- Опубліковано 14 сер 2020
- Over the years I’ve featured just about every type of bass guitar imaginable in my UA-cam videos - I have some amazing instruments and I’m lucky to have them, but which one is my fave?
I get a ton of questions asking about the different basses that I play, and so I decided it was high time I made a new video showing you my collection to date.
And so, for your pleasure, I present some of my all-time favourite bass guitars!
As always, see you in the shed…
Scott :)

I remember the days when you only played the overwater in you’re vids in a bedroom studio
True That...
He's come a long way (on media sites wise) since those early videos that I also watched & it's great to see him doing so well...
In light of the still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in the world...
All The Best...
.....

Scott was also like that when he started out on UA-cam as he always strived to put up as much educational content up on UA-cam as he could... Then after a year's of doing this he decided to get his own educational website up & running outwith UA-cam & as he has always said " It's All about The Bass "
Apart from enjoying & admiring the way he went about constructing his UA-cam Videos/which was his early attempt of everything you'll see on UA-cam & then his Website, I've always liked Scott for his honesty & that's a rare commodity on UA-cam & then also on his Own Official Website...
No airs or graces, just getting down to putting out great overall content for intermediate, beginner & advanced player's, all the while trying different approaches, but above all making it Educational in ways that it is easy for beginners to get to grips with but above making it Enjoyable also... As what's the point of playing an instrument if your not having fun also...
All The Best... And keep on playing as we need the youth of today to keep on learning & playing & then passing this on to the next generation so that these instruments & music in general doesn't wither away into nothing worth investing one's time in...
As that's what i've always strived to do when replying to comments here on UA-cam as it's easy to run someone down but that's not my style & even if said person is playing in any genres I'm not that keen on or I find they are being rude, I still try to give them positive feedback because as long as they are playing I can take a few blows for the team & it's overall goal of taking music & learning instruments forward, rather than just sit back watch it's demise...
.....
I remember those times haha 😄
I knew this channel would be BIG
That fender relic p bass will always be my favourite
Yeah too bad he changed that neck. That bass vibes so hard!
Genecarlo Show to be fair moolon does make the best replicas of vintage fenders around so it’s not exactly a huge change.
Sounds awesome, I just think the distressing/relic-ing thing is silly
Bro fender j basses are the best and will be
I fell in love with the fretless F Bass... like in love, love.
I did too it's great
Oh yeah! Love me some Fbass! Every instrument is so well built and the AC5 is the finest frettless ever made!
Yep, that'd be the one for me....
Love that Fender P- Bass .
Fodera on Boutique End of things. FBass are wicked nice as well. I just love them. Like Box Crayons. Depends on the Color of Sound you choose. Nice Video.
"Here is this bass by Sire, I don't know what it does"
ok
I would take the Stenback just to never have to unscrew the back panel ever again.
Jon letts makes pretty good basses with that feature, doesn’t break the bank either
@@evanmiller9316 thanks for the info
@@simongrant1015 gotcha
Can’t believe it’s been 4 years since the first video came out. I finally got a bass of my own, and you’ve been a really big inspiration and have showed me how badass playing a bass really is. Keep up your hard work I love your videos 👍🏼👌🏼
I would have to go with the "Fodera Matt Garrison" bass. That is the sweetest sounding bass by far!! I can only imagine how hard you kicked yourself after selling that bass. Beautiful Bass!
Sounds almost like a classical guitar
Seriously, what a sound! This bass has character for sure
Matt Garrison has to be the one
I think the Ken Smith might be the one I'd smuggle out under my jacket.
@Cédrik Coutu Lol, good point!
For me, its a tough call between Ken Smith, Matt garrison and f-bass fretless.. I think if I had to choose one it would be the Ken Smith, what a fenomenally cool bass!
The Ken Smith. I have two of them and they are the best basses I've every played, hands down.
I've always loved your two-tone F Bass. Such a great sound. It looks awesome and seems easy to maneuver on the fretboard. That's my favorite bass you own. Cheers!
I fell in love with the tone on that Matt Garrison Fodera when I watched the "I got it back" video. I'm seeing bass after bass that I would love to have, but the Fodera is the one I would pick. That first F bass is a close second.
Hi Scott, my favourite is the BNF F-bass. Sounds amazing.
That BNF has one of the most ergonomic bodies I've ever seen. I wouldn't want a fretless, but that's a beautiful bass.
That Fodera bass stood out, the sound was beautiful! (and the little jazzy bit you played on it helped!) Very nice!
Oh man, that FBass is fantastic. When you played, i melted. And she is beautiful. The FBass is my favorite and then the custom red and white Fender P bass. Keep safe Scott!
Having to choose one, of course the Overwater signature Jazz 33" scale, followed by the Overwater Signature 5 strings with the High C, but I love your taste choosing instruments Scott.
