I'm loving this Pavement resurgence
Honest question: did they ever really fade away?
@@nitedreamer23 hell no
one of the only band's i've seen sound this good after taking a multi-decade hiatus
I was at this show. Luckily scored tickets by winning the email raffle. It was one of the best performances I've been to. Everyone in the audience was having such a good time and singing along. Pavement, what a band.
0:39 Bob was really feeling it on that line.
Malkmus is starting to look like he should be hosting a Mr. Rogers style kids show (and I mean that in the best possible way).
Finally an episode that wasn't boring.
One of the best thing about the 90's was Pavement. That black Strat with the tortoiseshell pickguard is iconic!
They sound great. They represented the peak of 90s irony. Unfortunately we never really got out of it
Malkmus is so much more than mere irony. Didn't you know? He's a punk. A visionary.
I'd say fortunately 😊
@@slava9622 there will be a point in your life when that feeling will change
@@killyourtvnotme would love to hear your explanation on that
Never got out of it? Huh? Of course we did. And he crafted something more meaningful than some kind of take on "irony". 🤷
Saw them in 1994 at the HFStival in DC, so good to see live, That performance was my introduction to them. What a great day of music.
Good times
Props to Spiral Stairs for embracing the baldness.
This performance is absolutely hilarious. Wholesome as fuck. Love it.
I'm choosing to believe that these guys were never famous in the 90's and instead became a moderately famous group of middle aged people scoring generationally transcendent hits in the 2020's.
They still rule so hard
Saw them at the usher hall in Edinburgh recently & they ruled. Malkmus didn’t talk much but spiral & the Nast kept the crowd going. Amazing show 👍🏻
Malkmus is goofy AF, and I love it
I love Pavement!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Just a fucking superb run of shows. Saw’em twice this summer and they were all so locked in and outstanding.
So great. What a song!
Great hour of television,
saw them in 1999 at Bogarts in Cincinnati. Best band i've ever seen live.
I was there ! If i recall Stephens voice was alil horse and i remember him saying cause he took too many bonghits night before which made my 18 yr old self cheer in approval. Then our car got towed cause we parked in krogers lot. Great vivid night
@@DZobe-nz7dl
Cool, that night my friend locked his keys in his car, called a service, never showed up, ended up breaking a window. fun night
@@chadarra crazy pretty similar night shit we ended up just drinkin in smokin in kroger lot and ended up bein decent size crowd. I remember everything except how we got home to louisville. Does bogarts still have good shows? Been a min since there
@@DZobe-nz7dl
Haven't been in along time.
I'd say they do,
Ugh DIVINE ❤
I feel young again!!
maybe is because the way they look...
ibold looks sick no friction transition from generations x to z, pavement 4 ever man
I adore them
Wow, this takes me way back... ☺️
I listened to you so much guys when I was 20, I don't know if new generation know what you represented. Big nostalgy.
Korea!
Careera like Asia
How did no one make this comment sooner?! Nice job.
Malkmus one of the most original and great guitarists ever!
Mr. Stairs is pretty good himself.
Yes
He absolutley is. At times he kind of reminds me of Neil Young, a kind of loose raggedness to his playing. Off-kilter but so perfect.
They should’ve played Marquee Moon front to back. ¡MALKMUS 2024!
yes as a tribute.
Or marquee mark 😊❤

