Huge fan of spoonplug methods and grateful for Don. I pray for his recovery. Lately, my humor side has been working overtime due to the unique items I've retrieved while trolling. Thought it might be interesting what others have found. Yesterday i recovered a ski rope with handle and a battery strap tie down. My best is a pair of shorts and a tee shirt, same lake same day.
I have learning from Don Dicksons blog for years and I consider Don one of the best fisherman to ever walk the face of the Earth, I have been a spoonplugger for 4 decades and Bucks teachings have transformed my fishing success. Buck taught him everything he knew. Don has been passing on the knowledge for decades. Buck would proud of the way Don has kept his methods going.
Great comment Ron. Jim Mason from NorthEast Spoonpluggers here. I just started 2 new UA-cam channels. Please check out JimJam Fishing channel and JimJam Cooking channel. Hope you like them!
Similar thing happened to me. I tied in a couple Ned rigs in the Snake River in Idaho. I had been catching them jumping them up a little bit. My daughter started catching and I wasn’t. I watched her on the next cast and she was just reeling in slowly. After that we fished for a couple more hours and probably caught around 25 fish. I fished that way for smallmouth the rest of the season and the pattern held all summer. When the pattern changed they wanted it drug on the bottom through the rocks. Learned by accident. Goes to show we can learn from anybody. I asked her how she figured that out and she replied, “I didn’t know what else to do with it”. Lol.
Here is the video on kinkaid: ua-cam.com/video/cITvhxXFa-Q/v-deo.html I have not fished there since filming the show. Prior to that never caught a walleye there. It seems to be a very small population of fish present, unless that has changed in recent years with additional stocking. I need to get back there soon and check on that muskie population again!
How is Don doing? I was just wondering about him the other day and checked his channel to make sure I hadn’t missed any videos. Noticed he hasn’t been active in a while. Hope he’s ok.
Don left this comment on one of his videos 2 days ago: "I have been treating Cancer for the past year and am feeling much better lately! Doctors orders included “no fishing” until spring, so I am making plans too resume the videos then! It’s hard sitting around, doing nothing for the past 13 months and I can’t wait to get back on the water!""DD
@@StructureFishing That’s great news. Ive learned so much from your videos which led me to Dons as well. Fishing offshore came into focus for me watching your channel. I try to blend these philosophies with the technology available today. Keep up the good work.
What hidden gem this fishing channel is thanks

Dang - every time I've seen Don on video or in person - he just gets you excited and gives you confidence that you can do it too. Thanks for this.
