The best decision I ever made was to go Vegan. I went Vegan at the age of 50, which was 7 years ago. Every day, I wish I had been Vegan sooner. I wish I had been born and raised Vegan.
I went vegan at 25, but I still look back sometimes & can’t believe that I used to eat animals & their secretions. We don’t need to be hard on ourselves though. Society did us a huge injustice with it’s appalling extent of propaganda & lack of education about what’s really been going on.
@@cryco472 For 3.2 million years humans evolved eating meat. For 2.5 million years man has been classified as "Hyper-Carnivore", "Super-Carnivore", and "Apex Predators". I've been a vegan for many years. I love it and love watching it grow. I don't go out to eat allot during to most of the restaurants in the U.S. don't offer a vegan option. Thank Veganuary for your persistence!
I uh… I definitely cried at the end there. Seeing everyone involved with this, it just pulls at my heartstrings. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is anti-animals & the planet. Where I live in midwestern small town US, restaurants don’t offer a single vegan option. But then I see this & I remember that we’re making progress & gaining momentum. I can feel us getting closer to the days when children will read about factory farming in history books, appalled that most of society supported it and ate animals. We got this, we really do. I’m so honored to be in this fight with you guys. Nothing will stop this movement.
Home cooked food wins out for health anyways. Although sometimes it all starts with a single choice. Progress in your hometown started with you. It will continue. I have faith. I wish you all the best.
I was in tears at the end also . I am british but live in spain in the mountains ,i have to go 25 km if i want a Coffee in a bar that has soy milk , and 130 km if i want to go to a vegan restaurant. I, too, live in a vegan desert in Queensland, Australia. Public barbecues are everywhere and the culture is strongly meat centric. Chains like McDonalds and KFC haven’t bothered with vegan options in Australia unlike in Europe. Major brand supermarkets have vegan options but they are always being pulled or hidden in the meat fridge. The target is to get meateaters to consider having an alternative occasionally. Vegans are openly mocked It is nice seeing these people and their success but to some extent they can live in an echo chamber talking about a vegan world. It is removed from reality here.

I went vegan a year and a half ago. And I’ve helped 6 people do the same. And many more I’ve helped and am actively helping to work toward it. It’s wonderful. I eat whole plants only too. Changed my life forever. No more yo yo dieting.
I’m jealous lol I haven’t had the opportunity to help anyone go vegan, despite having casual conversations about it & even making them vegan food from time to time. I think it’s because I’m surrounded by people who do not have a growth mindset, which in & of itself is a very undesirable trait. If I had more agency over the situation I’d only be around people with a desire to keep learning & growing.
@@cryco472 I think you are spot on. It’s hard to know what we know now about the health of only eating whole plants, not only for our bodies, but for all beings and the earth itself, and to be around people who are blind to it. And not only blind, they don’t want to be informed about it. Trust me I’ve had many many people throw walls up super quickly. I’ve heard it said it’s harder for people to change their diet than to change their religion. I don’t think there’s a more physically intimate experience in this life than eating. Since the food literally becomes our body. I will say, the 6 people who I have helped, I definitely did not start out with the ethical purpose of protecting animals. And maybe because that’s how I started. A friend of mine wrote a beautiful book about eating whole and how it can change everything. I was having a health issue that scared me. So as I was reading her book and the tears were flowing, I started to notice she was recommending no animal products, and even tho I was in a very humble state and open to change, my first thought was, “she’s saying no meat or dairy?! Oh I’m not gonna do that!” Haha. I still clearly remember this. But within a few more days I seamlessly committed to it. At first I didn’t want to hear about the ethicality of it. But eventually I did. And I’m so glad I am now very much ethically based in my decision to be vegan, not just for health. I am a man of faith, and I know that God loves all creation, and is not pleased with the current situation of animal agriculture and their exploitation. But people just don’t want to know. My friend who wrote the book, we talk about it a lot. “People just aren’t ready yet, for the most part, they don’t want to hear it.” I have hosted 4 gatherings at my home, and I tell people it’s about how to eat more whole. Depending on the group I won’t get to deep in the no animal products part, unless I feel that they are somewhat ready. Some are :) most aren’t :(. I love what Ed Winters is doing. I really wonder how many people find him and listen to him and realize the importance of being vegan and change from his approach? Or if it’s just people who are already vegan who find him and he helps strengthen our position ? I’m sure theirs both. But I personally have found that most people are 1st interested in weight loss above all else. So I start there. My friends name who wrote the book is Kelsi Vazquez. She’s an amazing young mother of three young boys. Her husband is not even fully plant based after 6 years that she has been, and her kids too (which he is grateful for because of their health), but he is very supportive. Her book is what helped me, and she mentored me too. The book is on Amazon, called, “Eat Whole, Be Whole.” She revised the book 6 months ago, and she invited me to write an introductory review :). So you can get that if you want and ready my full story. But also, it’s a fabulous tool to help people get started. What and where to buy food, and all sorts of tips and tricks, and of course, so many delicious recipes :) she doesn’t even make hardly any money, it’s really a labor of love for both of us :)
It can be a long, arduous process! My partner of a year and a half ate a lot of meat when we started dating which was honestly very hard on me -- but I never wanted to push my beliefs on him, instead I educated him slowly and kindly. And now he is fully pescatarian and almost entirely plant-based at home (will sometimes eat dairy, eggs, fish when eating out). Maybe one day he'll be fully vegan, maybe not, but reductionism is hugely important too even if he doesn't ever go 100%@@cryco472