Hell yeah
I saw these play at Sheffield uni UK in 94 they were ace. I remember the drummer wearing an hi viz jacket 😂
He’s beautiful
Fantastic 👌
I always Always loved Pavement
Sounds fresh as a freakin daisy. Good vibes for my upcoming trip to Austin.
Hermoso!👏👏🎩
Saw them at the same venue the following night, and the energy level was much higher. Not sure if it was travel, the touring grind or just being a little thrown off by the taping aspect of this set, but I remember feeling they were pretty subdued when watching the taping stream.
I watched this taping stream and thought it was great. It made me smile a lot!
I've only seen this song of course but I love it. The whole attitude is a lot of fun lol
Really? I didn’t think pavement could get more energetic than this.
Pavement baby!
Ello from the Philippines!
YEs!!!!!! PAVEMENT!!!!!!!
Bob IS pavement.
I caught them live in Lawrence, Kansas in '98. They were magnificent. I spent a lot of time bullshitting with the band at the afterparty. Capital bunch of dudes!!
Rock chalk! Granada or liberty hall?
@@Patrick-fj2fs Liberty...
Fuck, yes!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
wild - he still sounds exactly the same but looks like Steven malkmus’s ghost
That's just kinda how he looks when he performs lol pretty much the same as the '90s concerts
He looks great lol. You should try touring all of your 20s, 30s, and 40s. See how ya fare.
he's doing great what are you talking about
Is it the silvery hair that makes him look ghostly? 'Cause I'd say he's aged quite well.
@@seanreed2379 Good point. I like Stephen even more now. He didn't have to do this.
Wow a fresh ACL with Pavement in 2023?!
Malkmus could have been a devastating cult leader
Could've
I no idea they were still around. This is rad!
*ist Rad
They’ve agreed to reunite every ten years. This reunion was postponed because of covid.
@@joemartinez331 did he say every ten years?
@@ryanjavierortega8513 they reunited in 2010 and were supposed to tour again in 2020 but was postponed.
It's genuinely unsettling to see the band get old. Their music will always sound so young and free.
Unsettling is the most accurate way to put it. It's beyond odd to see Malkmus look like a crotchety grandpa.
@@user-mr7bz2wi4c Hey he still looks pretty damn good as far as I’m concerned
It's a reminder to live. Life is short!
@user-mr7bz2wi4c I mean he kind of always seemed like a crotchety grandpa even back in the 90's 😂
I saw them at Free Tibet in SF those were the days!
Bob has still got it.
Pavement was my 1st gig when i was 16, in 1993. Will never forget them! Have never seen them again since! They sound much more organized and refined now, but my guess is they've been playing music for 30 years since then so i can't blame them! they were a hot mess back then, but still amazing! ha
Wow, what a first gig!
Wow
Can anyone share a link to Bob’s mushroom shirt? Thank you.
I never understood how Malkmus' singing voice sounds like two octaves lower than his speaking voice.
... I wonder if he talks like an ordinary guy.

Love Pavement :) saw them at the Roundhouse last October. Fantastic band :)
Also, 2:12
😮 He's so tall that strat looks tiny on him, although based on 1:53 the body does look slimmer than a regular 45mm thick strat body...
The Preston school of industry could pass for Black Francis
Still, and always ace
2:24 guy on the left didn't like being told to cut his hair
Pretty damn good for a middle-aged cover band! 😉 Said completely in jest of course..still sound great.
They need to give it up
Some stuff never changes 😅
Ils jouent traaanquilles comme on dit dans le sud. Quelle aisance…
Malk finally looking his age
"does this even count as a show?" yes, mr. malkmus... it does. thamk.
Like, good dad rock.
I bet pizza Steve approves. Jesus Christ leads us through 2023 now.
REAL SHIT I've been saying this. I only rock with pizza steve approved trax, an Jesus christ lead years.
Their lead singer looks exactly how I imagined him to look
like... geeky?
What is the name of the vocalist??
Malk has permanently changed "Darling don't you go and cut your hair" and that's prolly eons ago
Prefer the jicks. Still love pavement though!
The Jicks are great, Malkmus is just awesome in any guise 😊

good song guy. get a life or go back to watching american idol
Like a lot of their stuff but was always put off by the whole 90’s hipster vibe of both them and their audiences.
Gay Jews sounding like Sesame Street
Hipster in a "Sleep" hat sighting......ugh
Predictable anachronistic observation, proving that you talk in hipster temporal dislocation
Just say "girl." A girl in a Sleep hat. Oh, the humanity.
Sleep rules tho . Some dude passed out at the sleep show I saw lol
It was foggy in there lol
Malkmus looks miserable.
Is this "music" or a comedy show?
Well, apparently the band hasn't changed at all. They're still terrible.
