My gecko shakes his tail at me EVERYTIME and will dart around. I don't get him out often because of it. He is fine after he is out though. I like that you mention they wont bond with you. Its more like they tolerate us. Mine is a good example of one that wont haha.
My gecko falls asleep to me petting him, but he has been handled all his life and knows how to hunt for food and how to eat from my hand. He is almost 2 yrs old :)
Just got a 3-4 month old crested gecko at the end of dec. The only good spot I could keep the tank is like 2 feet from my computer desk. At first he would always be hiding day and night but for the last week or two its been really active and I swear he sits on a branch and watches me and the monitors when im up late working.
I own my crestie for one year and she is absolutly fantastic. a few days ago, I need to clean her feed, she was not stressed, no sounds, no tail wiggle, just let me clean her feed 🥲 I dont deserve her
My little geck and I have reached a level where usually he comes out of hiding when I feed him, and on Sunday Night Cricket Night, he knows what's happenin' and waits expectantly by the door. 🤣 I keep him in my plant/craft room so the cats don't terrorize him, otherwise he'd probably be in the living room. Great video! 1K!
Any positive association can be a huge help for times when you HAVE to handle (if your animal is so inclined)! 1K. Also cool sweatshirt, and so close to 1,000 subs! Keep up the great content!
My male is the "fly around frantically to avoid being handled" type. It's a pain if I ever HAVE to get him out for something. Another one I have just doesn't care about anything. Ever. She just always seems confused and uninterested 😂 I got her first so she set an unrealistic expectation for me for when I finally got that psycho male haha 1k!
1K! Awesome video and I love that you do make the very important boundary for people to stop acting like cresties want to be pet and held all the time or carried around non stop lol
Yes thank you so much! Can’t wait til Lyon get your Mr. Butterworth baby! Pictures coming very soon! I appreciate your patience on all aspects!! You’re entered!!
Not sure if I have a ‘bond’ but I know I have attention and that’s good for me. I take out my 2 out of 3 cresties almost daily without any tail whipping or wagging . Good for me and them! The Green Day gecko and adult crested gecko I don’t even attempt and it makes for a healthier life for them I guess 🙂I just truly appreciate the time and effort you take to make these videos. 1k!
Thank you for telling why we shouldn't pet geckos. I got a crestie few days ago and my boyfriend whenever we have taken him out to clean up the space he'd take him close and start petting him. Gecko didnt run away or disliked him for that (as for now), but I've found it odd that he's not scared. From now on we won't do that and I hope he can associate us with something good faster :D
OK OK. But I like watching my gecko feed. Wow so many rules to keep your gecko happy. What about keeping the owner happy, that likes to feed, touching and holding them everyday. So so many rules..lol
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos you have no idea the stress I put myself in trying to be a good mom to my three geckos. Sleepless nights when they don't eat or poop. I don't know how you do for all yours. Thanks for the vlogs.
my gecko climbs onto my hand willingly and would walk from where ever she is in the tank to the entrance then jumps to my hand but that took about a year of being in my care
Sometimes when I go to pick mine up it does like one single chirp but once it's In my hand it seems fine. I've had it for a couple months and it never used to chirp but I have had it since a baby so I don't know if it just wasn't able to vocalize yet🤔
Thanks for this video! I do tong feed and I am scared to let her hunt in her cage incase she ingests the coconut husk substrate, what do you have the bottom of your tanks when you let them hunt the crickets?!

I stopped trying to handle her bc i don’t want her to associate me with something negative so now i try to spend a lot of time by her terrarium and make sure she watches me care for her home and put food in. she’s much more comfortable with me and doesn’t run away when i open the door or stick my hand in. I don’t think she’ll ever be comfortable with being handled but i’d rather not handle her than add stress and discomfort to her life. I read somewhere that some geckos just straight up don’t tolerate being handled is that true? (side note i am a first time gecko owner so no harsh judgements pls)
