I agree with the Young age theory, Rivet could had been left behind, and just assumed this was her home. Ratchet is a good example too, he was too young to remember anything, he was sent to Veldin and that was the only home he ever knew.
I really like the theory of Rivet being Alister’s daughter, especially with the red and white color scheme for Rivet in the concept art. Not only her concept art, but her original model when she was a literal copy/paste of Ratchet during early stages of development. Anyway, the reveal of Rivet finding out and Ratchet telling her he actually knew her father would be such an emotional thing. I just can’t help but want to believe it.
@@charleschamp9826 Imagine if Ratchet copied Alister in revealing what happened "Why is my dad gone? Why can't you just tell me what happened?" "Because I failed him!" *slumps down to the ground* "because I failed him..." Seriously, it could be such a heavy and emotional moment between the two of them. I just want the two of them to share more about their pasts and what they've been through. Rivet is pretty much a mystery to us and Ratchet knows a good amount about the Lombaxes including his father. I feel like at some point Rivet will learn about her family too.
I like this theory too, perhaps the Lombaxes banished the entire Azimuth family because of Alister but he must have somehow got separated from his family
@@elharvey5032 I always thought that once the rebellion against the Lombaxes began, Azimuth did what Kaden did and sent their only child to a new place where they thought they'd be safe from Tachyon. I suppose the whole Azimuth family could have been banned, but I feel like that'd be pretty harsh considering his wife probably had nothing to do with it and Rivet was most likely an infant at the time. I'm not saying it's not possible, but the Lombaxes would have to be pretty brutal to do that.
I theorize that Lombaxes never existed in any other dimension. That somehow, when they created the Dimensionator their species was "Dimension-locked". After banishing the Cragmites they may have begun using the Dimensionator to colonize/explore other dimensions, thus explaining the "our people are scattered across so many dimensions" line. The game is very specific to say things like "I believe Ratchet is your dimensional counterpart" and "So you're supposed to be me?" Instead of outright stating it. Which would mean that Rivet is the child of some of the lombaxes who left Ratchet's dimension, and not an alternate Ratchet (if anything she is like Spider-Gwen is to Miles Morales in Spiderverse: that universe's spider-based New York superhero, but not the same person). But then what happened to her parents? Did they die to Emperor Nefarious before Rivet was old enough to remember them? How did she get orphaned on Sargasso? Plus, if the Lombaxes did exist in every universe, why not just go to one of the dimensions where Tachyon never killed them all. Alternate Dimensions in sci-fi are such a can of worms, but they do lead to some fun theory-crafting
the case of a dimensional counterpart is something that they show that they have doubts and are not sure. In addition, the case of a counterpart does not mean being the same person in another universe, but it can also be taken as only fulfilling the same role as another in the dimension. in which he is but they are 2 different characters, as in the case of miles morales and gwen, but continuing with the theme, I feel that Ratchet and Rivet are 2 completely different lombaxes and the things that show it are their ways of acting, the 2 different lives that they have had and the fact that in the lorbs it is mentioned that many ended up in different dimensions and with this I propose the following theory, and if Mags were the father of Rivet, that would make sense of everything since my theory is based on that when Rivet's family went to escape, the dimensioner ended up taking them to that dimension, and seeing that there were no other lombaxes and the dimensionator they used suffered damage, Mags had to separate from his wife (Rivet's mother to keep them safe from the dangers of the dimensional map and its information falling into the wrong hands, which would end up leading him to savali. and about Rivet at that time she was a baby and due to the dictatorship of the emperor at that time he was committing genocide so it could have happened that she had to escape from armies of nefarious but it was impossible for her and in the end the mother of Rivet had to abandon her to save her and somehow the baby Rivet would end up reaching Sargasso and the morts would find her to raise her and they would be the ones who would give her that name (I put the more detailed theory in the next comment)
I wholeheartedly believe Rivet is NOT Ratchet's counterpart. The game has characters ASSUMING that they are counterparts but they are still unsure how true that is to begin with. Because of that I assume Insomniac is purposefully leaving it vague. Not to mention if Rivet was indeed Ratchet's counterpart that would have left way more plot holes and would force the writers to bring up an entire counterpart of missing Lombaxes which could get messy. Furthermore, the devs could easily have it so that Lombaxes are a one dimensional species like the Zoni.
But Gary still mentions that Ratchet has other counterparts aside from Rivet. He's pretty wise guy and has some impressive knowledges so maybe we can trust him
@@clauliz5502 when he and Clank were discussing why Rivet is so different from Ratchet, Gary tells something like "maybe all the other Ratchets don't like robots in their dimensions either".
@@karandash_play Gary said "maybe" so he might not be sure either and earlier he said he wasn't sure about the place he and Clank were in when they met
When we do get to the main Lombax dimension, I really wanna see the council, it'll be interesting seeing their perspectives on Kaden and Azimuth, because we all know, they'll eventually bring them up, since he was the one that cost them their home in the first place.
@@elharvey5032 some Lombaxs turning bad, would definitely be a plot twist, but, I would more likely believe that, not all of them turned Evil, since everyone was split up into groups. More likely, certain heads of the groups, got into arguments on how to regrow the society, leading to infighting and a civil war. Would make a interesting diplomatic dilemma, for Ratchet and Rivet to reunite their race again.
