ART HeadAmp 6 PRO - Overview and Demo (Headphone Amp)

- Опубліковано 18 сер 2013
- This video features the ART HeadAMP6 Pro Headphone Amplifier. The HeadAmp6 Pro is a SIX-CHANNEL stereo headphone amp. It also has a six channel AUX input section that can be used to employ what ART describes as the "More Me" feature. When using the "More Me" function, you can dial in more of a signal into a specific channel, right from the unit. No need to change headphone sends in your DAW or Mixer.
This video demos some of the features of the Head Amp 6 Pro with Sony headphones, Audio-Technica headphones, and Vic Firth Isolation headphones.
The Head Amp 6 Pro has 6 stereo headphone outputs on the front and 6 on the back. It includes XLR or 1/4" TRS Main Inputs and Main Thru ports.
The Head Amp 6 Pro is competitively priced and offers features not available in Headphone amps that cost twice as much!

Fantastic video! This is how you demo gear. An actual real world demonstration showing exactly how the piece works. Thank you for taking the time.
No. He skipped basic things, like input connections, so you can't know why "more me" -feature is possible.
Just unboxed my ART today and found your tutorial. This is how I want to learn, hands on, detail and all the bases covered. Thank you!
This is the best demo I've ever seen.
you cleared up alot of questions i had.. thanks for taking the time to make this!
Great review. Seeing you demo the mono buttons cleared up questions I had about aux sends. Thanks!
Excellent demo man. thanks a lot!
Excellent demo.
Wow man this review was excellent
Great video man, I've been looking at getting one of these. Looks pretty handy.
Great Review ! - Thanks
R&B Studios WA
great review. thanks.
good review
Nice review.
One question:
If 2 guitarists plug their stereo guitar preamp-effects in stereo "aux1" and stereo "aux2" respectively and their headphones in "channel 1" and "channel 2", can they lower down the volume of the other guitar using "more me" balance knob?
Or the "more me" balance knob is used only for lowering the "main mix" volume?
Thanks in advance for answering.
Really good review. Thanks so much.
AlwaysSmile InTheSun Thanks. It's a nice headphone amp unit and not overly expensive.
Great video, I just wanted to add to the "two headphones one channel" comment. It's not about the headphones being modern so much as it's about the Ohms of the cans. The lower the Ohms the less power it takes to power them; higher Ohms need more power. I understand the "modern" theory I would say headphones (cans) used for devices like phones, laptops etc. would be best in this situation due to their lower ohms generally rated for these "modern" devices. Higher Ohms are better suited for headphones that will have the ability to be used with some sort of DAC/amplifier for higher fidelity audio; generally associated with audiophile listening. Thanks for the great video and information!✌🏾
Low Ohms-32
Mid Ohms-80
High Ohms-250
Yeah I probably over simplified things and was not clear 👍
By far the BEST explanation on the internet on how to use the ART Headamp 6 PRO. I'm trying to figure out why my main to aux knob is operating in reverse. Getting "more me" turning toward the main. I've got outputs from my Focusrite interface going to the ART balanced main and my instrument going from the Focusrite output into the ART aux. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this please. Thanks!
Great video, I just found it. Just a question. I understand the dedicated line from your guitar/bass to the aux on the back for the "more me" monitoring. My question will be how can I also bring the signal from the guitar to my mixer at the same time. This solution is great for rehearsal but how can I send two signals of my guitar to the Mixer ( I have a tascam 12) and to the HeadAmp at the same time. Just confused. thanks
The output to amp is an output for the internal processing of the 11R not a direct out like the Mains.
are you going to make a vid on how to used the eleven rack as a interface so we can get a head phone mix with the (output to amp) 1(left)..... thanks
how do you completely bypass the eq'ing on any output for mastering/ monitoring ? De-solder the bass/ treble pots ?
Will the direct in take a mono signal? And if so will I be able to hear in stereo?
Where's the input coming from, you didn't explain how you are supplying signal to the amp????
The way we use the ART Headamp 6 pro in our studio is...
Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Auxiliary output 1 to ART Headamp 6 pro stereo Auxiliary 1(Back)
Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Auxiliary output 2 to ART Headamp 6 pro stereo Auxiliary 2 (Back)
And so fourth.
This way when we're tracking a band, they each get their own headphone mix (which we creat in the StudioLive board)
Then we also creat a "complete mix" from the Presonus StudioLive 'Sub-mix' 1 and 2 sends to the ART Headamp 6 pro balanced main inputs (back) so the band could hear a rough mix in their headphones without having to leave the tracking room.
Hopes this helps someone.
If you're only inputting two aux mixes then every member of the band can't have "their own mix"...unless it's a 2-man band.
Nice presentation.
Does it have "Talkback function"?
how did you connect your art headamp 6pro to the receiver
how did you connect your head amp 6pro to. the receiver
how did you connect your art headamp 6pro to the receiver.
we all like the lights !!!
Can you hook up an ipod to the AUX mix input and mix in music or play along to something?
Is there any reason this headphone amp wouldn't be effective in a live hard-wired live situation using in-ear monitors ???
*Thanks*
I apologize. How do I connect my art headamp 6pro to my presonus studiolive 16.0.2 digital mixer
Thank you for the video.Could you explain how you had it plugged into the Eleven Rack?
