@@SatoriGraphicsI learned graphic designing from UA-cam. For two years I learned Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign from UA-cam channels. Firstly apologies as I am watching this video 4 months after getting uploaded, and moving on I just want to give a huge round of applause for creating such an engaging video filled with so much knowledge. I just didn't realize that it was an 11-minute video at all anywhere and I guess this was also a part of the lesson which is retaining the audience to engage with something. I have always learned so much from you in the past and I guess I will do the same in the future too, amazing video mate.
@@Vulcan341 But a fire extinguisher containing hot, fiery, stuff? It's confusing at best. Now had they used a flamethrower, a rocket engine, a volcano or something else you'd associate with heat, yeah I'd be down with that. Or if they flipped it so the bottle was surrounded by fire extinguishers or something like that, that would be good, understandable, logical. I just don't rate this example as a good example of mastering visual communication. YMMV of course.
excellent video!! Thanks so much. It would be great if you make a video about motion graphic, your animations are awesome and i would love to learn how the magic is made ;)
Thanks a lot for the video on this very interesting topic on visual metaphors. It seems that coming up with such striking solutions is something that would just hit you, rather than something you would arrive at through a systematic and repeatable process. Could you suggest more material (books/videos/courses) that dig deeper on how to get better at this kind of stuff?
I said similar too BUT.... 1) the fact that people are talking about it being wrong, means it's done it's job in getting our attention. 2) There is a phrase often used in popular culture "fight fire, with fire"

Great content. Not gonna lie though - The Tabasco Sauce on white background with just "buy sauce" is actually not bad. haha. Def not the optimal choice but it has its own affinity for like a full page in Vogue or something.
Hi Satori, I love your videos man. They help me stay up-to-date with the graphic design world. Just a feedback, the blinking blue background at 7:50 is very hard on the eyes, as well as some of the animated textures (like the one at 8:10). Maybe you can tone it down a little bit in the next videos. Thanks for all the content!
The fact that Satori didn't reply to your insane and vulgar comment, tells me he is very polite. Someone else would have told you to GFY, to be honest.
Really love the kind words thanks :) I actually work with an editor, and so he does a lot of the high quality editing, I do a lot of the tedious editing. I don't have the time or skill to do what he does, so I can't really teach it unfortunately
Thank you for your useful videos , can I ask you about being a designer in nanotechnology? Can you make a video explaining this kind of design ? Many thanks
The one thing AI won’t be able to do is make someone who has no interest in design a designer and if they do it will only be short term. As a designer it might inspire or enhance your work but it begins with the designer not AI.
It's subjective of course. The second one (on average) performs better in a marketing situation. There are always people who will prefer the other, only a minority will react lemoress to that than it.
1) Master design principle to where you can see them in existing designs 2) Master raster and vector software 3) Have a good understanding of marketing 4) Stay up to date with how ai is evolving Do these 4 things and you will be set
i think i missed the black 50 offer.. but to be honest i cant afford right now even after the cut off as well so i would pay you someday if i have the color guide free for now. :)
Thanks! But you totally missed that in the Gym ad the top graphic spells FAT, and the middle graphic is the transition to the lower graphic - with a narrow man - which spells FIT. This is brilliant storytelling.
It's sort of both, a logo can communicate a psychological vibe or emotion, but first and foremost it's a memory hook that creates an identity that consumers can relate and link to
while i like the fire extinguisher visual joke, i dont like it as either a symbol nor an index or an icon. Because it communicates the opposite of its own point. It implies that the hot sauce will actually cool down the heat instead of bringing it. Because thats what a fire extinguisher does. It REDUCES heat. So i would rate this a C. Creative and well executed but it misses the point
Its been 2 years listening to your videos but still whenever i click I learn something new . Thanks 🙏🏻

I swear, some of you are having the toughest time with the Tabasco Ad 🤦♂️
I say, awesome job Satori!
thanks Alex lol 👍
Using the overweight and slim person as the "A" and "I" alongside the fat to fit transition in the golds gym ad is just genius.
It is a stroke of genius that's for sure
EXCELLENT video! So much theory in such a short video 👍
Glad you think so cheers
I have to say that tabasco example doesn't make any sense. It looks like a fire extinguisher, but you don't put out fires by adding more fire.
I agree. It doesn't work because it makes no sense... HOWEVER, it looks good, gets attention and makes people think. So for an advert, it's good.
Nope, it makes sense, it is a hyperbole, i.e. to exaggerate things
@@Vulcan341 Hyperbole or not, the metaphor is still wrong: you don't put out fires by adding more fire.
@@martinh4982 but the metaphor shows how hot and fire the sauce is that you may need an extinguisher

I'm conflicted with the Tabasco Sauce bottle because Fire Extinguishers are used to put fires out.
It's a good point

How do you create your slides> is it via envato elements?
I work with a highly skilled editor, and we use Adobe After Effects 👍
Some templates are from Envato, some things are made from scratch
I like the first picture in the thumbnail though. So is the second image superior?

Wait..... We communicate that the hot sauce is hot by turning it into something that extinguishes heat?
Or perhaps the interior is the source of the heat, the vessel is then present to combat the heat after consumption?

"A Logo is Identification not Communication" is that right? 😅

you make a good point, but from a sort of 'double bluff' sort of psychology
@@SatoriGraphics now you lost me. What is a double bluff psychology?
It's saying that it's so hot that you need a fire extinguisher...