My theory is, after scape of the Tachyon's attack using the dimensionator Mags, her wife and their baby lombax ended on that another dimension, in that moment the emperor's dictatorship was beginning and he was committing genocide, so they had to escape, otherwise they would be assassinated. So when they were escaping, Mags realized that his Lombax information was very dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands, so he decided that it would be best to separate from his wife and daughter to keep them safe, in the end that would lead him to Savali and he would meet the monks and perhaps with the plumber which would help him create the dimensional map and to prevent the lombax information and the dimensional map from falling into the wrong hands they decided to leave Gary and the monks in charge of that. Returning with the Lombax mother and her daughter, at that moment the Lombax mother believed that she was safe after having separated from Mags because they believed that the Nefarious army was persecuting them for their high-value information, but they were wrong since The emperor, as I mentioned before, was committing genocide to impose his dictatorship on the galaxy. So the Lombax mother had to continue escaping from the emperor's troops, however at one point the situation became so complicated that she could not escape. So seeing that in the place where she was there were some freighters that were preparing to go to their destinations, she decided that the best thing was to leave her daughter on one of those freighters and distract the Nefarious troops that were chasing her so that her daughter could to be safe, so she left the baby lombax in a box of the freighter that was heading towards sargasso and went to distract the soldiers of nefarious who in the end murdered her. then the freighter took off towards sargasso and when the cargo they had arrived was directed towards the morts, when a mort received the cargo she was surprised that there was a baby in the Rivets box there when she saw that there were not many options about What to do in that case, he decided to raise her in the company of the other morts and he named her Rivet because of the box in which he found her and also because he felt that the name would suit her (this theory is based on the memories of po from the movie kung fu panda 2, I see a lot of sense in it and it would explain very well everything that happened so that Rivet ended up being with the morts and his great difference with respect to Ratchet)
Yeah this very thing was burning in my brain ever since I first played this game, thank you for finally talking about it! Also I wouldn’t be surprised if the next game out right conforms this for the sake of a plot twist or something.
What I find very strange about Ratchet and Rivet being dimensional counterparts is that they seem a lot different than all the other dimensional counterparts. All the other dimensional counterparts of characters can be easily identified at a glance and having slightly different origins and personalities. Quantum is a little skittish and tries to honestly be heroic versus Quark who wants to do good but his narcissism tends to get in the way. Emperor Nefarius and Dr Nefarius both seek conquest; however, the former will backstab most people for his own benefit including Dr Nefarius if given a reason to do so and is willing to get his hands dirty directly. The latter tries to use people but doesn't go out of his way to backstab people and rather not get his hands dirty directly. Strangely, Ratchet and Rivet seem similar personality-wise than other dimensional counterparts and having little distinction between the two; however, physically, you could not honestly say that they are alternate versions of each other. One is female and the other is male. One has white fur and the other has yellow fur. One has a bushy housecat's tail and the other has a lion's tail. One has a robotic arm, while the other does not. One is a rebel, while the other is a hero. Although they do have differences like other dimensional counterparts, the comparisons that can be made between Ratchet and Rivet seem to bizarrely stand out compared to all other characters where they are all just alternates of the same character. I really hope that Rivet is expanded in the future with whatever sequel is being planned. I feel like there could be a side series to Ratchet & Clank called Rivet & Kit. Plus, the ending of Rift Apart implied that perhaps this not the last time we will see Rivet & Kit. I could see future gameplay with Rivet & Kit being a lot more combat oriented, which it kinda was in Rift Apart; however, we never got to play as Kit. Meanwhile, Ratchet and Clank can still have a focus on combat but have puzzles mixed in the gameplay, which, again, kinda was already done in Rift Apart. Most of Ratchet's parts felt like mainly: How do I get from bad guys and mainly get from here to there? Most of Rivet's parts mainly felt like: How much 'kaboom' can I make?
A theory I had, is that Rivet was sent to an alternate dimension, so Tachyon could never reach her. She was likely born in the Polaris Galaxy, like Ratchet was. Maybe even born on Planet Fastoon. But since Tachyon had became such a massive threat, maybe Kaden thought, unlike Ratchet, it be too risky to send her to another Galaxy. The safer option, was to send her to an alternate dimension, since Tachyon would never be able to reach it, without the Dimensionator.
I’ve been thinking about this for a long time, even before the game released after the reveal of Rivet and watching the story in Rift Apart, I have a few theories that I hope It doesn’t spoil the future for the story. Ratchet and Rivet have a lot of things in common and being like the same, but she’s not really a “dimensional counterpart” of Ratchet despite seeing everyone else so far almost looking exactly the same, meaning Rivet (and Kit to Clank) is the only one who is a “counterpart” gender swap for Ratchet. However they’re still related like… relatives by having the same blood and DNA as they would learn further more about their families and the Lombaxes. (Similar to a certain Star Wars plot twist when we think about it.) It just make perfect sense for them as it could be the reason why Rivet is like the first playable character who’s not the titled character and I hope it’ll be true all along.👀🤞🏻
This talk of Dimensional Counterparts reminds me of the reference to an "Angela" that Rivet makes during return trips to Zordoom Prison, for anyone that does not know it's specifically in the room filled with cages. Now be that a Dimensional Counterpart to Angela Cross (like how Rivet is sort of but maybe not a counterpart to Ratchet) or not, the Angela we know did wear a disguise, in Rift Apart we first see Rivet wearing a full set of Robot Disguise Armor. When we first meet Alister he thought Ratchet was wearing a Hologuise, so there seems to be some precedent to Lombaxes disguising themselves in some way. Ratchet himself has done it, the Robot Hologuise in 1, the Tyhrra-Guise in UYA, the Neferious Hologuise in ACiT, and least we forget Mustachio Furioso. It's very possible that Rivet has met other Lombaxes but just did not recognize them as such. But what I'm getting at here is there could be other Lombaxes in Rivet's dimension that she's simply unaware of, and with how it's implied that Rivet and Emperor Nefarious have faced off multiple times in the past, and apparently very publicly at that considering that the person that Rivet bumps into during that opening knows who she is on sight. I imagine any other Lombaxes there may want to keep a low profile lest they draw the Emperor's wrath or be used in some sort of scheme against Rivet or the Resistance. Who up until Rift Apart had a track record of losing against him every time. Maybe there is a true counterpart to Ratchet in that dimension's version of Solana that never left their Veldin because they never got their hands on Robotic Ignition System and went out with the planet when Drek brought in the Deplanetizer. But we're getting into fanfic by this point. Going back to that reference I actually like the idea that the Angela that Rivet mentions is not some counterpart but actually the exact same one that Ratchet & Clank met back during the events of Going Commando. That somehow she ended up there and joined up with the Resistance, maybe they got stranded there before making it to the Lombax Dimension. What constitutes "A long time" as Rivet puts it does vary from person to person, she could mean a few months, she could mean a decade, or more. But in-universe how long has it been from the last time we heard anything of Angela, the radio broadcast in A Crack In Time mentioning her and Max Apogee fleeing together, to Rift Apart?