+Friday On Elm Street I thought I mentioned that in the video. If not, I have the Main outs of the Eleven Rack going into the Main Ins on the ART. And then the Main Thru's go to my studio monitors
so i have recently just aqquired an Art 6 pro and im having a little difficulty figuiring out how to properly set it up, so i can use "more me" or even create seperate mixes for people any info on how i can set this thing up would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for a great video. This should do what I need it to do @ 1/2 the $$$ of the Presonus HP60.
Peace
Has anyone tried using the direct in for talkback? Or does it cut out the back when somethings plugged in?
can i use this with an Mbox Pro? and if yes how? thanks.
whats that compressor back there?
how to hook up this setup inside of pro tools?
?
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for thus. I did not understand the connection of the mono jack for the "more me" Do I need to have to twon inputs of audio into the headphone amp to ba able to use that feature? As in have the two inserts from the aux out into the channel strip then also a mono jack from the guitar monitor so as to be able to use that feature. I probably misunderstood. Thanks in advance
So will this fix cracking I hear I have onyx artist 1-2
What if you want "more me" for both guitar an vocals. You mentioned "daisy chaining" channels - is this how you would do it? Run your guitar into one channel and vocals into another and somehow connect both?
If you really want to go down this path just have small 4 channel mixers for each musician and allow them to mix their own levels. Not all musicians are going to need this. When they do it themselves it frees the engineer for doing other things.
Can this be plugged into a focusrite interface? Assuming i would just sent the audio output into the direct in and I'm good to go?
I was wondering if this units input and through put will work with the power off, somewhat like the Art equalizers with a hard by pass. I was thinking of using one of these in my home audio, and would like it if the unit could remain in the chain off when not in use. It is a good question so please answer it. Thanks.
If I understand you, then yes. For example, I have me Eleven Rack Main Outs connected to the Main Inputs on the ART and my monitors are plugged into the Main Thru of the ART. I do NOT have to power ON the ART HeadAMP6 in order to get sound from Pro Tools or the Eleven Rack to my monitors. Hope that helps.
can someone tell me if this can power higher ohm headphones
I bet I can take my ipad output and my 4 monitor mixes and do in ear mixes for band with this.
Is there an Headphone Amp like this but compact with only 1 Chanel ???
They seem to run my beyer 80 ohms fine but I have to have them cranked almost all the way up. Any tips. Just so you know I am running my Focusrite 2i2 interface with the Art 6 headamp and Beyerdynamic 80 ohm custom studio headphones. I am using normal male to male end headphone cable from the interface headphone out jack to the Art direct jack.
did you end up happy with them with your 80 ohms
how do you achieve stereo mix for individual channels? can it be done via the individual Aux In with TRS?
Can I use the direct in at the front to send a click-signal to every channel?
You can, but the direct in overrides the rear panel balanced inputs. If you want a click plus whatever is going through your DAW, just connect your interface output to the rear balanced ins, and generate the click from your DAW.
We have a gaming channel. Could I use this amp's AUX OUT in each individual channel so each person can hear their own monitor while still listening to everybody else's voices at the same time?
how did you connect your
headamp 6pro to the receiver
+jot Thompson what receiver? Do you mean the audio interface?
I was wondering will these support 80 ohm impe headphones
bubz hos sol 80 ohms will be no problem from my experience.
Can the headphone amp be used as a monitor controller? And does it colour the sound? I would like to run the main outs of my Rosetta 200 to the amp for speaker/ heaphone volume control. Thanks in advance
Gregory Carter I don't think so... I mean... I guess it would be technically possible but you would have to run the Mains through headphone inputs and that's not what they are meant for. I wouldn't do. Second question: This headphone amp does not color the sound assuming you have the EQ on each channel set to 0. And there is no color to the sound when using it as a pass-through to your monitors.
***** Thanks. Since the post i got the Dangerous Music Source. I don't regret it!
Gregory Carter Cool, that's a nice box, congrats on the purchase.
How much do you love your Eleven Rack ...
Ok, first off GREAT video! I have a question. Is there a way that I can use this mixer (Xenyx802) Premium 8-Input 2-Bus Mixer with XENYX Mic Preamps and British EQs www.behringer.com/EN/Products/802.aspx I'm trying to get a separate mix on the "More Me" function in each headphone, but getting stuck.. PLEASE HELP!
Please I would like need advice. I have headphone amplifier Behringer HA6000 Which one exactly cable I can use for my audio inference Native Instruments KOMPLETE AUDIO 2 ? Because I would like working with them both.. Please send me link on amazon. If I will be also use my SubZero SZ-MIX06USB 6-Channel USB Mixer/Interface with them so which one exactly cables I will be need for my SubZero SZ-MIX06USB 6-Channel USB Mixer/Interface ? Please send me link on amazon
how did you connect your art headamp 6pro to the receiver
how did you connect your head amp 6pro to. the receiver
I apologize. How do I connect my art headamp 6pro to my presonus studiolive 16.0.2 digital mixer
+jot Thompson I've never used that mixer, so I can't say for certain, but after a quick look at the specs it looks like you have plenty of options with Main Outputs, Aux outputs, and Monitor Outputs. It really depends on what you want to do. You could probably connect the Monitor outputs to the MAIN THRU of the ART and connect your monitors to the ART, that's one example. But again, I don't know how you want to use the ART, so sketch out the signal flow in your head or on paper and connect it the way you want.
