How to Remove the OneDrive Save Option from Microsoft Office Apps
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 сер 2024
- If you find yourself accidentally saving your Word documents or Excel spreadsheets etc. to your OneDrive account, then you might want to consider removing the OneDrive option as a save or save as location. Changing the Connected Experiences setting in your Office account settings will remove the OneDrive option from your save locations for all of your Microsoft Office programs. You can also change the setting in the Save options to save to computer by default if you do not want to remove OneDrive yet hopefully not save to OneDrive unintentionally.
Just be sure to review the other settings that will be disabled once you uncheck the box that says Turn on experiences that download online content to make sure it doesn't turn off something you might need.
You can read the writeup of the process on our website.

Thanks! Just what I was looking for. Extremely annoying that Microsoft tries so hard to corral everyone into OneDrive, particularly when you're trying to set up Google Workspace/Google Drive users and trying to ensure all their data is captured properly in the Google environment.
amazing video, sectioned straight to the point, fixed my issue with auto saving to one drive in seconds! thanks!1
Sir, you have "Made My Day" and Year. I had removed OneDrive through "Add Remove Programs" but was still sutck with OneDrive icons and releated stuff that simply would not go away. Thank you sooooooo much for sharing this hack.
Thank you so much! I am so tired of seeing these "upgrades" that are supposed to make life "easier". I miss the window XP days. The features were just what I needed
Thank you brother! Thanks to you, I was able to delete, there is not a single guide on the Internet, you are my savior
Thank you. I was missing files and didn't realize that one drive was hiding all of my documents. Very good video.
This is an incredibly huge help! Thank you for this tidbit of information.
Thank you! This subtile forced "everywhere logged in" and "whoops save it in the cloud" is cancer.
Perfect!-Just what I needed - well explained - Thank you
Thank you very much! Hated this for a long time... was looking for a solution and found this video. It works!
thank you! this is just what i have been looking for!
Thank you for this video. It worked. I cannot tell you how annoying it is for OneDrive to be the primary save location for docs vs my PC.
Thank you. I found that setting and was not sure if I should touch it; this was super helpful. Can't stand Onedrive, LOL! Thanks!!!
Nice video, thx for adding the chapters, found this menace really quick and deleted onedrive save option!
Thank you. You saved me from burning my laptop and moving to mac
Thank you! This video solves at least one portion of my "How to stop OneDrive from taking over my life" quest. If anyone has a conspiracy-minded tendency, OneDrive is for them!
thank you. I agree with the other comments. Microsoft should not be forcing this down our throats like this.
Excellent video - very helpful indeed!
Thanks for the info! My dad was complaining about Excel wanting to save his files to OneDrive constantly. Thanks for nothing, MIcrosoft!
Thank you!!! Exactly what I needed! Appreciate it.

Exactly what I needed . I wish Microsoft would install with all the bloatware turned off and then give you the option to turn on various the other crap.
So helpful! Thank you.

THANK YOU!!!
Thanks!
thanks legend.
Good video!
Thank you
Thanks this is informative, however, I also wish to remove the purple SAVE (to one drive) command icon at the top left of the screen. I continually click on it in error, so is there a way to delete that icon in addition to the way you've instructed us to disable 'save to one drive'?
Oh MY God Thanks!!!!
If manage setting option is not available then what to do please inform me thanks
Under Manage Settings, I don't have "All Connected Experiences". I only have "Optional Connected Experiences". Suggestions for this scenario?
Thanks for a very nice easy to follow video. I tried these steps but it did not help my issue. I have several Word and Excel docs that I never want to save to OneDrive. And yet EVERY time I open one of them I get that giant banner across the top "Back up Now" that I have to x out of every time.
Are you opening them from OneDrive? If so, then you will need to download them to your computer and open them from there. You can also remove the referenced OneDrive files from your recent files in Word and Excel to avoid accidentally opening the OneDrive version.
No, I only use OneDrive for music and other non personal data cloud storage. I open this from local Docs folder. Thanks for responding.@@OnlineComputerTips
maaaan this is crazy!!! Thank you so much.... **** Microsoft wtf!
Please can you make the video same as for Microsoft excel
The same steps will work for Excel and even if you do it from Word, it will apply to Excel as well.
Thank you. This was driving me batshit crazy... eff Microsoft and their "oh, you need to work the way we want you to for your own best interests and safety" nannyism. Adobe too...
I did this and it worked to remove one drive. It also turned off my "help".. "Help" now says the administrator has turned it off. How do I get the "Help" to work again?
Hah! Big nuisance removed. Many thanks.
Thank you! Microsoft is SO annoying