In-universe, I'd think roughly 3 + x(Ratchet did say they haven't done anything heroic in years during the prologue) years have passed since the last time we heard of Angela over the radio. Number 3 refers to the time gap (years) between each game. Each game roughly happens 1 year apart.
A theory that would make sense as to why Rivet was left behind is the whole what if she's Alister's daughter, I think that Rivet's mom probably left her in Sargasso with the morts to find Alister (since was banished) but she probably got lost or died in the process therefore Rivet had no one else besides the morts
In the lorb side quest the lombax mentioned that during tachyon's assault that a message was sent to lombaxes across the multiverse it could be possible that they came from a single dimension but it's hard to conclude since we've never seen other white female lombaxes and like other dimensional counterparts the share similar physique but different color patterns
What ifc the lombaxes don't have dimensional counterparts, because they were nomadic to many different dimensions, and didn't just have one? That would explain why Ratchet and Rivet seem to both come from the same group of lombaxes, who apparently both fled their dimensions. They are one and the same. There was only ever one race of lombaxes between all dimensions.
a problem arises were the presence of multiple dimensions also brings the possibility of multiple different instances of the lombax race. meaning that rivet, while being a lombax, could be an entirely separate, but similar species than ratchet, hence the difference in appearance. theories aside though, I think she's just a different person in the same place instead of an alternative instance, no company has a mind for existential mind-benders. so the simplist is the most obvious.
So you know how in Sonic games Sonic has a gender swapped version of himself who’s not really him, but shared a similar goal, and a similar nemesis to defeat and stuff? Yeah… that’s pretty much Rivet. Like Blaze the Cat, she’s essentially her dimension’s equivalent to Ratchet, however she’s an entirely different person with a different personality that makes her stand out a bit, but still carries the same duties as Ratchet.
I feel like it's a interesting point and hopefully the next game will explore this idea. I think logically it makes most sense that Rivet is Ratchet's dimensional counterpart but ya know with having a similar background that Ratchet has had with being left behind. The biggest difference being how she's worked alone up until this point! But yeah I agree with you lol
YES! THANK YOU! These are my thoughts Exactly! Heh, sorry couldn't help myself there, but as always great video! Also, come to think of it, I'm not too sure that Kit is an alternate verison of Clank either.
@@VtnVivi The only thing we do know is that Kit was born in a robot factory to be a War-Bot while Clank was born in a robot factory to be a Sentry-Bot but turned out 'defected' before later learning that he was created in the Great Clock. Other than Kit being yellow with blue optics while Clank is grey with green optics of course.
TLDR; I think the term "dimensional counterpart" is taken a bit too literally by the fandom and that what it actually means is just having someone to fill a similar role but no be the exact same person. I jump through many hoops to explain this. We're probably taking the idea of having a dimensional counterpart a bit too literally in this case. I think a great example of this is actually Captain Quantum and Qwark. Quantum is of the same species as Qwark, a humanoid alien race with skin tones to match our own, and Quantum is clearly a different skin tone from Qwark. But another thing to note, Qwark is a misspelling of Quark, a subatomic particle. While Quantum's name is the correct spelling for Quantum. Yes I know Qwark is spelled like that here to avoid copyright issues and because it fit's Qwark's buffoonish personality but then why not have Quantum be spelled "Qwantum" to really drive that alternate selves theory home? Quantum also seem a bit more emotionally and intellectually intelligent from our goofball Qwark. My guess is Quantum is someone who stepped up to fill Qwark's role because in this dimension there was no Copernicus Qwark period or if there was he was unavailable or unable to fill the role for unknown reasons. I think the same could be said for Rivet, whose personality, while very similar to Ratchet, also has more nuances to make her stand out as her own character. Rivet isn't as confident as Ratchet, isn't as self driven as Ratchet, isn't focused only on what pertains to her like Ratchet tends to do. While Kit is an obvious stand in for Clank there is the very big hole of "Is there an Orvus in this dimension and is Kit His/Her Daughter?" Kit is also more prone to giving into her anxieties than Clank, isn't as willing to stand up and fight when pushed as Clank is, is much more focused on her personal problems than Clank is. Rivet and Kit have had to step into their role as their dimension's Ratchet and Clank because there either was never a Ratchet or Clank or there was and they never teamed up like our boys did and something made them unable to meet or become heroes. But if I'm being honest here I think this is just a case of the writers trying to streamline so many loose ends and contradictions into something comprehensible as a story and they more than succeeded from a face value. These game have never been known for having a watertight plot, hell if you tried to make a boat out of anything past UYA you'd probably sink in under a minute.
Some good stuff here! I agree on dimensional counterparts being taken too literally. And if we're real honest here, we could even say this whole ''alternate'' thing between Ratchet & Rivet is simply assumed.
I don't know, it could be that she is, especially in the realest sense, because she acts a bit like early Ratchet, when he was still maturing. Or they aren't, it could be that, when the Lombaxs, all split up from each other, they're bodies had adapted to the current dimension they were occupying in. Or Lombaxs just come in different breeds. 😅
I guess you can say I'm kinda like you I over think this stuff a lot but hey it's fun besides it gives me ideas for artwork I actually like to draw video game characters I have so many SketchBook full of sly cooper art and jak and ratchet even crash Bandicoot and spyro to and im going to start drawing Kao the kangaroo and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger I just started playing those games this year and I absolutely love them
I don't think so. The fact that there is a Lombax research Village, likely of the dimensional research due to the Lore orbs, she is likely a 'left' Lombax, similar to Ratchet being left on his dimension as soon as the Lombax retreated. But with the Dimensionator fixed, the next story could be almost anything... Like say, Lombax race became an aggressive empire, having their history be a reminder that even with all their technology, they were lost a war by fleeing. Or possibly a familiar 'forgotten' civilian character's Dimensional counterpart being the next big bad for the next title.
