    A few days ago I was explaining to a young person how the many singers who in recent years do Hallelujah, for example on the various singing shows, and the famous ones who do the song, they all got their introduction to the song from Jeff's version, more so than Leonard Cohen's original version, and I remembered how I first heard the song when I saw Jeff perform as the opening act for another artist, and at that time I had only heard Last Goodbye, and other than that I knew nothing of Jeff's music, and I had come to the show to see the headliner, so imagine how Jeff's performance was incredible, breathtaking, hearing Hallelujah and his other songs live for the first time was a special, radical experience, one unlike any other musical experience I've had!! Thank you for this video!

    @MojoPin1983, you should consider uploading a video containing segments where Myles Kennedy has spoken about Jeff and the influence he has had on him. There are a number of interviews I am aware of where he attributes many of his early vocal proclivities and musical sensibilities to the JB catalogue. I hold Myles in high esteem musically; he is one of the few living rock musicians who is a bona fide powerhouse both vocally and with the guitar, so perhaps his testimonies can be of much value to your video archive.

    doesn't look like a real newspaper clipping....the date says May 29, 1997 -- but didn't his body wash up until 3/4 days later at the end of Beale St?

      @MorningThief_ Good eye. I caught that, too. Jeff’s body was discovered on June 4th, at the foot of Beale St, as you mentioned.

    okay i have a genuine question for you. i obviously can tell you love jeff and his music, and so do i, but as a christian how do you come to terms with his fate? i mean i recall jeff saying he didn’t believe in man’s organization of god, and that leads me to believe he didn’t worship jesus. and if he didn’t, well..:/ that would mean he’s separated from god, meaning in hell. and it hurts knowing that. god isn’t going to force jeff into his presence against his will. i’m just wondering what your thoughts are on this.

    • @MojoPin1983
      @MojoPin1983  4 місяці тому

      @awkwardomelette7316 Those are good questions that I have thought about a lot. When Jeff said that he didn’t believe in *man’s* organization of God, I’ve often wondered what he meant by that, as that is a pretty ambiguous statement. Was he referring to the Abrahamic faiths, the institution of the Church, or did he mean charlatan televangelists?
      For example, Eternal Life was partially inspired by the latter, however, I believe Jeff’s words from that MuchMusic interview excerpt that you mentioned were, “I don’t wholly trust in…” which would seem to indicate something closer to the Christian church, and perhaps examples of hypocrisy therein. Another explanation could that he was skeptical of the divinely inspired authorship of the Bible (i.e. Why should we trust what infallible men wrote about God in the Scriptures?).
      With respect to the whereabouts of Jeff’s soul, it’s impossible for us to know. Obviously, I hope that he is currently with Jesus, however, as you alluded to, if he didn’t accept Jesus as his Lord and Saviour - and there is no indication that he did - then it would seem that he isn’t with the Lord, though, I will make no absolute pronouncements about such things, as I’m not God, and therefore I don’t have perfect knowledge. I would like to think that Jeff had a personal relationship with Jesus, even if that wasn’t publicly expressed, but only God knows his heart and He will judge him accordingly.
      We won’t know the answer until we die.

      @@MojoPin1983 yeah that’s true. i recall him also saying he didn’t believe in original sin. but ur right. only him and god know what his fate truly was. i just hate thinking he never knew jesus and he’s separated from god right now. but i do know that god is just and isn’t going to be unfair to him. i pray he’s okay. whenever i hear him curse it always irks me. like if he didn’t see a problem with cursing then wouldn’t that suggest his eternal destination? like you said we will never know, unless we get to ask god ourselves. you know that makes me wonder another thing. jeff’s music is pretty secular. i don’t wanna say worldly or sinful necessarily, i mean it’s not god honoring or glorifying jesus christ, but is it wrong to enjoy it as much as i do? like does music have to be god honoring? i mean it’s not ANTI god, but it’s not necessarily PRO god either.

      @@awkwardomelette7316 “Like if he didn’t see a problem with cursing then wouldn’t that suggest his eternal destination?”
      The bigger implication of that is if Jeff didn’t recognize and acknowledge his multitude of sins - swearing and otherwise - and seek forgiveness from Jesus, then that would suggest that he was still living in unrepentant sin, which is up to God to judge.
      With respect to Jeff’s music - and secular music in general - here is a helpful guideline to follow: ua-cam.com/users/shortsrN9b0RBTAhA

    Another Jeff Buckley movie got canceled again, do you happen to know why? @MojoPin1983

    • @MojoPin1983
      @MojoPin1983  5 місяців тому +11

      @atlas4497 I’m not sure what the status of the biopic is. Some sources have said that it was cancelled, while others have suggested that it has resumed production, if I’m not mistaken. I couldn’t tell you what the truth is. I’m not really bothered, either way, however. I’m much more interested in the upcoming documentary that Jeff’s mom is producing, which is supposed to be released in 2024.

      @@MojoPin1983Knowing how they presented Freddie inaccurate( in the moive it felt like a teenager was trapped in Freddie's body without any depth to him), I think Jeff's could have been even cringier, its just my take because whenever Jeff seemed uncomfortable he felt cringey to me, and cant even imagine what the movie would look like. Maybe something more tailored to teen girls...

      tbh i would be relieved if the movie got cancelled. I'm not even sure why... tbh i don't think Jeff's biography makes for an especially exciting biopic, so they would have to invent a lot of drama for it to become interesting to a broader audience. Not saying that Jeff isn't an interesting character (i love reading about his life and his love for music and all that), but what would a biopic be about? His (non-existent) relationship with his father? I doubt they would be able to catch his struggling with the second album and do it justice... An overdramatized movie about a pretty boy with an angelic voice who died too young. Don't need that.
