Great cinematography. It's like watching a Hollywood movie filmed in Europe. Iloilo City is really one of a kind. Iloilo City for me is one of the great cities of the the world. One of the great garden cities of the world.
World class city. In my opinion, the best city to live in the Philippines. Not only the beautiful and impressive buildings make Iloilo City the best but also the affectionate, educated and well behaved people residing there.

So much more now, August, 2022, with more new parks and riverside Esplanades, new bldg towers, new big hotels coming up, and the forthcoming new festival in August - the Iloilo Coffee festival. More new parks and Esplanades: 1) the Sunburst Park, formerly the Freedom Grandstand, now demolished and transferred to the Esplanade 9 at the back where the riverside Muelle Loney street is with its km-long Esplanade 9 gardens. The Sunburst Park is a 1930s park that honors the American Sunburst 41st
Infantry division that helped liberate Iloilo from the invasion. Also here is the Filipino counterpart hero of the WWII fight, General Macario Peralta whose statue is honored here. 2) the Iloilo City Garden of Love, features rows of flower-beds with blooming flowers, trees, garden sculptures of swans and dwarves, and at the center is a row of colorful 12-ft tall hearts where you can take selfies. Outdoor garden sets with low tables have been placed in corners where families and strollers sit and picnic. The newest feature is a low pond with water lilies and colorful koi fish. and edged by randomly arranged rocks in a natural setting. At dusk , the led lights are turned on for night visitors and strollers. It is accessible at Esplanade 3 via the Jalandoni-San Agustin Bridge or the new beautiful pedestrian-and-bike-only bridge beside the Skate Park at Esplanade 1 Extension on Diversion Road. 3) under construction now simultaneously are the ff: the Sunset Boulevard, 4 lanes, 4.5kms, stretching from Carpenter bridge at Esplanade 1 and the Medical City Hospital in Tabucan, Mandurriao to Cagbang in Oton, with Esplanades and biking lanes 4) under construction: Dongon Creek Esplanades and biking lanes, 4.5kms, from Esplanade 1 Extension at the Iloilo River to Dongon Jaro. 5) Molo Boulevard Seaside Beach Tree Park, with sandy beach front and strolling paths and viewing decks on landscaped greenery lawns overlooking Guimaras island. 6) Loboc Lapuz Mangrove Tree Park in Loboc Lapuz District. 7) Lanit Native Trees Park and Botanical Gardens and Tree Nursery in Lanit, Jaro, Iloilo City. 9) Esplanade10, at the foot of Forbes bridge in La Paz District and ends at the Muelle Loney Railway bridge, traverses the entire side of the MIPW bldg (formerly MIWD) at Bonifacio Drive. This is the shortest Esplanade at approximately 20(?) meters. 10). Under rehabilitation now simultaneously are all the Spanish plazas in the City and may be ready by December, 2022 - Plaza Libertad, Plaza Molo, Plaza Jaro, Plaza La Paz , Plaza Villa Arevalo, Plaza Mandurriao, Sen. Rodolfo Ganzon Square, at the Rotonda front of the Iloilo Community College, junction of General Luna Street and Avanceña Molo street. Plaza Libertad features new walkways and palmtrees. Plaza Molo features a new Spanish Mudejar (Moroccan-Granada) fountain, and the Maria Clara statue sculpted by Italian Francesco Monti has been given its own landscaped pedestal. The Molo Church facade now has nighttime lights. Plaza Jaro''s Belfry is now also being faithfully restored and the 15ft statues of the 4 Virtues, destroyed by the CayCay earthquake in 1948, is now being restored after 74 years. Plaza La Paz will feature a new Koi fish pond with waterfalls and a Butterfly Garden. Plaza Villa Arevalo's huge metal Crown given to ILOILO CITY by the Spanish Queen has been restored and 20ft classic heritage pedestal has been landscaped. The Crown was given by the Spanish Queen to ILOILO CITY in recognition of her title as"La Muy Leal y Noble Ciudad de Iloilo"(The Most Loyal and Noble City of Iloilo), and as testament to ILOILO CITY's title as "QUEEN CITY OF THE SOUTH".

This city, ILOILO CITY in the Philippines, is just the perfect locale for s Hollywood James Bond movie, or a Francis Ford Coppola religious-espionage-cum- Da Vinci-romantic movie. Everything is just perfect - the European ambiance,,the charming roofs and statues, wide boulevards, the beautiful numerous bridges, the scenic river, the gardens, parks, Esplanades. The only characters lacking - James Bond; Robert Langdon, Silas, Sophie Neveu in the Da Vinci Code, and Amelie (Daniel Craig, Tom Hanks, Paul Bettany, and Audrey Tatou). James Bond and Robert Langdon working together vs. Silas, and coming to the rescue of Amelie, who turns out to be Sophie Neveu. Wouldn't that be wonderful? And amazing still, the setting is in the beautiful, charming and romantic, old-world European City in the Philippines that is ILOILO. Why not?
