I’m so tired of being 14 and having no help or guidance to maintain my hair but im tryna learn to box braid really good to were it’ll last longer than a week . I did my box braids twice and they came out good but they only lasted for a week or two😑 which was stressful because I spent days on my hair just for it to last a week😒 and so the first 2 were medium box braids but this time I’m gonna try jumbo because of the fact it may be easier to grip and faster to go through I’m not sure I really don’t know 😖 But imma try

I liked when my rubber bands popped (felt like the elastic helped me install and would do less damage to my hair popped). My hair is long and natural so maybe that makes a difference.
Pollyanna Light...when mines popped like that braid slipped right off....my hair is long but it’s permed & very thick so I guess it varies 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ I was in Texas when I got it done but I’m from Louisiana and people where I’m from only braid it into your real hair so when she used rubber bands I was so confused but it helps the stylist I guess get a neater and better grip

The rubber band secures it but they do slip over time if you pull them up and down alot.

Yes it doesnt stay in. The gel alone with cause slipping within a week and the gel also will cause flakes
@@ghchic2568 plus they aren't meant to stay in past that of two weeks. Thats why I like this style. Take down and do over.

Patience Smith-Davis African Americans grow all kinds of hair types. If you notice, the girl in the video doesn’t have an Afro. Natural hair, if it’s an Afro, can be blown out safely. Do your research.
Ignorant comment...girls with long hair add hair all the time; It's not for lack of lovely locks, but simply because it increases the potential for different hairstyles / colors / aesthetics tenfold.
Secondly, trimming ends is not going to suddenly make our hair long. We have the most fragile strands, so protective styles like this actually assist way more in maintaining length than trims do, since our natural hair requires no manipulation in these styles and therefore less breakage.

Yes I like the rubber band method better it's not like how with extensions your hair come out. Even though I don't use rubber bands in my hair but the black ones seem to slip out and don't pull my hair out.