I just fear that these things even in the next game will not be clarified properly, because by now the scriptwriters and writers of this decade always do this, there is 0 clarity.
Hey Vivi, how ya doin? It's me again. There are a lot of implications that come up with the lorbs that contradict things. For one, what are these lorbs doing on Savali and not Fastoon? Let alone in Rivet's dimension and not Ratchet's? Someone asked if every dimension has a Lombax race that fled a version of Tachyon. The lorbs mention Kaden by name. Is Rivet the daughter of this dimension's Kaden, or do these lorbs refer to Ratchet's Kaden? The comment below me theorizes that when the Lombaxes created the dimensionator, they were dimension locked, and so only one Lombax race could exist. I prefer this reality. So then, if a Lombax civilization existed in this universe, could it be that the Lombaxes didn't immediately settle down after fleeing Tachyon? Is Rivet's dimension where they initially ran to before being forced to flee again? And why did they bring the lorbs with them to Rivet's dimesnion instead of leaving them on Fastoon for Ratchet to find? This ties back to my initial theory of Kaden's survival. For those who don't know, contacted Vivi a while ago with a theory that Kaden survived Tachyon's pursuit. The theory went that Tachyon shot Kaden down, assumed he was dead, and didn't bother to check. Kaden crossed paths with the Smuggler, sold him his Gyro Cycle, and then fled into hiding. Vivi made a video on the theory, so you guys can go look it up for yourselves. So now, that brings us to this video and the lorbs. Assuming my theory was true, could Kaden have then made his way back to the Lombaxes? I actually also theorize that it was Max Apogee who dropped Ratchet off on Veldin. He would have had the dimensionator with him and evacuated the Lombax settlement on Kyzil Plateau (Yes, I fully believe Kyzil Plateau is an abandoned Lombax town. The technology is identical in visual aesthetic to that of Fastoon, the structure on Sargasso, Savali, and the Alpha Disruptor.) Assuming now that this is true, could he have regrouped with Max and Angela and fled with them into Rivet's Dimension where the Lombaxes would have been at the time? That would then make the lorbs mentioning Kaden make more sense, as he would have then been a part of the Lombax society on Savali. As well as Rivet having known Angela. "Last time I was here (Zordoom) I was with Angela." So then what was the event that happened on Savali that led the Lombaxes to have to flee again? Something to do with emperor Nefarious? Wait a damn second. I don't have access to my PS5 right now, but doesn't one of the files in the pause menu say how many years Nefarious has been in power? Could it be the crisis in question could be when Nefarious took over? For this theory to work, Emperor Nefarious would have had to have taken over about 15 to 16 years before Rift Apart, because that's how long ago the events of Deadlocked took place. Max and Angela would have fled Ratchet's dimension about this time, if not sooner. Perhaps it was during UYA even. So let's say he would have taken over anywhere between 15 to 18 years ago. His takeover could have been what led to the Lombaxes having to flee Savali and scatter across dimensions. So is the planet seen in the portal at the end of Tools Of Destruction Savali? Is it even in Rivet's dimension? Or is it wherever they fled to after emperor Nefarious took over? This still doesn't fix the plot hole that Mags says he's the one who redesigned the dimensionator as a hat. The dimensionator was already a hat when it was used to banish the Cragmites. The great war didn't end recently. It's stated in either Tools of Destruction or A Crack In Time that it was eons ago. You're telling me Mags is eons old? And Kaden? I wish that Sam had payed attention to the little details, you know, done more homework. I suppose maybe you could remedy the plot hole by saying the great war started eons ago but ended more recently. I can't remember if it's stated that the great war ended eons ago or if that's just when it started. So many questions. So many questions.
Depending on definition. Is Rivet a female Ratchet? I believe not. Is she a female Lombax that was left in her dimension, just like Ratchet, therefore becoming his counterpart? Most likely.
so, here's something i think you'd find interesting. awhile ago, someone made a compilation of ratchet's voice lines from rift apart, and this compilation featured some rather interesting cut dialogue, specifically two lines where ratchet reacts to the first lorb and the final lorb. for the first one he says: "kaden? meaning dad? how long ago was this? and who's the voice?' and for the last one: "thanks mags, whoa, so did rivet get left behind? i need to talk to her later about all of this." both of these lines also have two separate recordings, one where ratchet sounds hurried, and one where he sounds calm, which _might_ suggest these lines were meant to play during gameplay, as in insomniac's own spider-man games, when peter and miles are on the phone, they can sound either strained or relaxed depending on whether you're swinging or walking. so overall, cut dialogue, non-canon, _but_ it does suggest that the writers did at one point consider the possibility of rivet being one of the scattered lombaxes rather than ratchet's direct counterpart. personally tho, i think this is a similar case to angela, how cut dialogue from up your arsenal confirmed she was a lombax before a crack in time did, similar deal here i'm thinking. and for the video itself: look up "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - Ratchet Voice Lines + Efforts" and skip to 1:12 , 21:42 , 36:12 , and 50:48
What if... Emperor Tacheon (sorry if I misspell) was just a threat in only Ratchet's dimension? Speaking of dimensions and endless possibilities, could the Lombaxes have had another threat that was chasing them through dimensions? This is a theory but it seems like Ratchet's and Rivet's Lombaxes might have had different reasons on why they had to make a dash to a safe dimension, although it could just be that Emperor Tacheon was able to get himself a dimensionator from the Lombaxes and that was threat enough for them to leave. Might be over thinking it, dunno
Hmm... Now that I thought about it, at first during Rift Apart's initial hype, I didn't really care much about it until I saw this video. I still get that Ratchet and Rivet are dimensional counterparts, but they don't really seem like literal dimensional counterparts. I'd say (this is obvious, but not poignant and interesting enough because it's too easy and makes too much sense XD) because Rivet is not a guy like Ratchet (heck, I still remember my dad "teasingly" saying how are Ratchet and Rivet counterparts when they're opposite genders), but that's not the point in-depth analysis-wise. I agree with you on when you said that Ratchet and Rivet are just "different life experiences," seeing as how Ratchet grew up with a lifelong companion of his, that companion being Clank, and Rivet never had a personal friend or partner like Clank all her life until she met Kit, as for the others like Phantom, Quantum, and Pierre, they are legitimately more like literal counterparts to Skidd, Qwark, and Rusty Pete from Ratchet's dimension. Still, I think Ratchet a d Rivet both in some ways have that "dimensional counterpart" figure, but other than that, I conclude that they are truly not actual dimensional counterparts just because they live in different dimensions. I kinda lost track with all the Ratchet and Clank theory stuff I want to discuss with you. I've been preoccupied with other games aside from 'Ratchet and Clank' that I think I'm starting to lose in-depth interest in one of my absolute favorite PlayStation games. ^^; But get that I'd always want to get into some Ratchet and Clank theories, especially since you're one of the best GAME theorists out there. 😉
well with the info brought to light about dimensional counterparts and rivet might not be an alternate version of ratchet because of the dimensionator wouldn't that mean every dimension that has lombaxes have literal doublegangers in every dimension meaning say rivet is her own lombax and ratchet his own meaning they are not gender opposites they are different people i mean look at quark and quantum they are both male and have different shades of skin not gender opposites but they both wear the same outfit with different colures so the possibility that river was one of the unknown amount of lombaxes that just got left behind
As far as the Lorbs go, imo, nah, it's not a can of worms to me, I do get the lore behind them and why they're here, we'll just have to wait until next game for IG to better explain things. All in all, I really do not find these things too complicated. XD In the words of Daxter to Keria, "honey, the more you think about it, the more it hurts the head".
