I've got two of these on my 10/22's. For me, these are great scopes for the money. I bought both of mine on Amazon for 89.99. I also ditched the supplied cheap rings, and bought rings from Vortex. Both hold zero perfectly, extremely bright, sharp, work as advertised. Zeroed both at 50 yards, the BDC works out to 100 yards. Have no complaints.
Hi Ozzie,...I bought an A17 Rimfire Bushnell Scope a while ago, and have not yet installed/used it, as I was waiting for my CZ455 LUX rifle in .22LR to arrive. The A17 Scope also comes with three turret's as your's does but the main difference is it has an AO adjustment at the front of the scope, which I like too. The power rating on my scope is 3.5-10 x 36mm. Thanks for this review.
Hi Ozzie How are you hope everything is well.. hope you’re recovering extremely well I’m a big fan of you Channel .. I have just purchased a Warwick arm 223 Live in Brisbane more than happy to borrow to you to make a review thanks buddy keep up the good work
Good review, important details and all! This is just my experience with these scopes. I just UN-installed the second one, same one as on this video. Both had basically the same defects, crooked reticles, as in snaky. The eyepiece adjustment rotate the reticle image up and down and around like there is no end to it, the parallax adjustment created shaded areas around the objective image. The eye relief becomes very, very narrow at max magnification. I got these scopes at a fair price, but ended up returning them and going back to my old vortex scopes. For half the price I really like the vortex scopes, this is in no way a compensated comment. I really love the Prostaff series from Nikon, for the price they were my favorites, too bad that they are not making those any longer! Cheers.
Great review looks like a real good scope. Do you have any experience with the vortex Crossfire II rimfire? If so in your opinion which one has the better glass the Bushnell or the vortex thank you very much
This reminds me of a scope deal that I just made with one of my brothers! He's a cattle rancher and has problems with coyotes during calving, which is coming around again very soon. He wanted to put a little more power on his 22-250 and offered me his old 3-9 Burris for 50 bucks! Never hurts to have an extra scope lying around, so made the deal... I know this old Burris... So I threw it on one of my 22-250s to see if it still worked as claimed. Three shots to sight in and a shot at 400 yards to confirm, I would say that it is still doing it's job very well. Very clear and gathers light well. Tracks accurately. I brought this up because, being a Leupold guy and "made in America", the Burris is made in the Philippines and this got my attention. I think that rifle scopes and optics in general that are made over seas are much like guitars that are made over seas... some outfits care about quality control and have employees who really care about doing a good job, while others don't! Sometimes, our budget rules the day when it comes right down to what we buy! It's appreciated that you take the time to review products that are truly worthy of serious consideration, Thanks!
Hi Ozzie, didn't quite get the model number of the scope. Was it SF3BDC? Interested in picking one up but can't see them on the net anywhere. Cheers Ozzie.
hey mate, once again another great review! I own the Bushnell Ar-22 scope with BDC an like it heaps. I have to ask as i have a ruger amercian in 17hmr where/how can i get one of these stock you have in this review please? Cheers
I was shopping for one of these just last week and could only find the 3-9x40 scope. Bushnells site did not show it and I could find no search block on their site.
Hey Ozzie. I’m looking at this scope for my ruger American. Only thing is, my ruger is a 22 magnum. Do you think it will still be fine? Even though the turrets are for 22lr and 17hmr?
I seem to not be able to make up my mind between the 2 x 7 x 33 Bushnell versus the vortex someone could help me out which one has the better Optics they're both around the same price
Help!!! Recently purchased one to install on a cz 455 varmint in 17 Hmr. Did what the manual said to do when sighting in for 17. Sight in at 25 yards and then install the 17 hmr turret on 25 yards. I am using the CCI 17 grain tnt, as it’s listed in the ammo that will work for the 17 hmr turret. It’s dead on at 25 yards set on the 25 yard mark. As soon as I go to 50 or 75 and adjust accordingly it shoots way high. Can anyone tell me what’s going on? I’ve used several different types of ammo listed in the manual. All do the same. Thanks
Paul Davies depends what match, if I'm shooting field rifle I shoot the rapid at 9 power, the offhand at 12 and then max (20) for the standing and sitting post. In metallic silhouette I keep it to where I can see the whole bank, so about 8. That being said anything will work as long as you have enough magnification to see where your shot falls. However the air rifle shooters often shoot the offhand and everything else at 40 power. Tldr: if your not hunting and only shooting target buy a 4.5-18 or a 5-20 as it gives you flexibility as a 3-9 generally gets used as a fixed 9x
Put a Leupold vx freedom on cz457. Reticule is great as are the optics. But worst elevation and windage adjustements I have ever used, felt very tight and no indication of clicks whatsoever. Put it in the drawer for a spare, refitted 3-9×32 simmons with parallax adjustment. Just as clear and good feel to adjustments.
Kamran Shakil I'm fairly sure it's to do with the amount of recoil the scope can reliable handle. As rim fire rifles have very little recoil, they don't need the tolerance capacity of a more expensive scope that is designed for larger calibre guns.. So it is cost effective if you're only going to use the scope on a. 22 etc.
Rimfire is a slower round with less range. The markings are made for specific bullet trajectory. Markings set up for a 900fps round with a 100yard range wouldn't be set up for a 2000fps round with a 500 yard range
100101 100101 Howa's are hard to beat in my opinion. I have a Mini action Varmint in 223 and the balance is excellent. For $700 though it may be hard to find one at the cost!

Thanks for reviewing a more budget friendly scope for a .22
Very good for a budget scope .

Thanks for the review. Did it fail the tracking test?
great review! would you say the glass is comparable to vortex crossfire 2 3-9x40?

Burris is made in Greeley Colorado
Did you use the added turrets ... So when you turn it to 125yards in the atchull added turrets did they work

More ROCK On music!!
Could you tell me what ammo you used to make the long shots with this setup ?
Does it have a 22 mag turret? It looked like it had a third one already on the scope already but I’m not sure if it’s for a 22 magnum or not.
I was shopping for one of these just last week and could only find the 3-9x40 scope. Bushnells site did not show it and I could find no search block on their site.
That is all I am finding as well. I would like the 3-12x40 but can only find the 3-9

What scope did you end up going with? Looking for a budget friendly option for my ruger american 22wmr

What size mounts do I need. Do you have a link for the mounts you used?

The turrets are for Max magnification. You might not have it up that high.
Hey ozzie, what's the usual magnification for general 50m target with 22lr?
Paul Davies depends what match, if I'm shooting field rifle I shoot the rapid at 9 power, the offhand at 12 and then max (20) for the standing and sitting post. What's the part number on this scope? I can't see where they still make it.
Hey ozzie could you do a review on the Leupold VX-Freedom Rimfire 3-9x40 (LE174181)
Totally agree Jake Evans. Since the demise of the VX-1 and VX-2 I would also love to see a review of the new VX-Freedom scopes.
Hi Ozzie, - why does it matter if the optic is a rimfire or centrefire ? i believe scope 's job is to locate and magify with consistency isnt it ???
Kamran Shakil I'm fairly sure it's to do with the amount of recoil the scope can reliable handle. As rim fire rifles have very little recoil, they don't need the tolerance capacity of a more expensive scope that is designed for larger calibre guns.. hi ozzie what rifle would you recommend for a first gun in a 100-700 dollar range in 223
100101 100101 Howa's are hard to beat in my opinion. I have a Mini action Varmint in 223 and the balance is excellent. For $700 though it may be hard to find one at the cost!
