I know that, well, basically the anime didn't hinder that at all, but Roswaal didn't actually "caused" the witch hunt in Ram's village, but he did knew about it beforehand and acted just at the exact moment just to save Ram, effectively letting all the other villagers die. Also, it's actually unknown if Roswaal knew about Rem during that time (or the book told him about her) since she's been erased from the world. It may be that, for some reason, Rem wasn't actually mentioned in Roswaal's book and that's kinda creepy lol
I am surprised that a lot of reactors overlook the chance of minerva being emilia's mother from the hints in this episode. The way they behave and their kindness, the shape of their eyes, their long hair, their unique attire which is identical. They both suffer from insecurity. Minerva says " You are strong, unlike your mother". She also doesnt let emilia see her face. Gets emotional when fortuna is mentioned and seems to know her. Says she doesnt have any right to cry infront of emilia. She has the best chance of being her mother with all the info we get. Instead some viewers and reactors alike cling to the theory of satella being emilia's mother despite her being half elf herself and ignore the fact she is madly in love with subaru. Anime literally spells it multiple times that emilia got her white hair and purple eyes from her father who is a full elf and brother of fortuna. So her mother must be a human and might be a witch.
i saw a theory that echidna could be her mother & all the insults were more towards herself for leaving her behind & wanting to make her hate her for not being there for her, specially not wanting to see her at the last trial because the second trial she was breaking into tears after seeing what she wanted her present to be like

I think echidna and Reid(Reinhard's ancestor) must have changed for the better, they aren't the same people as seen in the trials as the people in the real world must have become older and changed with experience. To explain why the dust explosion outright failed, for a dust explosion to work you have to have extremely high and consistent concentration of a flammable dust in the air of an (for the most part) enclosed room and a spark inside of that room in order for a dust explosion to occur. Subaru throwing a bunch of dust into the air near a lit candle isn't anywhere close to the conditions necessary to get a dust explosion... but it's hilarious that he thought it would work.
Just wanna point out, Elsa repeating how endearing Garf is and then speaking a bit about herself when he wears himself out after his beast transformation, doesn’t really seem like a coincidence. She was speaking about herself to give him time to recover, thus the “Perhaps it’s because you’re so very endearing”. She’s crazy af, but she’s such an interesting character.

Let’s just say that what she is is a myth commonly associated with vampires (kinda like how Emilia is assumed to be a witch due to the cultural beliefs of the world to see her features as synonymous with the witch). By the way the first scene in Emilia's trial shows Emilia surrounded by the lugunican capital in flames, NOT the mansion. This isn't a spoiler I'm pretty sure it was just described that way in volume 15(the corresponding light novel).
I think the leading theory of why Minerva was crying while talking to Emilia is because she is her mother, but we don’t know for sure yet. It isn’t been revealed even in the novels yet.

It's been a long time fan theory that Minerva is, in fact, Emilia's biological mother. And that's why she didn't want her to see her face. Emilia is the "daughter of a witch" and her elf side was her father.
A few things!! As some others have said, it's not confirmed but close to guaranteed that Minerva is Emilia's real mom. The "promise" was likely a promise to not try to re-enter Emilia's life as her mom, and instead let her keep the idea that Fortuna was her mother figure. Ram loving Roswaal. This is a bit more conjecture, but the most agreed upon thing is that it's not just stockholm syndrome, but also losing Rem's existence. It's not like Rem died - she is simply not a thing anymore. All of the love Ram had for Rem had nowhere to go, so her mind just moved it over to the next closest person she had: Ros. Lastly, the snow has nothing to do with Puck. Earlier in the season, Ros said he would "do as the tome stated, and cause a great snow to fall on the Sanctuary. It's also been stated that the white rabbits are drawn to mana - the bigger the mana, the stronger the pull. He's using the crystal to amplify the weather spell, and cause a giant storm. Now that the spell is cast, and he can leave it be, it's just a giant magnet that won't shut off until either the crystal is destroyed, or he chooses to turn it off.
Eh knowing this anime I don’t think Minerva is that guaranteed, could be a red herring. We don’t even know if that Echidna was actually Echidna, part of Emilia’s trial might be a fake past for all we know…

one of the best part of the trials is that theyre so different between subaru and everyone else. subarus first one was from his perspective, and the second one was an out of body experience, and it was the other way around for emilia. then the trial about the present showed subaru a lot of different ones, and emilia had that for her future
in case it went over everyones head, it's heavily hinted here that Minerva is Emilia's real mother (since Emilia's mother is supposed to be a human Witch). This is NOT a spoiler since it's not confirmed but heavily implied
Another hint towards this theory is Minerva’s clothing, her clothes are very similar to the clothes the elves from Fortuna village wore, so it’s very possible she was close to that village, and one of those elves is Emilia’s father

