- Alaska has some of the best national parks anywhere in the United States. But how do I rank all of them? Parks such as Katmai, Denali, Lake Clark, Wrangell St.-Elias, and much all of the others are amazing, but the best ones are all so amazing that this was a difficult ranking. I hope you enjoy this ranking!
Subscribe for more national park content as there are more rankings and other videos on the way.
The whole state could be a national park. I have a trip to NYC planned and wish it was Alaska. The good news is, I get to see Niagara Falls again.
Alaska is a breathtaking state. I hope you enjoy Niagara.
This is pretty awesome!! You put the final frontier all together in one video!! For me who hasn't been to Alaska yet Katmai may be #2 followed by Denali. Ranking lake Clark #2 has definitely piqued my interest in it.
Thanks! Lake Clark definitely exceeded my expectations.
Definitely need to do a fjord cruise at kenai fjords. That’s where you’ll get the stunning views.
Thanks for the advice.
Denali.
It looks phenomenal visually and hopefully I get the opportunity to visit it at some point in my life so I can see it with my own eyes.
I doubt I have the skills to get to the top but it would be fun to hike at such a beautiful place even if it was easy trails in comparison.
The trails I’ve done are certainly quite easy compared to climbing the mountain, but any view of the peak on a clear day is breathtaking.
@@NationalParkWild Even on a dreary day I doubt it would feel dreary looking up to that beauty.
Really appreciate this video Eric. Very useful n informative. Can you make a short video on how to access all of these - which airports are closer etc. And info on where to get the national parks passport stamp facilities are as most of the parks are remote and when we take a flight tour over the park, how do we get to see the visitor center etc. Thanks in advance.
Am planning to visit next year. Would to cover parks around the Anchorage. Heard there's a cluster of parks around Anchorage
I will tell you that I accessed Wrangell, Kenai, and Denali by car after flying into Anchorage. Lake Clark and Katmai can be accessed via Lake Clark Air flying out of Anchorage. Kobuk and Gates of the Arctic can be accessed by taking Brooks Range Aviation to Bettles by flying from Fairbanks. For Glacier Bay, your best bet is either flying to Gustavus from Anchorage or taking a cruise if you plan to. Hope this helps.
@@NationalParkWild that really helps. Thanku very much.
I've only been to 2 of Alaska's NP's, Denali and Kenai Fjords. I've seen a lot of bear fishing videos from Katmai. I LOVED Kenai Fjords, and you missed the best part by not going out on one of the 6-8 hour long cruises that sail into the fjords. I thought it was marvelous. A lot of the allure of Denali comes down to whether you can see the mountains (it is frequently overcast) or a lot of animals. We saw neither and we spent 3 days there. Kenai is in my USA Top 5, Denali is not. Katmai looks like fun.
That is too bad, Same 2 AK parks for me, and cruising around the bay at Kenai was fabulous, had an Orca pod surface right next to our boat. But Denali is incredible and only behind Yellowstone for me too. The bus guide told us only 1/3 of visitors get to see Denali's peak on their visit. We did along with a grand slam of all the wildlife Bears (including a nursing mother & cubs) Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep, Golden eagles and more. If not I can see why it woulda been hugely disappointing.
@@porcine83 How's the saying go . . . timing is everything.
Great videos. What camera do you use? I will be going to Alaska summer 2024 and visiting Denali, Lake Clark and Kenai Fjords NPs. I want to get a new camera to capture the Parks. Thanks.
I’m a big fan of you channel and through your videos I am planning a trip to Alaska. I’m thinking of a 12 day trip split between Lake Clark and Denali. I didn’t know if this is the right amount of time or if I should do one or the other on a separate trip. Any advice you can offer would be wonderful. Thanks again for the great content!
If you go for 12 days, I would also go to Katmai by lumping that in with Lake Clark. An average of 3-4 days in each of those parks will definitely be enough to blow you away.
@@NationalParkWild awesome! Thank you!
Hey Ranger! Can you talk about the Junior Ranger badges ? Thanks 😁
I’d be happy to. The Junior Ranger program is in place at most national park sites. Children can fill out an activity book (activities vary by park) and earn a badge, patch, or both. It is free at most sites.
College Fjiord isnt a national park but is mind blowing... its like glacier bay but better and from our cruise ship we saw a grizzly bear, seals, whales, orcas, porpoises, and otters along with getting within .3 miles of a huge glacier. Mendenhall is also insane
I think they should turn tongass national forest into a national park. Because of the deforestation 🌳
I agree. It is beautiful and worthy of park status. I’d love it to be protected.
This is sick. Makes me sad that these are some of the least accessible parks in the US. But good to know it will be worth it when I make it someday
It is unfortunate that some of the best parks in the nation are so hard to access, but they are spectacular.
@@NationalParkWild that’s why they are spectacular! If they were easy to access it’d be ruined from tourism like Yellowstone and Zion. It’s unfortunate, but protecting these amazing parks are more important.
You have only scratched the surface of KFNP by only visiting Exit Glacier. You have to do the glacier cruise. Though be hard to beat out your top 3.
I love Enduro Automatic 😍
I’m not gonna go here for a while since tickets cost arm and leg
My List
8 Katmai ( Fairly Rated )
7 Kobuk Valley ( Overrated )
6 Lake Clark ( Underrated )
5 Gates of the artic ( Overrated )
4 Kenai Fjords ( Fairly rated )
3 Glacier Bay ( Underrated )
2 Denali ( Overrated )
1 Wrangel St Elias ( Underrated )
Denali is actually overrated. I’ve been there twice, but it’s the same scene repeating again and again. You put it at 1 just because you like mountains lol. Clark and KF are WAY better
Hmmm what do we do with the state that has no roller coasters? OH idea. Rank the thing that makes up for their lack of coasters.
Yep. I love coasters, but Alaska is my favorite state for its nature.
For sure
Could you make your ranking system a bit more subjective? The word "I" was not used nearly enough in this, or your other videos.
Whether or not I say the word “I”, the lists are all subjective. That is all you need to know, and saying “it’s just my opinion” doesn’t make it more subjective.