Ken Smith all the way for me! That is my dream bass right there. Wanted a Ken Smith ever since I saw Massive Attack live in 1998.
I was always blown away by the 59 custom shop p bass. It's just the sound of it its really beefy and nice, the looks the fact that is weared off its a treat for me, and in the hands of Scott it really sings.
Which bass do you like the most? “Yes”
The Ken Smith would have to be the one ☝🏾 it’s a classic with amazing tone
I think for me the Ken Smith bass stands above the rest of the pack, looks and sounds stellar
I really enjoyed the look and sound of the Stenback bass! Thank you so much for all of your amazing content! 🤗
Hi there. Fledgling bassist here. Thank you so much for all of the great content. Very helpful and I especially appreciate your clean fingernails (other beginners utilizing UA-cam instructional videos understand ha).
Your collection is wonderful and quite eclectic.. If I could run off with one, that Marcus Miller sounds and looks gorgeous. I have to go with that. Plus, the kid in me loves all of the knobs, even if I don’t know what they do exactly.
My bass is beginner friendly, only two knobs. I picked up a used Johnson [by AXL] at my local guitar shop. I’m quite happy with its rich sound, but I’m definitely looking into Sire for my next addition. 😊
"Shh don't tell my wife" is so accurate HAHAHAHA
What is in the studio, stays in the studio😜
I only ever buy blue Basses ;)
I've hidden basses behind furniture; kept them at others; denied the bass was mine; and denied the bass was new ( "You stupid woman!")
I did not finish what i had to say your blessed with a gift i only.wish i had 1%of of your a busy person thank you for your time a sire bass my DREAM
No it isn't. It's an over-used cliche.
Got yourself a new SBL student, Scott finally committed to being with thebSBL family, cant waitnto dig deep.
I LOVE that your "P-Bass of Doom" has a switched out neck. Fender Mix n' Match necks are the quickest homebrew alchemy there is. 🙂
I'd absolutely LOVE that fretless F bass.. I'm a total fretless guy, love the Pino sound and Jaco is one of my faves, and that bass was just a thing of beauty.
That fretless F-bass tho. Good Lord.
After that it would have to be the Matt Garrison.
You deserve such a sweet collection - you’ve obviously spent years learning to play them so well - and now you’re passing on that knowledge to others. Respect.
Ohhh dude, this Ken Smith would be my choice! Definitely.
I remember that very last bass used to be the intro for your videos. Such a good sound, especially in that jam session's song. This was AWESOME!!!
That BNF Fretless is one of the most stunning instruments I've ever seen, so it'd be the one I'd choose, but it was a difficult question you asked there. Just a killin' bass collection all round
Scott needs to do a vid were he plays all his basses in 5 minutes
At the same time!
That fretless f bass or the matt garrison, such beauties and they sound extremely good
Very beautiful music at the end... I'd like to listen more of that.
I'm slowly working my way into 5 strings, and your signature sounds absolutely heavenly.
I shall slap the like button?
*flashback*
lol pffff.... not epicccc!
It‘s definitively the Ken Smith...❤️
I've always loved your Signature bass, such a beautiful instrument.
Like the Ken Smith, especially the frog, but probably my favorite is the Overwater signature 5 - such a sweet tone!
The Marcus Miller just looks and sounds so smooth.
You’ve ruined my life - I’m hopelessly addicted (in a good way) to bass playing - lol - member of SBL - awesome - thank you for all you do for us bass players!
BTW - the fender p bass
The fretless BNF or the Matt Garrison signature I’d choose
I'm with you on the BNF Ben - look gorgeous and sounds stunning
Top show as always Scott. I'd have the Fbass fretless, sounds amazing. Stay safe everyone.
When I first saw your video about getting your hands back on that Fodera, I've wanted one like it ever since. It looks and sounds absolutely stunning.
I appreciate your modesty Scott.......but I just believe you have like 200 basses.
I’ll take any of the p basses
The one i like most is that ken smith vinny fodera thing. When i saw that on your channel i fell in love, love the little puppets on the tuning pegs too
I couldn't do what you do. Thank you for your passion and work
i wish everyone can pick a bass that they will be playing hahhaha
Checkmate
Heads up that is a top of the line Sire V10 in this video. "cheap" is subjective. That one is over $1000
The jewel of the crown without doubt is the Ken Smith and Fodera 80’s Bass, cheers Scott from México City
The Sire is actually my favorite of those. That’s the one I want. But they are all just amazing!!
"without further ado, let's do this." -> 20 second cut scene...
love it, not got a bass yet but love the content - epic Scott, well done
The Fodera; the story behind it and it sounds great even through a smart phone speaker! Beautiful, punch without pain, silky smooth!
Ken Smith Bass with that headstock and the wood and the shape and the tone!!! After that the Fodera - what a piece of sound art!!!
