Babymetal's love letter to the fans.
They haven't played it live very much in recent times, which is kind of a shame because its such a good song. I was lucky enough to see the last live performance at Clear Night in April, and it really hits you right in the feels live.
Great reaction. 'The ONE' is a song they dedicated to the fans (who they also called the ONE). There is a full English version and this half and half English-Japanese version as well as an acoustic version.
They had realised the fans around the world had been learning Japanese to sing along with them, so they challenged themselves to learn a song completely in English in return as a mark of their love and respect, effectively it is their love letter to the fans.
Yes they often perform this song, not so much when they're touring, but they will do it in their more significant concerts.
'The ONE' started life as a part of another song - 'Tales of the Destinies', but they were separated early in the writing process ('TotD' is a full on Prog Metal song, but it does share some elements with 'The ONE' despite being a very different sort of song).

'Akatsuki' unfinished version (another Su-metal solo but watch the original first so you can see and hear the contrast and how they can make one song sound like a completely different song without changing the melody or lyrics),

I think The One is a very special song, not only in BABYMETAL‘s universe, but globally. The fact that they wrote it as an ode to their fans says it all, and I think the lyrics, the melodies and the live presentation fit this message perfectly. It makes me emotional every time, and I‘m happy and proud to be part of such a great community.
‘THE ONE’ has only been performed once this year, back in April.
It is related to the song ‘Tales of the Destinies’, as they were originally part of one song that was divided into two separate tracks while they were in the development stage.
TOTD has only been performed live once, at Tokyo Dome.
The piano outro blends into the piano intro of ‘THE ONE’.

Yeah I knew the reference to the fans, but I felt this meaning was intended for a larger group. I could be wrong. But I never watch or research really without reacting, so it's usually just guessing.

Nice reaction :) I started getting in to BabyMetal a few months ago. Sometime during those months I mentioned to my niece that I'd been listening to a Japanese band called BabyMetal which combines metal music and pop vocals fronted by 3 girls. She said, 'Oh?' and looked at me kinda funny. Last week she was over and I asked if she had 7 or 8 minutes to spare. She said, 'Yes' so I sat her down and after a brief preface to explain what 'The One' was I played this video for her. Her jaw was on the floor the entire time. When it was over she said, 'Wow! Now I see why you like them! That was fantastic!' Then she had me replay the video and show her a few more. Happy to say she's now a member of The One

Some people said this song was a little bit too repetitive. But in their live performance you feel as if the length of this song were only 30 seconds and want to listen to it forever. I witnessed it total 11 times at venues. Whenever they performed this song, I saw divine beauty and heard angelic voices, which you mentioned. Su's matured and richer voice in 2021 & 2023 sounds like embracing us all.

Saw them Monday night. The girls and the crowd got into a balloon fight. The balloons the crowd was knocking around ended up on stage and the girls hit them back to the crowd. The girls and the crowd were having fun with it until all the balloons popped.
Seen a fancam of Su throughing the balloon back into the audience 😮 it was great 😁🤘🏼🦊
@@martinmetal7481 Yeah most of that was on the left side of the stage and I was on the right side and missed most of it. Su looked like she was having lots of fun, and she seems to have a good throwing arm.

This was a so g made for the fans, and they did a full english version as well for us overseas fans too. They usually play this for a show closer typically during day 1 of 2 day shows. But, they haven’t done this song in a bit, I believe.
Also, this song is technically “pt 2”, follows Tales of The Destinies (originally 1 song split in 2). That one is just a prog masterpiece (next react?)

Yes, they have more songs similar to this. Shine is a great one and if you listen to Road of Resistance with sub titles . You'll see that it's a very inspiring song also .

It is difficult even for Japanese to imagine oleander in that video.
One small detail: the rain after the bomb was not acid rain, but large drops of rain with the consistency of heavy oil, which is radioactive fallout. This rain caused secondary damage. The Japanese people shudder with fear at the mere mention of "black rain.
Babymetal does not give correct answers in most cases. They intentionally leave a lot of ambiguity to allow for a variety of interpretations.
So I will tell you my speculation.
The song seems to be a response to the war between Russia and Ukraine at the time. I think they intentionally wanted to show their anti-war intentions by mixing it with the image of Hiroshima.
They once applied an interpretation of the black rain of Hiroshima to the opening of the song "No Rain, No Rainbow". I was surprised that the love ballad turned out to feel like a requiem. And I believe that the requiem for Hiroshima is once and for all over with that.
And I felt another interpretation in the other version of The 1st Take.
This take was taken just before Momometal joined the band, and it is sung by Su and Moa.
But three mysterious little girls come out just to hold hands.
Then the lyric "The Bright Star" is supposed to be about Yui.
Yui is gone, officially signaling the end of an era when the three of them were good friends.
