Late to the party here, but WLL and breaking strength are not to be confused. Steel shackles are rated by working load limit, and soft shackles are rated by minimum breaking strength. That steel bow shackle at 9.5 ton WLL is approximately 3x stronger than the soft shackle that's rated at 30k lbs BREAKING STRENGTH. Most steel shackles WLLs are calculated by dividing their breaking strength by 5 or 6. So the BREAK STRENGTH of the steel shackle is probably closer to 100k lbs.
Excellent info. Thanks
@@mdlee52 no problem! Sorry I didn't mention that I enjoyed the video. Lota of good helpful tips.
Steel shackle breaking is 7 times the rated working load
6:48 I work with shackles since we lift heavy loads with cranes and yes they are called SHACKLES not D-Rings. d-rings are those such as ones found on full body harnesses and such.
nice video, owning 2 jeeps and a side by side in the past, I can say that s a good video and items.
This was a nice twist to a "tool" video. Having come from a "prepper" background this fits my style quiet nicely.
@mdlee52 I have some of those plano molding 1619-00 utility trunk storage cases. Great video brother.👍
great video, I agree totally with everything. I've seen a SxS pull a jeep cherokee out of a mudhole that I couldn't even pull out with my 9500lb winch. I actually broke the brake inside the winch and it locked up and was useless for a the rest of the day. With that being said I'm going to bring up why a come along is so important. After my winch broke We used my come a long and a snatch block to pull him half way out and thats when the SXS came by and finished the job, but the come along would of done it. It was ridiculous amount of cranking the handle but it would of done it. I also used it the rest of that day and I continue to use it to add tension in certain directions or to winch backwards.
Excellent video. Thanks
Great vid for the off road gang
Thanks for the video MDLEE52.
That about covers it.
Another quality from Mdlee Productions!
I think you might need to film the video on the camp trailer. People are requesting it, and it would make sense to put that video over on your UA-cam channel for the podcast!
mdlee52 I plan to but just put it in storage. It might be 6 months. :(
Liking the off road stuff
Thanks! Trying to expand my horizons a little bit and take advantage of Aaron's expertise.
I've been high centered maybe 6 times. Watch where you are going. #1. Dig. Go on.
can't beat the HF freebies
Top 5 tools are these 4 items and a box of 25 :D
Good info
On those max-trax; can those be used as a tooth pick? They seem very versatile!
I'm sure there are many uses he failed to mention!
Mdlee im from Salem where you guys from? I beleive a air compressor should be in the top 5
I'm in Seattle and he's in Puyallup. I think he keeps an air compressor in his smaller truck.
I used a frisbee to try and get out of snow this weekend. It has been 90 at home and an hour and a half drive away we were stuck is snow.
What state?
mdlee52 Oregon, there is a big difference in elevation between Portland and Mount Hood
Aha, didn't know you were in PDX.
Missing the most important tool in a Off roaders kit, Hi Lift Jack. Get rid of the come a long and winch with Hi Lift.
I'd rather have an exhaust jack and come along. Less weight and more functional
@@veganpotterthevegan you can disagree but I suggest you take training with a I4WDTA trainer. Specify Hi Lift Jack training.
That’s a badass trailer
I may end up making another video about that. He has put a tremendous amount of work into that trailer.
What only off road drivin i ever saw in bay area was when everyone parkednon side of freeway in tacoma in 3" of snow in dec 06
Aaron was probably doing off roading there at that time!
mdlee52 lol, yeah i was in my lancer passimg dually trucks dowm 405 to bremmerton from everette lol. Cant wait for chance to see his trailer rig
Hill Auto Body & Towing is the Long Beach guy.... he's great at yanking knuckleheads out of the surf!
Yep, George Hill!
That tree strap is no joke. What’s the rating on it?
The HF tarps are great.
I can't recall off the top of my head. He may say what the rating is, but if he doesn't I think the Amazon link would have the answer.
And no, that's not just a ploy to get you to click the Amazon link, LOL.
26,400 lbs
That’s Plano IL. Funny guy
Those are shackles or clevis’s not D rings. D ring is a fixed ring like on a harness or on piece of equipment. Very different.
Growing up muddying in Florida, something EVERYONE had, was? An ANCHOR! A good Danforth anchor will get you out of more “dry creek beds” and Mud Bogs than any “Oh, Crap, we need a tree,” solutions.
Can’t even begin to say how many times my come-a-long and shovel got me or a buddy out of stuff. NEVER leave without my shovel, and I have had to use an axe before. Talk about cringing when you going at it near your tires 😬
Grunt style!
I WENT TO SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY, BUT I WAS THI KIN THAT A BIT MORE THAN 5
I try to give you more than you paid for.
Can i get a link to the presenters channel please
ua-cam.com/channels/0TEEwNx4g4YlDna7H0rGAw.html
He just posted a very good video!
hey guys come over to frazer island Australia and we can go aussie 4 wheeling check out inskip action on you tube
My vote for a camp trailer video if you can?
I will either film a video for I'll make sure Aaron films a video for their UA-cam channel.
Aaron just put in storage for a bit but if anything maybe ill drive out and we will record one soon
Those d rings are actually called clevises
Actually they are screw lock shackles, I’m pretty sure crevices are held by a pin and are straight
D Ring, aka shackle are load bearing. A clevis may or may not be load bearing.
Shackles....not lock shackles not clevises shackles
*bow shackle aka anchor shackle
They are called shackles and clevis. Same thing.
Lmbo D rings?....its call Shackles...not D rings
They are actually called d rings. Google it, pooptooth
@@sheldon8801 they're really called shackles or d-ring shackles. Actual d-rings are a ring that's a closed "D"
300 bucks for those plastic traction pads...think you got ripped off dude thats insane
ya whatever
That's right.
I liked that.....better that "yo what's up youtube" or "whats good"