Great video! I would actually ask you if you could do videos about the ratchet and clank pirates. They are pretty misterious antagonists. Who is slag? Who is darkwater? Where did they came from? How did the pirates team up? It would be really cool and interesting!
Ooh, this is always one of the hottest and most divisive topics in the community. Nice to see you cover it. I honestly hope that we will get a true explanation of this in the next game. Because you aren't wrong, this is straight up weird. Massive can of worms opened with no true answer. Me, I'd rather not stick my fingers into this complicated beehive without a true answer, so I am really unsure. I prefer to believe that she is a literal alternate, but we shall see what the next game brings.
I think the combination of multiverse and lombax lore doesn't fit well together and cause a serious plot hole. As Gary mentioned in Clank's puzzle. Ratchet has many others dimensional counterparts aside from Rivet. It means that R&C universe has uncountable amount of dimensions where you can find Ratchet's counterpart. Each counterpart may have some differences and similarities. Also we were told that Mags marked every dimension in existence but he never tells us that he managed to find other lombax civilisations. Does that mean that Rivet was borned in the same dimension with Ratchet? And what about other Ratchets Gary mentioned earlier? It seems that we don't really get clear answers how multiverse work with "lombaxes were scattered from the same dimension" plot point
There's perhaps the possibility that was there in case Insomniac ever chose to go with the "Yes". I said before that Insomniac kept things vague on purpose and that could apply to them not fully deciding on what route to take hence why there are lines in place should they decide.
Gary: ''Maybe your dimension is the outlier? Maybe all the other Ratchets don't like robots in their dimensions either''. Maybe Gary was just assuming there more more Ratchets? Then again, this is coming from the son of the Plumber...
Nice to see another Rachet and Clank video Say how about you make one with Emperor Nefarious ? And maybe your own ranking of Rachet and Clank games from worst to best ?
You played sonic frontiers at all Vivi? I love the game but the open world exploration feels so exhausting a lot of the time. So many empty areas but the soundtrack is amazing as always!
Hey Vivi. Could you make a video on how possibly Tachyon could return in the next game due to the Lombaxes plot? It would make the most sense if he did.
Tachyon should definitely return as the main villain in the Lombax Dimension game. Along with it being very fitting, IG could use him to explain Ratchet's origins to new fans among others things they really should have tried to explain a bit more in Rift Apart. If they do I hope Tachyon is changed a bit to make him a better villain.
@@fidqetz Yeah it would be cool to see him lead old enemies again, maybe even a few from other dimensions like Nethers and maybe the race that lived in the dimension he was stranded in. I also have this idea for an important plot point for the next game where because of Tachyon (and later someone else) something is making it so that while things can go into the Lombax Dimension, things CAN'T go out. This means everyone is trapped there until the 2nd Great War ends.
Who would have thought. Messing with alternate realities leads to messed up narration. I think everything is possible here, considering that even Insomniac is confusing itself with this "dimensional counterpart" thing. We'll propably know more in the next game, unless they decide to twist that thread even more.
Even if they are counterparts, well, they're not the same person so literally, they have different genom, different live, different conditions, different story, also different parents, just like in spiderman movies. It's not like rick and morty.
Or.... they didn't think things through and didn't care. Plus, Kit? What about Great Clock? Is she a Zoni too? Zonies are interdimentional species, they come from their own dimention. Let's face it they just blew it on the concept because they wanted to have the Marvel-Multiversum gimmick without the work. The many other things that just point to them thinking that way and us trying to give them way to much credit like.. pirates. Who build pirates in Rivets dimention if we actually have the almost EXACT copy of Rusty Pete?
I think I brought this up before what do you think it may be possible rivet is related to Alistair think about it he was meant to stay behind who's to say it's not possible that rivet might be his daughter if she somehow ended up in a different dimension maybe the lombax.s hide a few of the kids in other dimensions just in case they were ever discovered in the dimension that want to
@@VtnVivi I hope get more background on rivet or even better she gets to see her mom in the lombax dimension when she gose there whit ratchet the only sad thing is ratchet will have tell them what happened to Alistair for me the ending of a Crack in time was hard to watch I mean first Alister try to kill ratchet but in the end Alistair did what was right it was hard to watch but in all honesty I think Alistair knew that that was for the best he really had nothing left to him around his best friend was gone and if rivet really is his daughter who he was forced to separate with and can't see then sacrificing himself was what ended his pain that he kept inside himself so many years and whit that being sead I can't even imagine how ratchet what explain that to them
in that case... with your other video about angela reference... it could be possible that angela by any possible way get in rivet dimension sooo honestly i dont know... imo i dont think she would by herself i mean, she would have needed the dimensionator but we know ratchet find it first... so maybe there a "dimensionnal guardian" whathever race he/she is have take angela to another dimension ?
