    Look, I know that I’m getting ready to sound stupid here, but why aren’t you using 9”, which makes each straight edge at 9” evenly?😮

      Difficult to explain in words without an illustration. I see where you might think you would just divide each edge of the fabric into three sections of 9" each. But the line that you follow to cut off the corners is the hypotenuse of a triangle. The hypotenuse of a right triangle with two 9" sides is 12.7". So you would end up with a parachute with 4 sides at 9" and 4 sizes at 12.7". Trust me, the math I gave is the easiest way to get the proper 8 sided shape.

      I never would’ve thought of the hypotenuse and having four longer edges.
      The way that you have answered me makes perfect sense to me and really helps me to understand why you did what you did.
