Third Oldest Sto Niño in the Philippines from Spain was at Sto Niño De Arevalo Parish Church. Most probably the Oldest Church in the region, older than St. Anne's Parish of Molo
It is called the CASA REAL because it was here where the last Spanish Governor General in the Philippines Diego de Los Rios fled to after leaving Malacañang Palace when Spain surrendered the Philippines to America. By this time in the late 1800s, the entire Philippines was no longer a Spanish colony except Iloilo City. And so the Spanish Monarchy continued to reign in Iloilo. Thus, this bldg became the "Malacañang of the South", a Royal residence for the Spanish Governor General. Later, the Governor also surrendered Iloilo to the Filipino revolutionaries led by local General Martin Teofilo Delgado here at the Plaza Libertad. Thus, the name CASA REAL de ILOILO . MALACAÑANG OF THE SOUTH.
AFAIK the Philippne Flag was first raised in Panay at Sta. Barbara, Iloilo... Plaza Alfonso is known as the site where the Spanish Colonial government formally surrender to the Ilonggos...