What about the Ratchet and Clank from the reboot universe? They certainly are alternate versions of the classic ones. Maybe there are infinite universes with infinite lombaxes and they all vanished to reunite in just one dimension. Who knows.
I’m slowly making my way through Clive n wrench right now. Really fun game overall. I love the amount of variety each level has. But not every world has a proper boss battle. Only ever second world. What do you think overall about this?
So, either Ratchet and Rivet are actually counterparts of basically the same person, or...they could do what people do and... *cough cough* Yeah...regardless an interesting theory.
If rivet is ratchet’s counterpart then does that mean there could be a counterpart for Alister and maybe Angela? We need more games. Lol well rivet knows an Angela so maybe we’ll get a line in the next game for an Alister she might know
What if Rivet being in that dimension is what makes her Ratchet’s alternate and not the idea the that she is Ratchet in an alternate dimension? Idk just a thought I had don’t know if it helps or not. Hope people understand what I am try to say/convey. .P.S. to convey my theory here are some examples of what I mean: that is Ratchet in alternate dimension but instead of yellow he is red and white like Alister. This is in alternate dimension ratchet but he is shorter then the ratchet we know. Last example this is ratchet in an alternate dimension but is shy instead of brave like the one we know. I hope this conveys my theory better sorry for my comment being so to anyone that reads this.🧬🔮
@@VtnVivi thanks for understanding, I was basically writing as I was think it, try to figure out how to describe my thoughts on the video. .P.S. you should check out my comments on Jak and Daxter the dark makers video and the Ratchet and Clank plumber video, I think you will find my comments on those videos interesting and a little informative.
Im thinking of having PS5 and Rift Apart as gift for my 25th Birthday (only need half of cash im saving for PS5) Also wich one of these you think has a better wrirten story Rachet and Clank Rift Apart or Dr Strange in Multiverse of Madness ?
Though I do see the similarities that could lead to the idea of the Lorbs talking about Ratchet's Lombaxes, I did find some inconsistencies which along with RA's theme of dimensionality makes me feel like the Lorbs are talking about Rivet's Lombaxes. I also personally don't like the idea of there only being one kind of Lombaxes in the Omniverse, as along with how that sounds like it should be saved for unique races like the Nethers and especially the Zoni, the idea of multiple Lombaxes just sounds more interesting as we could potentially see Lombaxes portrayed differently like Lombaxes with spots, Lombaxes that are more mystical, or Lombaxes that look like dogs who some Lombaxes are scared of XD. Sure IG could be retconing stuff (wouldn't be the first time) and I'd be okay if this does happen, but I think multiple Lombaxes not only prevents future messes but allows more fun possibilities in future games like Ratchet meeting an AU version of his father or Azimuth in the Lombax Dimension as you've previously mentioned.
@@VtnVivi Yeah. It's still exciting though, as there is A LOT IG could do for a game taking place in the Lombax Dimension which could be one of the best R&C games yet if they play their cards rights.
I have this theory that Rivet and Ratchet are twins, Kaden must of kept hidden the news that his wife had twins from tachyon and Alister with the boy looking like him while the other a girl looked like her mother. Kaden then has his daughter sent to another dimension meanwhile he sent his son to solana galaxy so that way Tachycon wouldn't go after both of them and keep them safe. Why else would she be in or even got to that dimension? also I think Mags is Kaden's brother why else would Kaden have such trust to let him use the dimensionator?
@@VtnVivi too much of a risk. If tachyon found out about both of them then they would be killed, in Kaden's mind sending one to a dimensions while the other remaned in their old dimension then it would make them harder to find but I think he intended to have mags find them since he mapped the dimensions out but there must of been an exsplosen that destroyed a device that showed where each twin was sent so he couldn't find them and kaden hid the dimensionator. But I don't think he ever stopped serching for them and I will be writting a story based on my theory it would mean that they would have a family member.
The only thing keeping me from believing this theory is the whole tails situation. Female Lombaxes arent supposed to have tails, so maybe Rivet having a tail (not to mention a visually distinct one) probably means that female Lombaxes in that dimension DO have tails, on top of being different tails. If she was from the same dimension, it would make no sense for both of these biological differences to be present.
I have this exact theory in my drafts since the release lol
Surprised you didn't talk about the Morts 👀
It'd be a maybe parallel to Alister talking about how he knew Ratchet's father and telling him old stories.
@@charleschamp9826 Imagine if Ratchet copied Alister in revealing what happened
"Why is my dad gone? Why can't you just tell me what happened?"
"Because I failed him!" *slumps down to the ground* "because I failed him..."
Seriously, it could be such a heavy and emotional moment between the two of them.
Yep I've been keeping an eye on that concept for ages now!
Good point
the case of a dimensional counterpart is something that they show that they have doubts and are not sure.
We shall see what the next installment brings. That's all I'm saying.
But Gary still mentions that Ratchet has other counterparts aside from Rivet. He's pretty wise guy and has some impressive knowledges so maybe we can trust him
@@karandash_play when did he mention that?
What would the council more interesting is if they turned out to be the main antagonist of the next game
I been replaying rift apart, and I really hope in the next game we do get more content on Rivet and Kit. There’s so much about them that we don’t know
Agreed!
Yeah this very thing was burning in my brain ever since I first played this game, thank you for finally talking about it!
Also I wouldn’t be surprised if the next game out right conforms this for the sake of a plot twist or something.
Rivet not being a literal counterpart as a plot point for the next game wouldn't surprise me either!
A Rivet & Kit game I could imagine! Good stuff you wrote here :D
Oh IG will definitely make Rivet & Kit games in the future.
(Similar to a certain Star Wars plot twist when we think about it.)
