- We have made it to Egypt! And we're starting this epic trip off with a bang by visiting the iconic Pyramids of Giza, and even going INSIDE the Great Pyramid! We arrived in Cairo from London on a non-stop flight, stayed the night near the airport, and began our adventures the next day. Our first stop was to the Egyptian Museum and it did not disappoint! So many artifacts, sarcophagus, coffins, statues to see inside. Including pieces from inside the tomb King Tut! We had lunch at Abuo Shakra which had the most impressive view of the pyramid complex sitting up on the Giza Plateau. Finally seeing the pyramids in person after having seen them on tv, google maps, etc. was incredible! We bought the extra ticket to climb inside the Great Pyramid. It was cramped, hot, and exhausting, but we felt like it was an absolute must do to see the INSIDE of a pyramid! After visiting the Sphinx and panoramic viewpoint, we hopped back in our van and returned to Cairo Airport to catch a flight down to Aswan where we will continue this incredible tour through Egypt!

This pyramids are so cool but I’m not sure my claustrophobia would let me go in. Thanks for sharing this and I’m glad you took some down time. As much as I missed seeing your travels this past week, your rest is much more important. Please continue to be safe! ☺️❤️
Egypt is my #1 bucket list place!!!
We visited in 2000. The kids loved going down into the Pyramid. We went into one of the smaller ones. Half way down I wasn’t sure I was going to make it but I reminded myself that my kids 6,8,11 were down there and kept going. One of our favorite pictures is the 5 of us just exiting the pyramid. Great trip!

I'm so thrilled seeing the pyramids!! I have never been able to wrap my brain around the fact that hundreds of men managed to not only get all those precision cut stones out into the desert, but how on earth did they then build those huge pyramids?? Egypt is so full of ancient history and a lot of mystery. Thank you for bringing us there with you!!!

Missed you guys but I'm glad you're back you needed the rest you were on the constant go Africa all the way through can't wait to see more of Egypt have you ever studied the pyramids in high school! It was nice to see him up close I'm 65 with health issues and I know I'll never see him but you actually are giving me a way of seeing the world the way it is love you guys

That’s really cool that you guys got to experience Egypt! Sad you didn’t get to experience the Valley of the Kings, where a lot of Egyptian Pharaohs including King Tut are buried. You could have been able to go into King Tut’s tomb. That would have been cool to see!

One of the most wonderful trips we have ever made was to Egypt. The Pyramids were awesome, Saqqara Step Pyramid, the Temple of Hatshepsut, The Valley of the Kings, The Egyptian Museum was unreal....but our favorite site was Luxor, even more than the Pyramids! You're going to LOVE it.....except perhaps the traffic in Cairo!

Glad you were able to take a week and just relax and take care of yourselves. The Great Egyptian Pyramid was so cool. However, I am totally claustrophobic there’s no way I would have made it to the top. ❤

I would definitely recommend you guys to go to Sharm and Hurghada. The Red sea is one of the best things there. Marsa Matrouh I recommend as well but I believe you should do it in September or October.

I went there 20 some years ago, It was hot in October when I went, I remember going into the Pyramid to I was a tad disappointed when I didnt see a mummy in the tomb. I remember the museum to. Bought Papyrus with my daughter's name on. Remember buying a replica of the Rosetta stone. The roads were crazy.

Wow it looked so amazing inside the pyramid, I never knew the passage way was so small. I could see how a person could feel claustrophobic

So I have heard getting around in Egypt is very hard and getting out of the airport. Is it worth booking a tour or is doing it by yourself fine?
So we went the tour route and they provided all the drivers, etc. We felt it was worth it for this country!

Didn’t Howard Carter a British archiologist discover King Tuts tomb ? Just wondering because Dan said it was an American .
A friend went to the pyramids about 15 years ago and they had to go with a group of tour busses escorted by the military surrounding them because of the robbers, they were told the robbers attack without the escorts
