Max damage vs max defense free roam build in red dead online

- We are going to test max damage and max defense (tank) builds in red dead online. Both of this builds are great for free roam pvp in rdr2 online, but we will see which one is the best weapon and ability card setup for free roam fights with the griefers: tank build to get maximum protection (with defensive mode) or maximum dmg build to have more weapon damage in red dead online.

BTW - my opponent had a normal weight, so you can get even more protection if you character will have max weight
If you didn't know yet - those gun spinning tricks from the bounter hunty role give you a tiny amount of dead eye if you do them long enough.

@@bruhlol9694 Yes, but only a tiny amount, takes really long. I didn't use ability cards that give you dead eye, like Live for the Fight, so that dead eye must have come from somewhere.
As far as I cant tell, there is no differences between the scopes. Long / short magnification is the same
Another note about being attacked by a griefer and you have max defense in defensive mode: As soon as they damage you, you are free to kill them without consequences.

Griefers should NOT be able to one-shot kill somebody in Defensive mode regardless whether or not they're using any tonics

I would agree but some griefers who are trash use defensive to grief so they can end up taking more than 8 rolling block express rounds it’s too op
@@tomwxrd2781 If you're in defensive and you attack first you drop instantly out of defensive and take normal damage.
So the only way they're taking 8 rolling block rounds is if the sniper attacks them first.
Meaning the defensive player isn't the one griefing

I've been using these things since the beginning and proved that with a bit of free aim practice, you can't get griefed anymore. Good job for showing in details that how much of a difference it can make.

You can always be greifed. Shooting back is not removing greif. It just makes greifers win.
I've seen/faced a few griefers who hardly die, even when they're get shot with explosive bullets or dynamite (on the head). How comes? Because I don't trust those players at all. Even those who take many bullets to their head but don't have any damage at all.
Rdr2 has alot of auto aim. I wouldnt call it free aim necessarily

I’d recommend putting on Gun Slingers choice for your duelies instead of Winning Streak, there is better accuracy and I’m not sure damage wise, but the accuracy itself is great for reducing bloom on Mausers.

Got my first report this week with this build. It was nice. :)
Just encountered a rank +400 griefer who tried to steal my delivery wagon. He was using your exact same max defensive build and he was using explosive ammo. It was a nightmare to fend off but once you touch your destination they can’t do anything to the wagon.

I'm not only speaking for myself but also for those who I often play with: We think the cards or combinations don't work anymore (or what we're almost sure of at most: Cheaters). How can someone get 1 shot with a revolver from close range while the one that gets 1 shot use slippery, fool me once, iron lung, never without one and a level 2 or 3 tonic (I tried both, died both in the same scenario against some griefer).

Struggle with free aiming ... guess I need to practice that. Wonder what the best substitute for sharp shooter would be, even though it probably wouldn’t be as good. Love these testing vids where you can see actual results and not just someone’s opinion. Love this channel
@Dax P I can’t say I have, but haven’t been practicing all that much either. It’s really hard to free aim with the Xbox controller. I went after a legendary last night (fox) and that damn thing was so hard for me to chase down and kill. I eventually killed it but not without a long chase filled with me cussing at it the whole time.

The best thing about a max defense loadout is if a griefer or pose shoots you while you're in defensive mode, you can slaughter them over and over again and remain in defensive mode. I've forced pose's to leave the session by just using 2 saw off shotguns

@Adam and Eve Stop your crying if you grief a person in defensive mode then be prepared to get your ass kicked over and over. maybe you might think twice next time and leave the person in defensive mode to play the game the way they want without have to deal with assholes like you
@@gavfitzpatrick it doesn't make sense, why a defensive mode should be a great option to fight against people? The more damage you can take need to be the same as the less damage you inflict. That unfortunately is not the case. You're not a griefer I can tell.. and it's ok, but defensive mode is abused by a lot of griefers, it can be activated in certain cases when your opponent is red. It means you can continue to shoot him over and over without being kicked out of def mode.
@@lorywlf he's only red because he has shot at you. Look I like to do my own thing in free mode, to be left alone. If a pose gives me shit for no reason then I fight back. If I want to play PVP I go into a showdown or whatever. If I minding my own business while fishing or hunting then I don't need some asshole coming up to me and firing dynamite at me when I have a fishing rod in my hand.

We tested this last night with Carcanos using both head and body shots with gold cores and lvl 2 tonics using express ammo. The defense build killed the damage build in 3 shots every time. It took 4 shots to kill the defense build. We ran this test about 20 feet apart since the Carcano has no damage reduction over distance. Honestly, the sniper rifles need to have damage reduction over distance added in order to balance them out a bit. When you see every player in the game using the same weapons and tactics then that's a good clue that the weapon needs to be nerfed.
So defence cards are better?
@@MySipuli depends on how you look at it. Imo the defense build is a lot easier to hit as you have to walk for slow and steady, and focus fire can strafe much faster. I personally run the damage build in defensive mode against griefers

I miss the days when free roam pvp was not only long range sniper bullshit. It’s fun to snipe from time to time, but every fight ends in a sniper battle nowadays. I want to fight in all ranges. This sniper aim assist needs to go! But good video, keep it up :)

Question about ability cards, while in a posse. Should each posse member, use different ability cards? If so, could you make a video on some examples of, posse ability card load outs. My last question is, can a person use PIB while using a Carcano or Rolling Block?

Hi pvpcat. I have a stupid question (maybe). For PvP I read that a lot of players use Paint It Black as dead eye ability card. I read also that this ability card doesn't increase accuracy automatically. Accuracy is increased if the player is able enought to target propertly the enemy. The consequence is that user can shot in a more accurate way. But in my experience in short range PvP, players can kill you with a single shot in the head. I mean, when I'm covered and then I shot on a target, I click L2 + R3 + R2 at the same time, trying to target enemy's head in order to make a headshot. I don't see any "x" displayed on enemy's head because I can shot very fast. So the question is: in such a case, is paint it black really useful? Or I'm not playing in the right way? I mean, should I activate PiB before everything and then shot?
Wish I'd found this video a lot sooner. So far the only UA-camr who's actually given a direct answer is this guy 😅😅😅
Thats all fine. All good research. But I go with the power build because in my experience the kill all cure for all those defensive tonics is headshot, headshot, headshot. 😁
I had a friend soak up 16 mauser headshots on a tier 2 tonic in defensive mode without any defensive cards, im guessing that number climbs to 25 with fool me once and iron lung and tier 3s.

I have a question about maximum protection build. Can you replace [Sharp Shooter] with either [Never Without One], [Of Single Purpose] or [To Fight Another Day]? Which one of those would give you the best protection?
The problem with [Sharp Shooter] is that you have to be in the scope, that's if you're planning to shoot the griefer back. What if you just want to run away? Or does this card give a clear damage reduction over the other three options above?