It just make perfect sense for them as it could be the reason why Rivet is like the first playable character who’s not the titled character and I hope it’ll be true all along.👀🤞🏻
Ah yes I remember that concept of hers... This is another topic I'll delve into eventually :)
I personally believe that there is way more to this story. However, we’ll have to wait and ponder for now unfortunately. Great video by the way.
Glad you enjoyed it :D
Oh there definitely is but IG likely held back so Rivet's backstory could be explored later, likely in her own spinoff series with Kit.
Finally, FINALLY all the pieces have been moved in place. The game is set, now they finally have to show us where the Lombaxes went.
In my headcannon I think all of the Lombaxes come from the same dimension.
Hopefully we'll see Mags, he sounds like a really chill dude.
I know right?
@@VtnVivi Right!
YES! THANK YOU! These are my thoughts Exactly! Heh, sorry couldn't help myself there, but as always great video!
Also, come to think of it, I'm not too sure that Kit is an alternate verison of Clank either.
Glad you enjoyed it! As for Kit, we could dive deeper for sure! For example, does she have her own version of Orvus?
@@VtnVivi The only thing we do know is that Kit was born in a robot factory to be a War-Bot while Clank was born in a robot factory to be a Sentry-Bot but turned out 'defected' before later learning that he was created in the Great Clock.
Other than Kit being yellow with blue optics while Clank is grey with green optics of course.
I started replaying the game on challenge mode not too long ago. Such a blast having already owned the weapons and continuously upgrading them too.
@@VtnVivi It really does have me excited for whatever comes next! And all the cool discussions that will come with it.
I very much appreciate you making a separate video on this, your comment last time was great but this was amazing bouns
I appreciate it :D
I don't know, it could be that she is, especially in the realest sense, because she acts a bit like early Ratchet, when he was still maturing.
Or they aren't, it could be that, when the Lombaxs, all split up from each other, they're bodies had adapted to the current dimension they were occupying in.
Or Lombaxs just come in different breeds. 😅
Oh and as for her stripes and eye color being different from allister's she could have got that from her mother
I guess you can say I'm kinda like you I over think this stuff a lot but hey it's fun besides it gives me ideas for artwork I actually like to draw video game characters I have so many SketchBook full of sly cooper art and jak and ratchet even crash Bandicoot and spyro to and im going to start drawing Kao the kangaroo and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger I just started playing those games this year and I absolutely love them
So, rivet is my favorite character she is better than shadow the hedgehog
I don't think so. The fact that there is a Lombax research Village, likely of the dimensional research due to the Lore orbs, she is likely a 'left' Lombax, similar to Ratchet being left on his dimension as soon as the Lombax retreated.
But with the Dimensionator fixed, the next story could be almost anything...
Like say, Lombax race became an aggressive empire, having their history be a reminder that even with all their technology, they were lost a war by fleeing.
Or possibly a familiar 'forgotten' civilian character's Dimensional counterpart being the next big bad for the next title.
I would love to see an ''evil'' Lombax society! Would make for a great twist :)
I just fear that these things even in the next game will not be clarified properly, because by now the scriptwriters and writers of this decade always do this, there is 0 clarity.
Who knows :O
Here’s an interesting thought. What if Mags was Rivet’s father?
I say she's Azimuth's daughter
Doing good, how about you? Thanks for sharing! Definitely things that make you think :D
To cut it short:
Yes. It’s inferred numerously & directly stated.
Sorry folks.
Depending on definition. Is Rivet a female Ratchet? I believe not. Is she a female Lombax that was left in her dimension, just like Ratchet, therefore becoming his counterpart? Most likely.
I always thought Rivet could be Alister’s daughter
I've had that same feeling for some time, definitely something I'd love to explore eventually!
so, here's something i think you'd find interesting. awhile ago, someone made a compilation of ratchet's voice lines from rift apart, and this compilation featured some rather interesting cut dialogue, specifically two lines where ratchet reacts to the first lorb and the final lorb.
for the first one he says: "kaden? meaning dad? how long ago was this? and who's the voice?'
and for the last one: "thanks mags, whoa, so did rivet get left behind? i need to talk to her later about all of this."
both of these lines also have two separate recordings, one where ratchet sounds hurried, and one where he sounds calm, which _might_ suggest these lines were meant to play during gameplay, as in insomniac's own spider-man games, when peter and miles are on the phone, they can sound either strained or relaxed depending on whether you're swinging or walking.
so overall, cut dialogue, non-canon, _but_ it does suggest that the writers did at one point consider the possibility of rivet being one of the scattered lombaxes rather than ratchet's direct counterpart.
personally tho, i think this is a similar case to angela, how cut dialogue from up your arsenal confirmed she was a lombax before a crack in time did, similar deal here i'm thinking.
and for the video itself: look up "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - Ratchet Voice Lines + Efforts" and skip to 1:12 , 21:42 , 36:12 , and 50:48
You better believe it
Thank you for tuning in I appreciate it!
well with the info brought to light about dimensional counterparts and rivet might not be an alternate version of ratchet because of the dimensionator wouldn't that mean every dimension that has lombaxes have literal doublegangers in every dimension meaning say rivet is her own lombax and ratchet his own meaning they are not gender opposites they are different people i mean look at quark and quantum they are both male and have different shades of skin not gender opposites but they both wear the same outfit with different colures so the possibility that river was one of the unknown amount of lombaxes that just got left behind
As far as the Lorbs go, imo, nah, it's not a can of worms to me, I do get the lore behind them and why they're here, we'll just have to wait until next game for IG to better explain things.
All in all, I really do not find these things too complicated. XD
In the words of Daxter to Keria, "honey, the more you think about it, the more it hurts the head".
Gotta wait till next game, is definitely true
Gary: ''Maybe your dimension is the outlier? Maybe all the other Ratchets don't like robots in their dimensions either''.
Maybe Gary was just assuming there more more Ratchets? Then again, this is coming from the son of the Plumber...
Imagine Secret Agent Kit and Rivet Deadlocked
ROFL!
@@nu-agegamer3548 what’s so funny?
👌👌👌👌 oooohhhh so cool those ideas!!
@@gerardorodriguez7500 They just sound a bit funny. That's all. Realistically those are some cool ideas.