This might not help but Roswaal didn’t actually directly cause the destruction of her village, he knew it was gonna happen and took advantage of the situation. He technically saved them, although it was for his own goals rather than being kind. The witchs cult were attacking the village for a reason I think they go into later? Maybe? Im not actually sure if they do explain it later but theres a reason the witchs cult hates onis. Now this doesn’t make it particularly better, I am actually not a huge fan of Ram and Roswaal. At the same time, I can understand why Ram might appreciate Roswaal since its somewhat implied Ram didn’t like the huge burden placed on her by being a prodigy. And also, I personally believe Ram has developed an unhealthy obsession with Roswaal due to Rem being gone. She has a hole in her life and its just filled with Roswaal. Season 3...., let me just put it this way. Season 1, phenomenal and unique af. Season 2, so expansive, emotional, fucked up, exciting, and reqlly well made. [Not a spoiler, because it never gets adressed] There're theories made by fans (that I agree with) that Ram told Roswaal that she loves him because she forgot about Rem. In the past we can indeed see Ram worship Roswaal, but it was never to the point that she'd say she loves him. It is believed that it is implied that because Ram forgot about Rem, all of her sister's love was transferred towards Roswaal.
Echidna would erase the memories of her conversation after ppl leave. So that's why Emilia wouldn't recognize her. Remember Subaru asked her to let him remember her after he leaves the tea party

It's been a long time fan theory that Minerva is, in fact, Emilia's biological mother.
And that's why she didn't want her to see her face.

As some others have said, it's not confirmed but close to guaranteed that Minerva is Emilia's real mom. The "promise" was likely a promise to not try to re-enter Emilia's life as her mom, and instead let her keep the idea that Fortuna was her mother figure.
Ram loving Roswaal. This is a bit more conjecture, but the most agreed upon thing is that it's not just stockholm syndrome, but also losing Rem's existence. It's not like Rem died - she is simply not a thing anymore. All of the love Ram had for Rem had nowhere to go, so her mind just moved it over to the next closest person she had: Ros.
Lastly, the snow has nothing to do with Puck. Earlier in the season, Ros said he would "do as the tome stated, and cause a great snow to fall on the Sanctuary. It's also been stated that the white rabbits are drawn to mana - the bigger the mana, the stronger the pull. He's using the crystal to amplify the weather spell, and cause a giant storm. Now that the spell is cast, and he can leave it be, it's just a giant magnet that won't shut off until either the crystal is destroyed, or he chooses to turn it off.
Eh knowing this anime I don’t think Minerva is that guaranteed, could be a red herring. We don’t even know if that Echidna was actually Echidna, part of Emilia’s trial might be a fake past for all we know…

Very fun fact. If there won't be Meili from the beginning - Garf wouldn't likely even face near death-situation, because he wouldn't need to pay attention to her zoo, wouldn't need to spend stamina on her zoo while fighting Elsa, wouldn't need to deal with her best pet at the end.
one of the best part of the trials is that theyre so different between subaru and everyone else. subarus first one was from his perspective, and the second one was an out of body experience, and it was the other way around for emilia. then the trial about the present showed subaru a lot of different ones, and emilia had that for her future
in case it went over everyones head, it's heavily hinted here that Minerva is Emilia's real mother (since Emilia's mother is supposed to be a human Witch). This is NOT a spoiler since it's not confirmed but heavily implied
Another hint towards this theory is Minerva’s clothing, her clothes are very similar to the clothes the elves from Fortuna village wore, so it’s very possible she was close to that village, and one of those elves is Emilia’s father
Ppl have mentioned Minerva had to have died early on or something, so she couldn’t be her mother.
But maybe Minerva is related to the woman who was Emilia’s mother, and knew her. Either way it feels highly likely Minerva knew her mother very well.
@@BelBelle468 The timelines are indeed a little out of place for this theory. As far as I remember, the witches have died around 400 years ago, and Emilia was frozen for around 100 years and got out of the ice about 7 or 8 years ago.
Maybe Minerva is actually Emilia's grandma instead? Or some witch can actually manipulate time? I remember Tappei-sensei mentioned something about a Time Witch in a QnA a long time ago
@@BelBelle468 Emilia's real age is actually still unknown in the series. She could actually be much older than we might think. And Minerva talking to Emilia about her mother and the way she phrases things sounds like shes talking about herself in the third person.

This might not help but Roswaal didn’t actually directly cause the destruction of her village, he knew it was gonna happen and took advantage of the situation. He technically saved them, although it was for his own goals rather than being kind. The witchs cult were attacking the village for a reason I think they go into later? Maybe? Im not actually sure if they do explain it later but theres a reason the witchs cult hates onis.
Now this doesn’t make it particularly better, I am actually not a huge fan of Ram and Roswaal. At the same time, I can understand why Ram might appreciate Roswaal since its somewhat implied Ram didn’t like the huge burden placed on her by being a prodigy. And also, I personally believe Ram has developed an unhealthy obsession with Roswaal due to Rem being gone. She has a hole in her life and its just filled with Roswaal. She used to place Rem and Roswaal equally but now its just him

Season 3...., let me just put it this way. Season 1, phenomenal and unique af. Season 2, so expansive, emotional, fucked up, exciting, and reqlly well made. [Not a spoiler, because it never gets adressed] There're theories made by fans (that I agree with) that Ram told Roswaal that she loves him because she forgot about Rem. In the past we can indeed see Ram worship Roswaal, but it was never to the point that she'd say she loves him. It is believed that it is implied that because Ram forgot about Rem, all of her sister's love was transferred towards Roswaal.