This is GREAT!!! I began the vegan journey "cold turkey" the last Sunday of Nov. 2020. Slightly 'backslid' about 6 weeks later. However, no animal by-prooducts per se, but too much eating processed foods. A little struggle trying to get back on track.
Felicitaciones!!! Gran iniciativa por la vida, amor, respecto hacia los Animales, y hacia la salud de las personas. Hacia una alimentación sana y libre de dolor, gracias!
Thanks for this video. I am 99% vegan based on my shopping bill. But I have pizza at parties and deserts at parties. I cook vegan food and desserts. But I am tempted by those situations when its in front of me. I would never eat a meat platter but when its a chocolate cake at the staff party….
I have to admit, Veganuary wasn't even a passing thought for me, certainly couldnt pinpoint when I first heard the term. I found Veganism though a simple effort to understand what I eat, purely for health reasons. I'm a part of your typical working class, mainly living on or slightly above the bread line, and I think more can be done to show others that Veganism is more than simply a healthy ecological choice, it can be a ruddy cheap one as well if you're a bit brave and don't mind dabbling a bit deeper in the kitchen.
I started only eating canned/frozen/fresh veggies; fresh fruit; grains; certain nuts (no peanuts, which hurt my stomach); oats; rice; etc. Then so much "vegan" processed foods started popping up a lot more. 😢 Are these truly healthy? Most likely not, but plenty options 🤷🏾♀️👍🏾
I think for a lot a folks, getting away from the ‘vegan’ moniker, to using ‘plant based’ is helping calm down things. Plus you can be a very unhealthy vegan but not plant based.
I've been vegetarian for 40 years, close to Vegan for 3 or 4. In the USA, where I live, it's either unheard of (YES!) or met with total hostility. Yet, Gluten-Free is close to worshipped....I'm actually surprised there are not chuches! We do have some vegan restaurants but only in large cities. It's as if we need to only eat with other vegans/vegetarians....the shame is so big. Many/most restaurants have NOTHING for us to eat....as in "You could have a salad" And guess what. the salad will often have bacon or anchovy dressing.
I like the idea because I like critters and don't want them to suffer. I don't think humans will be stopping or slowing any ice ages. Help people deal with digestive issues, make it sound healthy, and DON'T BE PREACHY or too hippy-ish and you'll have something.
Im doing full time climate research. All the science is pointing to massive human made climate change that will takes centuries or millenia to recover from.
More competition in this sector plus many vegans see these as transitional options and gravitate to healthier plant based options the longer they are vegan. These appeal to the ‘meat-free Monday’ crowd and with no ethical grounding behind that people swiftly backslide to their old habits.
Vegans seem to be isolated only in the UK. Very sad, no science and loosing market share despite all their efforts to low cabs and carnivore nutrition strategy which is more optimal for longetivity and healthspan

Thanks for this video. I am 99% vegan based on my shopping bill. But I have pizza at parties and deserts at parties. I cook vegan food and desserts. But I am tempted by those situations when its in front of me. I would never eat a meat platter but when its a chocolate cake at the staff party….
Thank you for all you do.
yay
There Has to be a Huge Movement.

Could you add subtitles? Clicking CC didn't work for this video. Thanks
Clicking "CC" turns on English subtitles now 😊
Can we buy the T-shirt in Australia?
I started only eating canned/frozen/fresh veggies; fresh fruit; grains; certain nuts (no peanuts, which hurt my stomach); oats; rice; etc. Then so much "vegan" processed foods started popping up a lot more. 😢
Are these truly healthy? Most likely not, but plenty options 🤷🏾♀️👍🏾
I think for a lot a folks, getting away from the ‘vegan’ moniker, to using ‘plant based’ is helping calm down things. Plus you can be a very unhealthy vegan but not plant based.
i am vegan and i have never heard of this but i dont live in uk
Veganury it is the new Future2023/24/25....
This must be translated to other languages, Russian, Polish, Chinese, Turkish.
It has English subtitles that can be auto-translated into other languages 😊
Where can we get a Veganuary tee shirt?
👍♥️
Check out Vegan musician Dave Tommo with latest tune ''Ignore Alien Orders''x
I've been vegetarian for 40 years, close to Vegan for 3 or 4. In the USA, where I live, it's either unheard of (YES!) or met with total hostility. Yet, Gluten-Free is close to worshipped....I'm actually surprised there are not chuches! We do have some vegan restaurants but only in large cities. It's as if we need to only eat with other vegans/vegetarians....the shame is so big. Many/most restaurants have NOTHING for us to eat....as in "You could have a salad" And guess what. the salad will often have bacon or anchovy dressing.
I want participate

I like the idea because I like critters and don't want them to suffer. I don't think humans will be stopping or slowing any ice ages. Help people deal with digestive issues, make it sound healthy, and DON'T BE PREACHY or too hippy-ish and you'll have something.
Im doing full time climate research. All the science is pointing to massive human made climate change that will takes centuries or millenia to recover from.
Excellent I can’t understand why American 🇺🇸 is so far behind and Australia 🇦🇺
Just like Beyond Meat and Quorn in Europe, UPF food is loosing steam
Well. Don't need these to be vegan anyway.
More competition in this sector plus many vegans see these as transitional options and gravitate to healthier plant based options the longer they are vegan. These appeal to the ‘meat-free Monday’ crowd and with no ethical grounding behind that people swiftly backslide to their old habits.
Shame on you Vatican City.
Vegans seem to be isolated only in the UK. Very sad, no science and loosing market share despite all their efforts to low cabs and carnivore nutrition strategy which is more optimal for longetivity and healthspan
Any research showing this?