Nice to see another Rachet and Clank video
Say how about you make one with Emperor Nefarious ?
And maybe your own ranking of Rachet and Clank games from worst to best ?
Emperor that I will! As for worst to best, really comes down to having enough footage captured... maybe in the future!
The sewer levels in rift apart were beyond cool I thought!
Yeah!
You played sonic frontiers at all Vivi? I love the game but the open world exploration feels so exhausting a lot of the time. So many empty areas but the soundtrack is amazing as always!
Good question.
Hey Vivi. Could you make a video on how possibly Tachyon could return in the next game due to the Lombaxes plot? It would make the most sense if he did.
Ever since Rift Apart happened, I've been meaning to :) Just don't know when that'll happen exactly.
@@VtnVivi Oh okay. Good to know. Whenever you can make that happen, Id be ready to watch it. As soon as possible would be great :D (id be hyped)
@@CommentingCommenter I want Tachyon to get a hold of the Dimensinator again and bring the cragmites and drophyds in the next game
We shall see :P
I theorized this not too long ago. Like if Rivet’s dimension is the original one for the lombaxes.
Even if they are counterparts, well, they're not the same person so literally, they have different genom, different live, different conditions, different story, also different parents, just like in spiderman movies. It's not like rick and morty.
Well one day I’ll play it. One day
Or.... they didn't think things through and didn't care.
I'm definitely curious about things on Kit's end. She's just as sentient as Clank, did she have her own version of Zoni as you stated?
@@VtnVivi Yes, and what about the Great Clock then?
I think I brought this up before what do you think it may be possible rivet is related to Alistair think about it he was meant to stay behind who's to say it's not possible that rivet might be his daughter if she somehow ended up in a different dimension maybe the lombax.s hide a few of the kids in other dimensions just in case they were ever discovered in the dimension that want to
I've thought about this for a while and will dive into it eventually. I always think back to one of her concepts :)
@@VtnVivi I hope get more background on rivet or even better she gets to see her mom in the lombax dimension when she gose there whit ratchet the only sad thing is ratchet will have tell them what happened to Alistair for me the ending of a Crack in time was hard to watch I mean first Alister try to kill ratchet but in the end Alistair did what was right it was hard to watch but in all honesty I think Alistair knew that that was for the best he really had nothing left to him around his best friend was gone and if rivet really is his daughter who he was forced to separate with and can't see then sacrificing himself was what ended his pain that he kept inside himself so many years and whit that being sead I can't even imagine how ratchet what explain that to them
in that case... with your other video about angela reference...
it could be possible that angela by any possible way get in rivet dimension
sooo honestly i dont know... imo i dont think she would by herself i mean, she would have needed the dimensionator but we know ratchet find it first... so maybe there a "dimensionnal guardian" whathever race he/she is have take angela to another dimension ?
What about the Ratchet and Clank from the reboot universe? They certainly are alternate versions of the classic ones. Maybe there are infinite universes with infinite lombaxes and they all vanished to reunite in just one dimension. Who knows.
We could picture them as alternates sure, but I feel at this point we just discard the re-imagining.
I hope i get to play this game soon
I’m slowly making my way through Clive n wrench right now. Really fun game overall. I love the amount of variety each level has. But not every world has a proper boss battle. Only ever second world. What do you think overall about this?
I enjoyed the platforming aspect of it! Bosses felt underwhelming.
@@VtnVivi for sure. Some you fight and others you don’t. But I like how at the end it’s a 3-part boss rush. Do you agree too?
So, either Ratchet and Rivet are actually counterparts of basically the same person, or...they could do what people do and... *cough cough* Yeah...regardless an interesting theory.
*Does the "eyes on you fingers" intensely*
Wait, whaaaat? I didn't get it
@@karandash_play The *cough* *cough* is obvious. You still don't get it? Think.
@@nu-agegamer3548 I assume he means dating? 👀
@@karandash_play Worse.
If rivet is ratchet’s counterpart then does that mean there could be a counterpart for Alister and maybe Angela? We need more games. Lol well rivet knows an Angela so maybe we’ll get a line in the next game for an Alister she might know
Does Talwyn have one? The plot thickens.
@@VtnVivi now I really want to see an alternate timeline cronk and zephyr. That hologram behind club nefarious doesn’t count lol

I hope this conveys my theory better sorry for my comment being so to anyone that reads this.🧬🔮
I understand what you mean :)
Im thinking of having PS5 and Rift Apart as gift for my 25th Birthday (only need half of cash im saving for PS5)
Also wich one of these you think has a better wrirten story
Rachet and Clank Rift Apart or Dr Strange in Multiverse of Madness ?
Didn't enjoy the latter, so I'll just go with Rift Apart ;)
@@VtnVivi so you also think that MCU is going downhill with phase 4 ?
Unless they make Kang intimidating like Thanos
I just don't know
Though I do see the similarities that could lead to the idea of the Lorbs talking about Ratchet's Lombaxes, I did find some inconsistencies which along with RA's theme of dimensionality makes me feel like the Lorbs are talking about Rivet's Lombaxes.
Let's see what IG has in store for us :)
In that case, why not just send both kids to another dimension?
@@VtnVivi too much of a risk. If tachyon found out about both of them then they would be killed, in Kaden's mind sending one to a dimensions while the other remaned in their old dimension then it would make them harder to find but I think he intended to have mags find them since he mapped the dimensions out but there must of been an exsplosen that destroyed a device that showed where each twin was sent so he couldn't find them and kaden hid the dimensionator. But I don't think he ever stopped serching for them and I will be writting a story based on my theory it would mean that they would have a family member.
I want to Kit Father looks like probably different, What do you guys think?
Like an alternate Orvus?
@@VtnVivi Yup, But more warlike 😁👍

I love the ratchet and clank games but this game story is just a bigg mess
Nah it isn’t if you’ve been paying attention lol
I believe it's more about trying to, connect the dots between this and the future trilogy.
Hi
This could be a good question hard to tell the truth Rivet is female Ratchet add her dimension/could be his long lost sister from Star Wars
