you think the 925 is a worthwhile upgrade? Was looking at the 243 pros but the new pre worn edge on these have me intrigued
So to give a little background the 923 was an incrimental update, nothing too large a jump, it was slightly faster and a touch more forgiving. I have a video coming soon of the 923F vs 925F which will give you an idea of the difference between them. Whatever difference just add a bit of everything from the 921 to 925 👍
I'll also have them on the new website www.askgolfnut.com for the website members to view and compare them against all the other irons 👍
@ thank you so much for the response. Look forward to the vid
I'm still playing the 900's. I'm guessing if there's a noticeable improvement over the 923's. There'd be a decent one over the 900's? I still like the 900's. But getting older and could do with a bit more 'pop'.
Also, how's the workability on them?
The 900 Forged were known for their low launch compared to the irons that came after them. Well worth going for a fitting to see how much gain you get 👍
Sound off the face is great. That was something that bothers me with HMP.
So is this any better than just buying the 925 hot metal pro ?
Yeap it seems the Pro is automatically rendered irrelevant when you can get forged feel but modern performance.
At last the top line looks acceptable❤
If you like thin top lines....... Wait until tomorrow at 2pm 😉👍👍
How does it hold up to the srixon zxi5?
Will be reviewing the ZXi irons very soon, They were late coming through 👍
Question is Jay, with that level of forgiveness, could they go in your bag over MPs?
No as the lines aren't quite as nice to look at over my blades and also the blade feeling at impact is just lovely, the Forged with its helpful tech will always have a slight detrimental effect of feel.
I have got a video dropping tomorrow afternoon at 2pm which Mizuno have been trying to keep secret.... Now that has more of a chance at sliding it's way into the bag 😉😊👍
HI Jay - Is there a JPX 925 TOUR on the cards? I have the 923 tours and love them - quite surprised that they don't seem to get a lot of love - seems like it's all "hot Metal" or MP in the conversations......were the tours a "one-off?" cheers.
Unfortunately I'm not technically allowed to answer you until tomorrow afternoon at 2pm UK Time 😉😉😉👍
The 70 mph numbers look as good or better than the JPX925 HL numbers. Is forgiveness comparable?
All the specific data differences in Launch, Spin, Face Speed and Forgiveness parameters are held at www.askgolfnut.com where the website members can view their specific tier level to learn and compare the differences between all the irons on the database 👍
can you make up more spin or higher flight with shaft options / fitting. I am 70mph swing speed and it looked like the clubs had lower spin and height than 80mph... 80mph appeared to be the optimum swing speed for this Mizuno model
Optimal is always having as much head room as possible so technically the 90mph would be the most functional and also workable flight wise of all the speeds. Unfortunately it is the same with all irons that speed is a golfers greatest allie when it comes to functional flight. This iron though for the 70mph bracket especially compared to a lot of others does really quite well. A lot of irons at 70mph aren't even functional so even though the spin is lower (which always happens to all irons and some are way lower than is) it works extremely well for the slower swinging golfer 👍
Oooooh this one is mostly satin finish. Lovely lovely. HM Pro just lost its top position on my wish list.
Test it at the same time side by side. Keep a look on the HMP launch per dynamic loft delivery during the fitting to see if it's higher than the Forged so it could very well sit as a perfect long iron replacement 😉👍👍
@@AskGolfNut Yeah, combo set ain't a bad idea at all.
Please compare 925 Hot Metal Pro to the forged for distance, decent angle and forgiveness.
It's definitely on the list of videos to do 👍
Hi. Would there be a reason why the top line on a PW (JPX Forged) is thicker than the 4i. Seems to buck the trend with the other 99.9% of irons already in existence getting thinner the higher loft you go.
It's very common in wedges to see a thicker top part of the blade, this is to raise the CG with the increase in loft as it's for spin consistency and Trajectory 👍
Callaway elyte HL iron or this one? Forgiveness?
Different classes of iron but for sure if the request gets enough likes then I'll be sure to add it to the video list 👍
@@AskGolfNut yes but i guess my point is, you have the forgiveness equal to hot metal which is game improvement so it would be cool to see it against the Elyte head to head on forgiveness basis.
What is the difference in performance between the forged and the 925 pro?
I plan to do the comparison videos and I have this one on the list 👍
Is there any data on the forgiveness of the pw-8i? They are essentially different clubs than 7-4i.
Hi Eric, by the time it's getting into the higher lifter irons the standard tech that you see in the mid to longer irons doesn't work in the same way with increased loft so always tends to bleed out around the 7 to 8 iron 👍
Is the 245 pro more forgiving than this new forged iron thanks
I've got the Pro 245 irons vs the new forged irons on the list of videos to do so make sure your subscribed and have the notification bell on so you don't miss it 👍
Does anyone know the release date in the US?
Media embargo is today exactly the same as the UK however Point At Retail will be later on in January or very early Feb, however not sure about the US but the UK Fitting accounts have had access to their DNA head update kits for a few weeks already so you may be able to get fitted for them now.... But will just have to wait a bit for delivery 👍👍
You can start ordering Jan 23
Um, did you say Pro S3?
Yes, please!
You'll have to wait until tomorrow for that one 😊
Premiere tomorrow at 2pm UK Time 👍
So this is a players distance iron? Not a game improvement iron? Where do they fit in handicap ranges for a golfer ?
Hi there, I had another comment asking a very similar thing so I'll copy and paste what I said to the other guy 😊😊
Handicap is and always has been a terrible way to select equipment to test or buy and I put this purely on the shoulders of the manufacturers being responsible for pedalling this common misconception. Handicap is a measure of score only and in no way an indicator of what golfer should use what equipment. Base your equipment choices on the needs of your personal swing. Do you need forgiveness more than say optimising Launch Factor, Face Speed or Face Spin Rates...there are always generalisations to make that higher handicap golfers need more forgiving irons but through the years of coaching and Custom Fitting I have lost count of the amount of golfers that not only buck the trend but are in total opposition to it 👍👍👍
What handicap range would you say these fit? Like 12-16?

@@AskGolfNut yes, if anything, a better indicator would be how consistently one hits the sweet spot on the club face.
How much chrome is in your kitchen Jay?
Not much as the wife was in charge of choosing colours 😂
Same as the Pro 243? Neutralize loft and I bet there is no difference.
Did you notice any jumpers with the hot face?
Absolutely not in any of the many datasets I collected with the irons. The only time they didn't go the distance I wanted either too long or short was purely down to my own fault in not delivering the club head dynamics that I was trying to do..... We are all human 😊👍
Your knee has been bugging for awhile, have you been to a Dr?
I've spoken to a health professional about the knee and although not definitive in its conclusion, it was agreed that rest was the best form of action to take.... Something very difficult in my line of work 😐👍👍
Stil looks lik a SIM2
I would agree with you when it comes to the Hot Metal side of the range but the Forged looks much better in person 👍
I just think this new range is just really clumsy looking and ugly.
Not all designs are for everyone. We all find different things nice to look at 👍
Been gaming the 919 Tours for years, and I love them so much, but I'm an older fart now, and thinking about distance and forgiveness more. Love the 245s and was about to pull the trigger, but now this........and in black. dammit Mizuno. 😉
