  • $1100 vs $2900 bass!
    The famous Yamaha TRB JP 2 Signature vs Sire M7
    6. I’ve owned JP2 & sold it bcoz it’s too wide & big for me. Both have 35 inch scale, but JP has 19 mm, 26 frets, ebony board. A solid built quality on the JP2 but it’s a bit heavy 5kg sumthin. M7 18 mm, 24 frets, Rosewood board 3,5-4 kg.
    Jamming on Fortune Teller by Fourplay tune.
    Tell me which one is your favorite and why?

    I own a Yamaha trb1006. That bass is made for me. The Sire sounds great for slap in particular but in a finger style, Yamaha tones at times sound like your plugged into a reverb pedal on the highs, and the sustain is incredible. When you’re in the lower register in finger style play the notes sort of growl. Both basses here sound amazing. What your playing technique is like ultimately decides which sounds better

    • @RamaNatan

      1006 Korean is just too tight string spacing to me, 17 mm

  • @fredyesteban6921

    With good equalization and compression you can improve the sound of any instrument. Yamaha has its spectacular sound, Sire was camouflaged with excessive processing.

    • @Watermelon_Man
      @Watermelon_Man Рік тому

      What excessive processing? If you’re including compression, that compressor must have been terrible because the dynamic range of the notes was not squashed at all. And instruments have built-in EQ for a reason, so I don’t think “good equalization” is something that’s so exclusive that it “camouflaged” the Sire.

    Very impressed with the Sire, but that Yamaha sounds so good! To me, so balanced with the right amount of everything - I marvel at how it sounds great fingerstyle AND slaps on the same setting. That tight low B is to die for. I just wish Yamaha had a version with a narrower string spacing. Oh and nice playing!

    I had the Sire M7 6 string and now i have the TRB JP2. In real life It`s like comparing apples and oranges in every aspect, although this video does not show that much. Still, considering that the TRBJP2 is a 6K instrument (new) and the Sire is 5 times less, i`d say The Sire M7 is a very good bass (but still in a completely different league from the TRB JP2). It`s better than the current Yamaha TRB1006 bass which is probably the most overpriced 6 string bass on the market today and should never be mixed with the older 1988-2010 TRBJP, TRBJP2, TRBP and TRBP2 Yamaha models which are premium instruments and rightfully costly even today. Cheers.

    Dari karakter suaranya udah kerasa sih. Range frequency TRB JP greget abis, buat recording aman banget pasti. M7 bukan ga enak, karakter low nya growling, n masih cukup punya jati diri :)

    Sire M7 bolt-on has 5 bolts and not 4 like I have come across in the shops. Why change from 5 to less stable 4 bolts on the neck joint?

    • @kristianhansen6114
      @kristianhansen6114 2 роки тому

      Hi Barbara - if you look closely to the design of the bottom horn - Sire has cut it deeper to improve access to the upper frets. They had to make a change to the neck joint in the same process. So it ended up being the simplest and most stable joint to do a "staggered 4-bolt" joint instead of a 5 bolt. It would be difficult to make room for 5 bolts in this setup. They have done the same change on the more entry level M2 series that has also switched over from 5 to 4 bolts due to the same design change of the bottom horn.

    Yamaha have a better tone to finger style, in the Slap is not my favorite sound to much mids slaping,, but is cool. Yamaha is to heavy , Sire is a good good bass more lightweight and good sounds, no better , but for the price is a complete bass ,, i am user a Sadowsky NYC jazz and Humbucker, my favorite tone is Sadowsky , But i recomended the sire V9 and V10 single coills pickups, this basses have more agresive tone, not better, Sire ia the best bass for the price, but what you pay is what you get.

My hands are pretty large, thus the reason for the question. Thanks, really would like to know the string spacing, and if possible the price.
