- After an epic drum battle between Dave Grohl and Chad Smith, Josh Homme informs them both that there had been a misunderstanding and the world's greatest drummer is actually Bill Burr, who then takes the stage to join The Sweet Stuffers Band (Michael Shuman, Troy Van Leeuwen, Tyler Parkford, John McEnroe, and Matt Helders), featuring guest vocalists Patty Smyth and Ava McEnroe, for a performance of The Go-Go's classic "Our Lips are Sealed". The show was Josh Homme & Friends, a benefit concert in support of Sweet Stuff Foundation, at the Belasco in Los Angeles, California on March 20, 2024.

Nothing fancy - but he kept the beat. He's a professional comedian, not a professional drummer. But he likes to play & has been practicing for a while, & if nothing else, he kept the beat. Going on after the other 2 Professional (& BEST KNOWN) drummers just KILLED IT!? That'd throw me off MY game 4Sure!! Give the guy a break!!

Aw feels like man I got to go on after this they go and tease him with the two outstanding drummers from the '80s and '90s and on and then they're like hey they're going to do a little comedy bit and you're going to go play the drums. By the way Bill you obviously don't need me to show you my drums in St Louis but if you do find yourself bored in St Louis I got some nice equipment to jam but. It's basically on par with what you're on stage with here but I do have a couple sweet Frankenstein sets that are one of a kind you know I could go I could make a Todd Sucherman drum set for the occasion. I'm not a psycho and you could whoop my ass anyway. I'd talk you out of it don't worry pretty likeable .
Man that was kind of rough for you Bill I mean I'm like who's in charge they're like I got an idea let's totally humiliate and put pressure on a drummer who is taking lessons and we'll have Chad and Dave do a syncopated tight do it and make it short and keep everybody wanting more and then drop it down a few beats per minute and although the bills doing a great job they just hyped up the whole drum scene and then gave him a song that's a great song but not a drum predominant kind of song that you bring Dave Grohl and Chad to Hype up glad to see you playing bill and man it just goes to show late in life you could still get screwed by somebody just having a bad idea I mean really I can I would have if I were you or if you were me I would be like who thought of this I mean at least I get to participate and I guess that's the Catch 22 right there.
My first gig was at a restaurant and we played some rush and Led Zeppelin I was able to die happy afterwards but anyway Bartender was Real charismatic guy and he told everybody that hey we got the best drummer In for this show and everybody said oh And then after that he goes unfortunately he couldn't show up so Donnie's gonna play tonight And it really did kill because it was hilarious and You know I was the big man on campus In high school but now I'm Fluke in the river.

Dave is wonderful I love Dave but he is for lack of better term and I mean this with all respect he's the John Bonham amongst other peers like Keith Moon Ginger Baker and even Neil Peart Stewart Copeland. What I'm saying is they're all great drummers but Dave might be the One with the biggest reach However His peers are nothing to shake a stick at I haven't watched this video yet but I know that Chad is not a slouch and he may appear to be the underdog But he is not Any means I bet you Dave would be a little bit nervous Uh I like playing with drummers especially very good talented drummers but it is A little nerve-wracking that it always turns into a drum battle or a drum duel instead of a drum duet.
Again though I am commenting before I seen the whole video I bet you they do duet pretty well guess again it's fun playing with percussion players playing percussion instruments even if you're playing on a drum set you can play some great percussion and forgive my poor punctuation I'm using talk to text and you're just not worth the time. Lol lot of love

He's a professional comedian - not a professional drummer. I'm sure he was invited to play. Knowing he's not a pro on the skins, it must have thrown him off his game, going on following Grohl & Smith. I don't think he was supposed to be perfect, but they gave him a chance to play with them. Probably hadn't played in front of a crowd more than 1-2× before (if ever). He's a novice, & he went on nonetheless. Give the guy a break!!

It was a benefit concert for charity, hence the bring out as many celebrities as you can for exposure.