I've loved that Stenback ever since the first time you showed it off.
Tough call, that 5 string P is a thunder god bass, the Overwater Jazz reminds me of my favorite Hamer Cruise (I'm only 5'7" so slightly smaller jazz really works for me LOL) ..but that Sire is just stunning! For only 1 would go with Overwater jazz, it may be your signature, but is just so me!
I would LOVE a bass from Overwater. Beautiful look and sound, and most importantly the people of Overwater just seem super passionate and talented. You can always tell an instrument made with love!
the Fodera is definitely my favourite! Such a pure, precise, 'boutique' sound.
Been waiting a long time for this good Sir🙂🙂🙂 Who in their right mind dislikes this sweet stuff?
Awesome awesome awesome
I love the Overwater Scott Devine Jazzbass since the first video a saw here on youtube 😍 if there would be any chance to play and test it anywhere here in Germany: a dream would come true! Keep on doing your thing Scott, you are awesome and inspiring 💪
Appreciate the walk thru. Recently heard a recording using an F Bass, probably DI. Awesome sound plus your comments are a convincing endorsement.
I love the 33” scale Overwater jazz. sounds great ;)
Finally the post we all have waited for !!
Cool video Scott!! The video of the bass of doom is one of my favorite videos/sound s ever!!! BUT... you didn't mention the Olinto... I don't know if I can mention that one but I have to.. It's my dream bass!! Anyways cool stuff!!
The one you silly 🙃 sold that beautiful sounding fodera matt garrison signature When you played it I could not stop playing this video just such a beautiful lovely 😊 sound I see why you went looking for it now I’m looking for it! That’s my favorite 🤩 of those collections you own 🤙
I would definitely pick that Matt Garrison signature, it looks and sounds gorgeoussss
I do love your fodera bass. The shape is absolutely beautiful!
For me it would be the F-Bass VF4-PJ, looks and sounds great to my eyes and ears.
that stenback sounds amazing. especially whatever setting you're on at 7:10
Beautiful collection. The Moollon with the Fender neck is really cool.
Man I really like the fretted fbass, its absolutely awesome
Your signature Jazz is the one I would most want, simply because of all the videos I’ve watched with that fantastic, iconic, intro ..
The Ken Smith. I love the frog as a tuner button. Too cool.
For the looks I like those 'natural' brown wooden F-bass and Ken Smith.
For whatever reason, that white Stenback bass really spoke to me. And yeah, I really dig your P Bass of Doom! Fun video. :)
I would definitely go with the Ken Smith, the tone is fantastic 😍
The Overwater 33” has such a great look and sound.
I love the look and sound of that relic p bass. A precision with flats is my desert island bass. Gets me through a gig 9/10 times..
Without a 2nd thought I always wanted a 80s Ken Smith Bass. I got to play one at the Bass Exchange back in the 90s an it was love at first pluck. I'll never forget it. it was a BSR4
Love the Stenback tone. Don’t mind the Ken Smith too. Nice collection! ♥️🎶😍
The vintage Fbass is cool, sounds nice. I like the AV bass as well....
That Fodera is so damn smooth. The F Basses are amazing as well holy shit
I've had lust for that Stenback since you premiered that video!
Don't leave that one unattended. 😉
Was hoping for this video would come out 😊
Ufff great collection! The Jazz Basses are great! That Sire is 🔥
I would defenitly go for the fodera! Those basses are out of this world. With these humbucker kind of pick ups that are sort of between split and singles so multifunctional love it
god i would LOVE to get my hands on that marcus miller sire quilt top. that thing is gorgeous!!!!
Thanks for telling us about Sire. That just might be my step up from my absolute beginner Squier.
All of these basses are great, but now I'm in love with the Fodera Matt Garrison 5 strings. Really nice look and sound.
I am digging the Stenback. always have been partial to that style of bass and tune. Thank you
The fender relic p bass is just gorgeous. That would be my pick. Great video as always.
The Sire bass is the one I would like to have. I play a huge variety of music and my Ibanez BTB 1405 is a very versatile bass but the Sire speaks to me lol. You Rock Bro!!
Thanks. That was a cool video. I tried to pick just one bass to be 'my instrument', but, you gotta have a few. My top choices are Ibanez Portamento and NS CR4.
I would have that gorgeous BNF Fretless 4 string at 5:36, i was looking to soon get an Ibanez SRF700 Portamento, but that BNF is breathtaking.
They all sound awesome, but that Stenback is killer. My favorite tone of yours.
Wow man!! That’ s a ‘Collection’
Wonderful basses.
I would love to truy the Fodera.
The relic Fender is still "it" for me. Love your videos - keep them coming! :-)
F bass fretted, Ken Smith and Fender Precision Custom shop are my favorite 👍
